Big L Windows & Doors

larWhere do I start? I can't say enough good things about Big L window and Doors. I am a realtor and I will be recommending them to all my clients. I looked for 5 years for a company to replace my old worn out casement windows. Frustrated with salesman and the ridiculous pricing, I put off the project year after year until I met Fritz at Big L. Believe me, I have spoken to every big and small window company out there. Fritz never tried to oversell anything I did not need. He was very informative and was reachable during the entire process. His creative ability helped guide me to the right solution for my home. Fritz followed up by personally staying involved all the way thru install. Everyone at Big L seemed to genuinely care about my satisfaction. Norm-in charge of installers/service-met me at my home and told me exactly how the process would go. I met the owner, service manager and window reps! On the day of install, Fritz, Norm, Sunrise Windows and the entire install crew were there to be sure I was satisfied. They worked efficiently and professionally. Their installers have been in the business for years and are highly skilled. Everything went according to schedule. Windows were in as promised, days needed to install were accurate and they were able to accomodate my deadlines. The windows are awesome!! Don't think twice about using Big L. They are the best of the best--without the high price tag!!

Removed the old window(s) and replaced insulation that came out. Put in new energy efficient triple pane windows. Calked around to seal these window(s) in. A picture window and two small(22 in) wide windows were put in. They came in 10 minutes early and worked through rain to make sure the window was replaced properly. Took about four hours to remove and replace the windows. Cleaned up and made sure nothing was left behind. Had a new rug in the parlor. They put down plastic to protect the rug and when they had to work indoors they had booties on to protect the rug and wood around the windows. This company does exactly what it promises. I would definitely recommend them.

It was a very positive experience. I thought the estimate was fair and it seemed like high quality products that I looked at. The description of the work they were going to do was pretty detailed. I felt like I wouldn't have hired them if I didn't think it was good.

It is going to take 6 weeks since they gave us the quote and we are waiting for them to do the work, they have to order the windows because they are custom. The process of getting the quote from them was easy and their demeanor was nice. They were perfectly lovely.

The estimate was reasonable price. They had an excellent salesman. We had set estimates from two other places and Big L was the highest but they had the highest quality of product. Their demeanor so far is excellent. So far everything is “A” – the salesman, the guy that came out and did the measurements. I feel that so far they’re the most professional people that come out. Yes, I will use them because we've already signed a contract with them.

From Sales to installation was excellent. Concerns and questions were dealt with professionally and quickly. The install was done very meticulous and the clean up after was above board. Very happy with the installers.

We spoke with several window installation contractors and got estimates. Big L price structure is probably middle of the road. They feature Marvin windows. The quality of Marvin products is very good. Our sense is that Big L has a well trained in-house staff. They do not use subs. Our final decision was based on the the product and the installer. We are very pleased with the quality of service.

The guys were great! They did their work meticulously, and were friendly as they worked.

Fine overall. The salesperson, Mr Turner, was helpful without pressing or trying to add on things. The one upgrade above he original widow we looked at - Marvin Integrity windows - made sense to my wife and myself and are everything we expected. They come with full screens, which open both top or bottom on the double-hungs. The other windows we looked at were only half-screened for the same price. The order took a little under 3 weeks to arrive from the manufacturer - as quoted - and installation was scheduled within a few days. The crew arrived on time, 8 AM, and did their work quickly, as quietly as possible, and cleaned up at the end of each day. (Installation took almost 2 days.) They assessed the situation on arrival and proceeded to work around the approaching bad weather by doing as much of the exterior work as possible the first day. Rain did come partway through the second day, but, although they had to do some finishing work on the exteriors, the house was weather-tight, with mostly interior trim finishing. The team of three people, led by Derek (sp?) was very professional and put down drop-cloths throughout the house and vacuumed after completing the work. They were very polite - even to the point of asking permission when using the bathroom. If pressed for anything like a negative comment, I did find a couple of small pieces of left-over, trimmed parts upon closer inspection of the whole area, but I only include this as I have no other comments that aren't completely positive about the transaction. Bottom line, I do highly recommend Big L and would have no hesitation using them again.

They did a very good job. They were very professional.

I took advantage of a special deal they were promoting. Their front doors were excellent; I had gotten another one from a major big box retail home improvement store which was not as good. They are very nice to deal with and do good work. I have no complaints and their products are better than the cheap ones; I think their price is fair. Their quality is very good and if I call them they are right here. They are right on time and the guys are really nice; they come and install and we have no problems.

They have a large variety of styles for their doors, which is why I took a quote from them but I ended up going with someone a little cheaper. I would look at them for future work but I have no plans to use them soon.

I thought their service was great. They came and were very reliable. I will continue to use them in future.

