Description of Work: BILL did several things for me at my house basically Handy Man services. There was an honest mistake in one of his bills that charged me $100.in his favor. I texted and called several times but he never got back to me. When I finally called him from a friend’s phone he was very rude and hung up on me. His work was barely satisfactory.

+ 0 moreI was given Bill's number as a recommendation from Jack Berleth & Sons who I hired to fix a leak in a pipe. The leak was traced back to screw holding up a closet shelf. As a result, Jack Berleth & Sons had to cut open the wall to access and repair the leak. I called Bill White and after a few tries to meet up for the estimate I was able to show him the patch that had to be done from the pipe repair. While meeting with him, I also mentioned that I wanted some corner bead replaced as well as some tape joints fixed as well as caulking some gaps in crown molding throughout the house. Our meeting took place the Thursday or Friday prior to Thanksgiving 2018. As he was leaving, he said, "I'll get back to you in a day or two with the estimate." Today is now November 30th, 2018 and I have yet to hear anything regarding my estimate. I have called several times per day and left messages since Monday, November 26, 2018. Lookin at his business card, he claims he is honest and reliable. Does this sound honest and reliable to you? Don't waste your time with this handyman!

Description of Work: I had Bill do a few minor jobs for me and he seemed professional at the time. It seems like it is very hard to get in contact with him sometimes and I do not appreciate that type of behavior when I am trying to get some work done professionally. Like others said on this site he decides when he wants to respond and when he doesn't. Not professional at all.

He showed up exactly on time and did the job done in no time. He was extremely professional and friendly. Cost of service was very reasonable. This guy knows his stuff! However he was supposed to do another apartment, but he called back stating he won the lottery and would not be doing the apartment because he is retiring. He said he was not doing any more work. He knew how important it was for me to have the work done, and wish he would at least given me a referral.

+ -1 moreBill came quickly, assessed the repair and improvised a temporary handle using strong tape, then reattached the handle with screws and epoxy. He instructed my mom to use the temporary handle until the epoxy cured. The repair is strong and looks very good as well. Couldn't ask for a better result. Not only is Bill an expert repairman, he is a really nice guy and a pleasure to deal with.
Description of Work: The handle broke off my mom's refrigerator and needed to be repaired.

+ 3 moreOn 8/24 0r 25th, Bill came to the house and reviewed scope of work and stated he would give an estimate in next few days. I requested that I'd like work to get done in next week or so. I asked if Job was too small and if he was interested, he said it was fine. As of 9/11, no estimate or follow up has taken place. Work was completed today, on a Sunday by another contractor.
Description of Work: (12) Window replacement Caulking/ Misc. Caulking to side of house to seal openings. (1) Door sweep repair and (1) Door Hinge repair Base molding install to 1/3 of a kitchen floor. Molding was already onsite. Deck stairwell handrail repair

+ 1 moreBill returned our call promptly and came out to take a look. He promised to work up estimates for a few alternative solutions and get back to us. The next morning his list of alternatives was in our mailbox. After we chose the best one for us, we gave him the go-ahead and a very few days later Bill showed up with the new door, trimmed it, painted it with two coats of the correct color paint and then cleaned up completely. Bill also checked the other problem doors in the house, getting them to close properly.
Description of Work: We needed a bathroom door replaced. The existing one had been damaged because the nice policeman had to kick it in to free someone when the knob mechanism broke. So: Bill showed up on time, understood the problem, gave us a variety of solutions to choose from, delivered and installed the new door and took the old one away, and fixed a number of other problems as well. His price was reasonable too. We cannot recommend Bill highly enough.

+ -1 moreIt went very well. He recommended and bought for me a newer type of faucet that should not be able to freeze like the old one did. He installed it quickly and efficiently despite the fact that I had no light on the inside of the basement where he had to do the installation and the spot was blocked by a drop ceiling so he had to find it and then work in a very tight space. He spent a lot of time explaining my options and was very professional. I felt the price was more than fair.
Description of Work: He replaced an outside water faucet that had frozen and cracked over the winter. The original faucet was at least 40 years old.

+ -1 moreWhen we purchased this 100 year old water view house in mid 2010 many people confided in us that the house was (in their opinion) a tear down. From the onset we hired several home "contractors" and spent a small fortune in the process. By any other name each of those "contractors" would have been known as Rube Goldberg. In desperation we hired Bill White in 2014 in an effort to correct much of the shoddy workmanship performed by several of his predecessors. First; Bill White's monicker, "helpful handyman" is grossly misleading. Bill White is a consummate, expert CRAFTSMAN worthy of Michael Angelo repute. His work ethic (quiet, neat, clean, reliable and punctual) are the most professional we've encountered. Don't be fooled by his low key, quiet demeanor. We recommend Bill White, Helpful Handiman without the slightest hint of reservation. Second: We plan to use ONLY he in the future. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Description of Work: Bill white has been here numerous times. The price runs the gamut from $500 to $1400. Bill's first project was to restore the bedroom floor that another contractor had CAUSED to collapse. We were almost desperate because at least 2 other contractors refused the job of repairing the collapsed floor. Since the successful salvage and repair of the bedroom, Bill White has been here several times and is the ONLY contractor we will ever use in the future.

Description of Work: Bill came to our house to see the job and measured for the mouldings and saddles. He made a custom saddle for my two entrances into my kitchen. The amount of work that went into the job and the beautiful craftmanship provided by Bill is very much appreciated by me and my husband. When we moved into this house, it had a 70,000.00 custome kitchen and the saddles that were provided by the original kitchen contractor were nothing next to the finishing touch that Bill created yesterday. Wow, we couldn't be more pleased! On the way out the door he fixed my door lock and went back out to his work van to get my husband a level and a stud finder and the CORRECT screws and washers to further assist my husband in hanging our large flat screen on the wall so it wouldn't land up on the floor. He did not hesitate to help us succeed in mounting that tv, even though I just finished paying him for the saddles and he was ready to go home after completing the job he actually came here to do. We are very impressed with his level of professionalism and how he further helped us when he saw us struggling.
