This contractor made an appointment to give an estimate and did not show or or call. Never heard from him again. Not trustworthy.

We were very pleased with the contractors work- he explained the job from beginning to end and did exactly what we agreed upon. He stuck to his word on the price and dealt with whatever was needed to be done. I would high recommend him, and use him again in the future.

We have definitely found our go-to guy for any jobs that we need done around the house. Jim is courteous, punctual, and honest. He always clearly explained the pros and cons of jobs we were trying to do, and gave very reasonable prices. He is crafty and creative, and did not shy away from some unusual work requests like building a custom plywood door for an outdoor basement entrance, finding a way to attach an oversized mailbox, and sealing off our decks with wire netting to keep the critters out. It's piece of mind to know that we have someone dependable to call upon for all those unique jobs that need to get done.

While it took a bit longer than expected to get completed the work was done in a professional fashion.

Got an e-mail from him stating not available until 10/18 for an estimate - I e-mailed back we could meet on Friday, 10/20. He agreed and set up a meeting for that day between 6 and 7pm. He never showed up and never contacted me about a change. Not happy.

Jimmy was always punctual and courteous. His work on installing the cement board and sheet rock was mediocre at best. There was a large space around the tub. The window was all uneven. The cement board was actually wavy. He only shimmed it to straighten it upon request. Some nail spots were not spackled-- again done only on request. The walls and the floor were not exactly level. There was a large space where the wall met the ceiling in one corner. He left it for the tile guy to fix. God is in the details. He did OKAY, just not great. My question would be if it were his own home, would he do the job he did? I doubt it. Now, the wall studs and the floor may not have been perfectly level to start, but .... a carpenter who is very good and precise should be able to make adjustments-- and want to-- to get it just right. That just wasn't our experience with Jimmy.

Since I met Jim in 2010, he has done numerous jobs for me - both big and small. He is a true craftsman. I have never had any complaints about any of the work he has done. He is also very pleasant and mannerly. I leave my house to him for the day without any hesitations. My kitten fell in love with him.

Job went very well. Jim was on time worked efficiently and was open to the "usual extras" that come up on a job. Definitely would recommend and use AJ Home Improvements again. Jim was personable and open to any questions that I had.

GOT THE INITIAL ESTIMATE WHICH WAS A FAIR PRICE. JIM CALLED A FEW DAYS LATER AND SET UP A DATE. HE ARRIVED ON TIME AND DID A GREAT JOB.

Jim was great. Professional, courteous, punctual, hard working. When we were getting no shows for appraisal appointments and responses like "I don't do doors" or "I'm too busy", Jim came by for an appraisal on a Sunday afternoon, started the work just a few days later and fit us into his schedule. We will use him again and have already recommended him to friends!

As detailed in the work performed, I had a variety repairs that needed to be addressed around the house. Jim provided very reasonable prices, was great with communication and highly responsive. He was also very flexible as additional items arose that needed to be addressed. I required someone who I could rely on when these types of issues arise and I'm very happy with the results in every respect. I'd highly recommend him and anticipate using him in the future as needed.

NEVER CALLED BACK TO SET APPOINTMENT

Jim called me within 2 days of my purchase. We set up an appointment for him to come see what work was needed and he was flexible with my time restraints. He was very professional and pleasant upon meeting. Work was discussed and he felt he could accomplish all of it within the parameters of the contract. The day before the scheduled work was overcast and a lot of rain was anticipated for the next day, the day the work was to be done. Jim called early in the day and explained that since he was bringing sheet rock for the wall repair and was to work outside on the steps that we needed to reschedule. We chose the following week. Jim arrived promptly at 9 a.m. He worked diligently for the next 3 hours, fulfilling the contract. My husband & I are very pleased with the work. We feel we more then "got our money's work". I had contacted another provider before seeing Jim's post and his post was for 4 hours work for $149. I didn't respond to it right away and a few weeks later it was 4 hours for $209. I called a rep. and was told that the original post was valid until Dec. 15, 2014. I called the vendor who had gotten very good reviews and left a message with his service. When he called me back he skirted around the issue until I insisted. He said he couldn't do the work for that price but would have one of his men contact me. That never happened. It was then that I saw Jim's post so I'm glad it worked out the way it did.

HE PICKED UP THE PANELING FOR ME. HE PUT UP PANELING AND A TILE FLOOR IN MY BATHROON. HE WAS VERY NEAT AND PUNCTUAL. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE AND WOULD HIRE HIM AGAIN. HE ALSO SANDED DOWN A DOOR THAT WAS RUBBING ON A RUG.

Very fast worker. Very professional. I had to dig up more projects for him to fill the three hours.

Jim was wonderful. He was in phone contact with me so I knew when to expect him. He did a masterful job removing the window from the vinyl siding and replaced it with the new window, carefully. He cleaned up and I have a perfect window now! I would rehire him to do any more of my windows that need replacement!

The kitchen was a disaster. The walls were not square, floor not level. Although Jim ran into many many obstacles, he would let me know what it was could be done, always thinking through the issues that arose and explained to me the way I could understand. Because the house had had many many additions before I ever owned it, floors and walls didn't always match up. At one point when he took down sheetrock and looked at the studs he told me he would need to put in a new header. This meant going into my living room and actually doing something to hold up the wall and ceiling, removed the old wood and replaced it. Jim did an amazing job with what he had to work with. He explained and was straight forward. Nothing would be exact and perfect if you look really really close. However he had said to the eye, the kitchen would look level and square. Omg was he right! As the job progressed I realized he really knew what he was doing. I could not believe what my kitchen looks like now. Never ever thought it could happen. I am so so so happy!

Jim was on time, he started at 8am everyday, when materials were needed, he would pick up prior to coming to my house. The Job took 8 business Days. weather plays a factor, heavy steady rain is the only thing that kept him from coming one day, and he let me know "if the weather for casted" he would be here, and called in the morning to confirm. Jim cleaned up every day before leaving the job, Jim is owner operator and most if the work was done by him, he brought others when needed. He told me the Job would take a bit longer than some of my other estimates because they send a crew. Jim's estimate was one of the middle price range, however after viewing his website and references, I decided the quality and detail of his work was worth a few extra days to complete Jim provided his BBB (better business bureau) certificate as well as explaining he is certified by the vinyl siding institute. he had a valid license in Suffolk county and was insured. the house looked amazing. I have been a repeat customer. He has done a complete kitchen remodel (gutted the kitchen) it looks awesome! replaced windows, and did some work on a detached garage.
