Description of Work: Complete remodel of kitchen, dining and living rooms.

Description of Work: I have an old Victorian with original pocket doors, one of which had become hopeless stuck in the open position. I consulted with various websites and two other carpenters, and it seemed as though I might have to open up the walls to address the problem. One estimate was $1,750, another was $100 per hour, and a third was $300 total. Then I contacted Mr. Olson, who came out to look at the problem the same day. He spent a long time analyzing the problem, as when as thoroughly explaining all possibility causes of the difficulty, means of repairing the walls should they be impacted, etc. I felt completely confident that Mr. Olson had experience with such doors and knew how to complete the job. I hired him immediately and he did the job himself in about seven hours. Ultimately he determined that the doors had been raised after the original floor had likewise been raised, and thus the top of the pocket door was then rubbing against part of the framing. He removed both doors, trimmed them by one-half inch, and reinstalled them. He only had to remove a couple pieces of the molding, which he reattached. During the work he explained the me certain features of the hardware and construction of the pockets and the doors. Mr. Olson was tidy, knowledge and friendly. He only charged me $50 per hour. The doors work fine now, and I would definitely hire him again!!

Description of Work: Two gutter downspouts had to be cut and re-attached to alleviate water accumulation by foundation. He filled in area with good topsoil on both sides of a chimney. Recovered area with rock slabs.

Description of Work: Steve installed a new wall with closet doors and also installed cabinets, tile flooring and backsplash into a small kitchen for our office.

Description of Work: We received an estimate for a complete kitchen renovation and installation of new cabinets. His estimate was consistent with other estimates. We decided to hire another contractor whose work was personally recommended by a friend.

Description of Work: Redid Kitchen. Cabinets, Walls, electric,gas, flooring, tile, appliances and counter top. Paint and trim. Also did railing and bannister on stair way.

Description of Work: I had my old 1958 Kitchen totally gutted and renovated by Steve Olsen. He gave me a very fair estimate to remove a wall, expand the space a bit and put in new cabinets, plumbing, flooring, sheet rock and installation of a difficult range hood and oven. He and his partner completely demo'd the kitchen taking it down to the studs. Put in a new oak wood floor that he managed to match seamlessly with my dining room. Put in new sheet rock and new ceiling, and built a new peninsula to separate the kitchen and dining area. He replaced the back door and assembled and installed all new cabinets from Ikea that I'd chosen. He worked with the countertop company on delivery and installation of the new top. He and his partner grouted and tiled the whole area, installed a new sink with new plumbing and prepped for the electrician for installation of outlets, high hats and pendant lights. Installation of a difficult range hood that was over the peninsula and creation of a duct in the ceiling. Painted the kitchen and added crown moldings to both kitchen and dining area and hallway.
