CASTRO CONVERTABLES

I had my Castro Convertible sofa reupholstered in August 2009 for $2000 by a company who also called themselves Castro Convertible (though I don't believe they have any relationship to the original makers of the famous convertible sofas). Though the work appeared to be satisfactory, the company clearly did not want to hear from me in April 2010 after the upholstery on one of the seat cushions began to fray and split at the seam. I was told their workmanship was only guaranteed for 30 days!!! They offered to send someone to my home to look at the cushion and let me know if they could repair it at my expense, provided I was prepared to pay $100 in cash for the visit. I was appalled both at the extremely limited warranty (which seems to me to be license for shoddy workmanship) and at the audacity to ask for a cash payment just to look at the flaw in their own work. My phone calls were not returned and no one appeared to be in charge beyond a fellow named Jim who always answered the phone. In all what started out to be a fairly decent experience turned very sour by the company's lack of responsiveness and willingness to take responsibility for their work. I would neither use them again or recommend them to anyone. Beware, once you pay the bill, you're on your own!

I HAVE BEEN DOING BUSINESS WITH CASTRO FOR OVER THIRTY YEARS. THEY HAVE HANDLED ALL OF MY FURNITURE. THEIR SERVICE IS AMAZING AND THEIR WORK IS BEAUTIFUL.
