Dunrite Chimney & Stove

I was thrilled, Anthony and John were polite, really professional, on time, very neat and clean.

He did a great job, cleaned out much more than the last guy I used. Very clean job, very polite and informative. Only complaint is if you have a truck that leaks oil don't park it in the customers driveway. I now have to clean the oil. This is why I rated professionalism as a B. The reason I rated punctuality a C is I hate appointments that are between 12 - 5. You really can't get it down to a 2 hour window or even better a real appointment?

We called Dunrite initially for a cleaning (both oil and wood chimney), which was done very well; during the cleaning we were informed that the liner for the oil chimney needed to be replaced. Additionally, our outside bricks on the chimney were in need of TLC (repointing etc.) We got bids from Dunrite and 2 other vendors, and decided to go with Dunrite (one of the other bids was $1000 more!) It was also nice to be able to pay with a credit card. The guys worked hard and fast in blistering heat without complaining. The office people were terrific too. We were very happy with the work and the price.

We were pleased with the help & advise we received from our service person, Anthony. He explained the construction of our chimney; what was right and what was wrong, and how we could correct the problem. He also looked at our oil burner, hot water appliances. (We use fuel oil). The chimney was cleaned, swept & the smoke pipes were removed as part of the process. An estimate was given, in writing, with diagram, for future work to be done. We had no trouble scheduling the appointment. The staff was helpful and friendly.

Gave 3 estimates of work from “cheap” to “most expensive” and discussed each. Settled on $2100 for complete cleaning of fireplace, chimney, as well as repair of masonry & bricks, installation of new liner & hookup to insert. Returned on the agreed upon date and on time. Entire job became much more complicated than anticipated and took almost 7 hours to complete. Anthony & team completed job with good cheer and at original price. Great job! Thanks

EXCELLENT!!! They did a thorough job cleaning both chimneys, provided lots of information and answered all of my questions. They also provided a very fair quote to fix the chimney for our wood pellet stove and we will be scheduling that job very soon!

Jason showed up within the time frame given. Explained scope of work. Also complimented the work that was performed by another company. Which is very rare. Suggested to check the boiler chimney and cleaned that one also. Removed the damper which most other never do. Cleaned up and was done within an hour.

Work is beautiful. But the stove over-fires and fills the house with smoke. Possibly Vermont Casting's fault but Dunrite was unable to resolve. Now they won't come back because I posted the issue online.

Great job done by Jason and his men. Jason was very courteous, and explained everything in an easy to understand way. The job was done well and his team worked hard to finish in one day. Masonry work was done well and they purchased bricks to closely match my old chimney. I was very happy with the professionalism and work performed on my chimney. I thought the price was fair for the work being done. I would hire them again and certainly recommend them.

Our first job consisted of having two chimneys repointed, which our home inspector told us was needed. The guys did a great job and we were very happy with the results. When it came time to replace the gas logs with a gas insert, we came back to Dunrite. Again, they were a pleasure to deal with. Service at the store was great, the unit they recommended for our space was demonstrated. We received a detailed estimate and never felt rushed or pressured. The same guys who worked on the chimneys last year came to install the unit, which has worked flawlessly. Overall, we have been very pleased with Dunrite.

From estimate to the work being performed, we found the company and their employees to be honest, hardworking and very knowledgeable. We originally thought we had a minor crack, but they discovered we had a bigger issue and showed us why and explained the whole process.

We had a provider tell us there was a leak on our roof and ceramic tiles needed to be replaced. I looked in the Angie's List magazine and decided to called Jason from Dunright Chimney & Stove. He came out right away and inspected the chimney and roof and gave us an estimate. He said there was nothing wrong with our roof and that it was perfect but that there was a leak in our chimney. He said it was flat on top and should have been slanted so the water would run down and not sit there. The chute that goes from our heater through the chimney was deteriorated and they put in a new one in for us and repaired the chimney so it was slanted. They were very courteous, they found the problem immediately and repaired it quick. They cleaned up after themselves so well you would never know they were here. I would recommend them to anybody. They had a reasonable price and worked fast.

my furnace stopped working due to blocked chimney. the crew came in about two hours after the call. Quickly identified the problem, and fixed it right away. Definitely A+++ service

All went well, the crew got the job done quickly and cleaned up things well enough that you would not of known they were there. All of my questions were answered until I truly understood how to operate the stove.

