Protracted process in attempting to secure work. Requested contract and proof of insurance. Nothing for 3 weeks. Finally received a one-page proposal indicating I would pay for his standby time (for any reason) and was responsible for site preparation and clean up, etc. Very unprofessional experience.

Response from Boyd Artesian Well Co Inc
Mr. [Member Name Removed] had contracted with another company and given them a deposit when that company could not meet his expectations, they referred him to us and returned his deposit. We had provided Mr. [Member Name Removed] with a contract and insurance certificates. We had no signed contract to do any work. Mr. [Member Name Removed] asked us to drill a well and cut tress down on his neighbor's property. He said he had a right away. I had a conversation with the neighbor who said he did not agree to this arrangement. I explained that during the drilling process we do make a mess with drilling cuttings, drilling fluid and stone dust. We can contain the cuttings but the final mess must be cleaned up by others. A great deal of the clean up occurs during the pump installation process. We are upfront with people because we want them to understand what happens when we drill. Our contract always outline standby time and it is explained in detail. Standby time is only charged when a customer does something that prevents us from leaving the site or significantly delays work. The best example was when we drilled a well for a builder. We were on site drilling and the contractor had a stone delivery dumped across the road so when we were finished we could not leave the site. The contractor was only threatened with standby so he would move the stones but never charged in the end. At the end of the last conversation with Mr. [Member Name Removed], I recommend that he hire another driller since I would not meet his expectation on clean up and would not drill or cut down tress on the neighbor's property without written permission from the neighbor in hand.

Description of Work: Henry came to check out a problem with my water pressure that others thought was a well problem. He checked the well and pump and filters and suggested that it was not a well problem, but a plumbing problem connected to my UV filter. He did not charge me for the visit even though he spent quite a bit of time checking things out. | Subsequently I called in a plumber and told him what Henry had suspected. It turned out that his diagnosis was correct! I was very pleased with his expertise and would not hesitate to use him to upgrade my well in the future.

Mr. Boyd came to the house and immediately assessed that our previous well had ran dry .We had absolutely no water and he expeditiously installed an emergency water tank on the property, which provided us with desperately needed water .The workers drilled for three days before they were able to reach the water table. Unfortunately, the whole necessary process really destroys the landscape. Mr. Boyd was very apologetic, but the work had to be done in order to excavate for water.

Unless your name is Noah or you own an ark..can.not recommend!! House FLOODED TWICE related to this and quot;repairand quot; job. had a broken underground well pipe soaking our lawn and allowing excessive sediment to enter our our house filter. We got several estimates...boyd wasnt the lowest or highest but did have a flat price. They replaced only about 5 ft of pipe. We continued to have low pressure and sediment. called Boyd who came back out to look at our filter. Told us to shock (chlorinate) our well due to excessive iron bacteria, which our area does have. No improvement. They came back out again and confirmed there must be additional pipe leaks so theyd have to replace entire length of pipe to the house, including the 5ft they already did; Boyd would not credit any amount of of the first job even tho the original issue was never resolved! (But we figured he now knows issue after 3 visits and didnt want to start over!) Two days after they finished it rained hard. came home on a Friday evening to a flooded entire first floor of house..3 rooms including carpeted finished basement (In 10 years here we've never experienced this!) Boyd and the 2 guys who did the work came right out and agreed it appeared source of the water came from new holes they drilled into the foundation to connect new well pipe. but they couldnt address fixes til Tuesday...3 days later!! Approx. 2 weeks later, another flood!! This time it came from the new pipe They also installed on the INSIDE! Boyd himself acknowledged immediately that pipe fitting was tightened too much and eventually cracked from pressure of water! Boyd was willing to fix it but after 3 encounters and 2 floods, we decided to call a different plumber for peace of mind (and upon hearing our distress, plumber #2 offered to replace the entire length of cheap PVC piping Boyd Co. used inside with a much higher quality pipe). The guys did actually help to clear water out of our house after flood #1 and were generally pleasant/sympathetic and answering our questions. Boyd himself was also relatively responsive given the circumstances and agreed to reimburse us for estimated cost of carpeting (minus the cost of the job however). Unfortunate the quality of workmanship doesnt match their attitude. And the and quot;compensationand quot; certainly didn't cover the time we had to take off from work for all the fixes, dealing with remediation and contractors, the 2nd plumber, and general stress from the entire fiasco. Interestingly, i noticed at one point in time there were 3 reviews (2 A and an F) for Boyd. Now only the two A ratings seem to appear...?

Owner is very unprofessional. Family run business so you have no recourse when they take you to the cleaners.
Description of Work: This company is the most dishonest company I have ever dealt with. Stay far away from them ! They will take your money destroy your well beyond repair and then try to over charge you to drill another one.

Ms. [Member Name Removed] paid us a total of $2700 to redevelop her well. We guarantee that if the homeowner is not satisfied with the flow of the well they can received a credit of half the cost of the hydrosurge toward deepening or drilling a new well.

They were punctual. When he had to get a building permit he went down and did it right away. He got it in immediately, got it going and was sensitive to the issue of us not having any water so he expedited everything. He got the job done by working all day. They did a good job.

The best was to be informed along the way of all issues, problems, concerns, etc. associated with the well remediation -- he was professional in his estimate, discussionon my options for hydro-surging and fracking along with his recommendation for this well in particular, Henry has been in the business several decades and has developed some keen knowledge about the geo formations in the western CT area and has used that insight to develop his remediation techniques for these deep wells.
Description of Work: Henry Boyd, owner of Boyd's Artesian Well Co. Inc, was contacted about reviewing my well and proposing a remediation plan to increase the well recovery which had dropped to .5 gpm from the original of 4.5 gpm when origianlly drilled in 1984. I used his option to have a water tank and pressure system while my well was being remediated and am I glad I did...the job was supposed to take a few day, but weather as well as physical issues with the original well made that time stretch to two(2) weeks...Henry was alway there to explain as well as keep my water tank filled for use while my well was out of commission. Henry originally selected to use hydro surging to break down the build up on the walls and open up the flows into the well so that water recovery of the well would return close to the original. The hydo surging while it worked did not provide the flow sought so Henry subsequently suggestted fracking the well ( I had choosen the hydro surging at first since it was cheaper than the fracking) since it appeared that the hydro surging was not providing the recommended or required flow characteristic. The fracking worked, with a water recovery and water clarity better than I have every had a the house since 1997. All workers were professional, the work crews cleaned up following the day and I feel the Boyd did an outstanding job, given several of the physical issues with the original well and their expertise to work thur those issues with a solution.