Big L's price was in line or lower than others that we received from Home Depot, Sears and others. I felt the quality and strength of their Restorations brand product was superior though and that's why I agreed to have them do the work. I also felt that the salesman, Jim was as honest and professional as a salesman in his business could be. After signing a contract with Jim on 10/16/12, we waited about 5 weeks and had the windows, which are made-to-order, installed on 11/27/12, which was within the 4 - 6 weeks promised. The workers were scheduled to arrive at 8:00 am and arrived within 20 - 30 minutes of that time. By about 12:00 pm, the four-man crew had all the old windows out and the new ones inserted, leveled, shimmed and caulked with expanding foam insulation. They put the trim on one of the windows and two workers returned the next day to finish the job, which took a few hours on a very cold and windy day. All of the workers were professional and personable and were careful around the interior of our home, having used drop cloths to protect the floors and carpets as they are in and out of the house frequently. Their lead man, who described himself as a "carpenter," was very knowledgeable and conscientious about his work. Prior to the new windows, we had some cold, drafty spots in our house but are now feeling cozy and warm and the furnace does not come on as often as it seemed to in the past. The new windows are easy to clean and operate and we are very pleased with them and the salesman and crew of Big L Distributors.

Do wait for a special as they are on the higher side, but the window provided is also a step or two above the average grade.

They were there on time and had completed the job by 2:00 PM. They cleaned up completely after the job and all that was left was beautiful new windows and doors. The men completing the job were friendly and courteous and very professional. I was extremely impressed with Big L from the salesman, Lucy in the office and the guys actually doing the job. I would definitely recommend them again.

I am writing in appreciation of the work the entire Big L team did replacing our mixed bag of 1920?s wooden, vinyl and broken windows with beautiful and energy efficient Restorations fiberglass windows. First let me address the windows. The look and feel of the windows, so much more like wood than the vinyl versions we considered, matches the gorgeous wood molding we have in our 1920?s house nearly perfectly. We have found them easy to clean and love that the latches to bring the panes inside are hidden inside the lock mechanism. This adds a much classier look to our windows that the standard latches on vinyl windows. We are pleased with the grills inside the windows which allowed us to continue the original look of the house. Lastly, in addition to their beauty, we have already begun to reap the benefits of the Restoration windows? high energy efficiency ? rooms that used to broil because of the heat upon our outdated materials stayed cool this summer. As Fritz demonstrated when we were considering the product, they kept the weather outside. We look forward to further savings this winter without the leaks and cold transference we had experienced with the old panes. Fritz capably and without pressure sold us on the Restorations windows, explaining their features, benefits and functions without overt pressure to buy. He gave the pros and cons of the fiberglass and vinyl windows and their pricing structures and then allowed us to make our own decision. After working with us fairly on the price, we knew we had made the right decision to install the higher priced, but demonstrably better Restorations windows. Fritz? respect and professionalism left us not wanting. He is a credit to his profession. Norm and Mike ably supervised Big L?s own team of installers and got the job done well and quickly. They capably scheduled the window installation in between the time the siding crew also working on our house had the siding off and had the job complete before the other workers came back to re-side the house. They treated my mother who came to watch the house (supervise!) with great respect and humor. We had two odd windows replaced with awning windows. Replacing these windows meant that the original molding would no longer properly cover the wall. Norm had molding milled for us in the exact same pattern as our original windows and installed them beautifully. We are grateful for his work. With a project of this size (25 windows), there is always something that?s not quite right, whether it be how the window was manufactured or an installation issue. We must say that Lucy and the rest of the team at Big L handled all concerns or issues that arose professionally and capably. We knew if we called our questions would be addressed and that we would not have to settle with something undone, as other contractors might try to do. We know that we made the right decision to choose the Restorations windows and to work with the staff at Big L Distributors. We spent up to a comfortable limit with our project (we also had roofing and siding done at the same time), so we weren?t able to do all the windows in our house at once. As soon as we are ready to start phase two, we will be giving Big L a call.

.The crew was punctual and very professional. They started on time and performed all actions within a timely manner. They were very precise in their measurements and the quality of the workmanship shows. First off one can tell of the quality of the product, both the windows and doors. When the project was finished the opening and closing of windows and doors was like night and day from our previous products. We were thrilled at the new look in our house. Everyone from the sales person to the work crew were friendly and knowlegdable, of the product and it's installation.

Job completed in one day; professional work and cleanup. They answered all my questions and took the time needed to make sure the door was installed properly.

They did an excellent job. They were neat and efficient.

The salesman Jim Turner was very professional and efficient. The workers who installed the window were very efficient and neat.. I have had several windows and a door installed in the past and I would definitely use them again.

The project went very well. They completed the job in the time frame that they had said. They paid attention to detail and worked without making a mess. Nice people to work with.

Work was done quickly and effeciently. There was an attention to detail not seen lately by other companies that have done work for us. Do take the time to go to the showroom to pick out your windows. Make sure they come out and measure. This company does it twice! They are also coming back out to make sure the work was done correctly and to check on how their workers did on the job.

They installed the awning while I was at work. I came home to find everything done, neat and tidy.

It was fine but they were a little too expensive. I talked to one of their representatives and he gave me prices. They were friendly and knowledgeable. The problem was they were too expensive for the windows I wanted. They seemed to have a lot of information about their products. They were very professional.