Dunrite came promptly and repaired leaks in our roof around the chimney. They also discovered major flaws in that section of the roof which was over the garage. They did a major roofing job as well as repairing masonry and flashing work on the chimney as well as adding new plywood in the garage. Their attention to detail was evident when they went in search of new roofing shingles to match the existing shingles throughout the entire roof. Staff was professional and efficient and did a great job in removing the debris. We have used Dunrite over the years to clean our chimney as well as installing a new glass fireplace which they did last year. They continue to provide excellent service.

Everything was great. I called mid-week and explained we would be closing on a house on Friday. They scheduled me for Saturday to do a "double sweep". They arrived in the specified time window, came in, did the job and were out within an hour.

I was able to have someone come the same day that I called. The person who came was prompt and did an excellent job. He even painted a piece of my fireplace that had rusted on the inside without charging anything extra. He was courteous, answered all my questions and did a thorough job. Would definitely use this company again.

They're definitely excellent because they're licensed. The other company wasn't. They charge $65 just to come in and check it out. I talked to the owner. He is very professional and very knowledgeable. The custom screens that we ordered was about $1000. They know what they're doing.

Provider came about an hour after the given 3-hour window. Otherwise, the job was quick and professional.

We went to Dunrite's location where we got answers to all of our questions and a selection of inserts to choose from (no heavy sales pressure). We went home and chose our insert (Vermont Castings Merrimac). We contacted Dunrite and set the date. They came as promised and installed it in half a day. All went great including clean up. Fired up insert the same day and it is fantastic. Price was high but it was a local business and the service was excellent.

I called Dunrite on Friday, January 10, 2014 for repairs to the gas fireplace and the first appointment I was given was for Wednesday, January 15, 2014 between 1-5pm. I made arrangements to take off from work including 20 minutes traveling time to wait at home for a technician. At 2pm on the day of the scheduled appointment, I received a phone call from Dunrite's office informing me that the technician "was stuck in Nassau County" and would not be able to make the appointment in Westhampton. His assistant apologized knowing that this middle of the day cancellation was outrageous and said she was going to call the technician again to ask him if he could get to me by 5pm. She called me back to inform me that the technician could come Thursday, January 16, 2014. I informed her that I would be unable to be home 2 days in a row nor interested in rescheduling and wasting more valuable time. I asked her who the owner was and she said it was the technician who didn't show. I concluded the conversation by stating I assume he was not interested in future business. I went back to work realizing I will have to take off again for another repair appointment with a different company. If the owner/technician chooses to respond to this review, it should only be an apology and not in his defense. Let me remind him my time is as valuable as his. If I pulled a stunt like that at my job, there would be serious consequences for me. You don't call a customer in the middle of a large window appointment and state you're not coming. To say the least it is totally unprofessional and perhaps he did me a favor. I don't want unaccountable repair people in my home especially dealing with a gas fireplace. In conclusion, Dunrite, you dId wrong and belong in the Hall of Shame. This poor review is a consequence of your inaction.

We visited the storefront showroom location and Ellen was extremely knowledgeable and answered all our questions about wood burning, pellet and gas stoves and inserts. We had lots of questions and were there nearly two hours learning everything about these options. She was patient, helpful, attentive, very knowledgeable about every stat, and gave us the feeling she really knew her stuff. I would certainly consider buying from them once we make a decision what unit(s) to buy. I would add that we showed up 1 hour before the store was closing, and it was the night a blizzard was coming and it was already snowing hard and dark out, and she showed no impatience and trying to kick us out. We even offered to leave considering the above, but she was very professional. I was really blown away.

The owner inspected the chimneys and instructed one of his workers. They were quick and cleaned up after themselves.
