The top of the stoop that was extended into a porch is fine. The walls coming down from the porch, however, are stained with white, I guess, lime from the concrete that they used. The side walk going to the driveway is pitched incorrectly, so water pools towards the retaining wall. Plus the low brick edging/small brick wall isn't level. The walkway leading down to the sidewalk while installed correctly isn't proportioned properly. The walkway looks too narrow. I feel it's my fault for allowing the walkway to the sidewalk go without saying anything. I think that's due to my inexperience I have called repeatedly and they never got back to me. Now the phone number is just one of those automated messages. No live person ever answers the phone. I am very disappointed. I put my trust in this company because they were recommended to us by another company we have done business with. I also didn't hover over them because I assumed they were the professionals. Very disappointing. I am now going to call in someone else, spend more money to correct what they did incorrectly. BTW, we used Cambridge Pavers, which the pavers which we're very happy with and they're not the reason for the lime stains.
Description of Work: Replaced and extended existing stoop into a porch. Replaced existing walkway down to sidewalk. Added a side walk to the driveway with a low brick edging/small brick wall, I guess you call it.

It was hard to talk to the man from John Lopes Construction probably because he was frustrated that we didn't make up our mind right away and he was working for the contractor so he didn't want to deal with us which we understand because there's that chain of command. We ended up going through our contractor to communicate with him. He was pretty inexpensive and we would use him again if we knew what we wanted to do ahead of time. He doesn't want to deal with people who are unsure and need direction. He's not a designer. He's more of a hard laborer and wants to get it done. He's a good laborer though.
Description of Work: John Lopes Construction did the blue stone masonry for our stoop.

The experience was excellent. They did a great job of doing it. They did it right by laying the sand and the whole thing is perfect. They were timely and they were here when they said they would. His price was excellent considering what he was doing for me. He wasn't the cheapest but he was the best. I have recommended him and I would use him again.
Description of Work: I used John Lopes Construction to put in an all brick walk.

He did a terrific job last year, and he came back and did a really good job this year. His price was very good. It was very reasonable. It is a dad and son run company. He was really great, and I was very happy with him. His price was really good in comparison to the steep prices in the area. He took care of all my problems.
Description of Work: John Lopes Construction does driveways and sideways. He just finished the sidewalk for me. He put a brick walk around my house. It is a driveway that was getting too much water in it.

When they arrived Nuno's dad ran his big truck right under a neighbors tree breaking several branches. He stepped out of the truck and and laughed it off. I should have know then that this would not go as i hoped. They put in a slab for the sunroom and one of the guys cleaned out a cement bucket in my yard where i later discovered a pool of dried cement under my cypress trees. There was cement splashed over several decorative stepping stones as well. They also put in a sidewalk on the side of the house which was necessarily higher than the previous walkway. The problem is that 1) they had to remove a gate which they said they would cut to fit the higher walkway and they didn't which ultimately led to the gate falling on me 2 days later sending me to the hospital.2) they told me they would add some bricks to the edge of the walkway to match nearby bricks but the new bricks they put in were no match. When i did have a question about several hairline cracks in the slab nuno stopped taking my calls and refused to come by until the contractor for the sunroom encouraged him. I was nice to these guys - bought them lunch 1 day and provided all the water they wanted. In the end everything looked ok but i felt i should have paid a few bucks more for someone more responsible.
Description of Work: Nuno put in a slab for a new sunroom and a new back stoop with a sidewalk alongside the house from front to back.

I got bids from three companies, theirs was the lowest and they did not try to talk me into building a cinder block wall instead of a solid concrete one as others did when I expressed concern about the cost. A friend had used them and recommended them so I broke the old rule about not taking the lowest bid and was very pleased with their work. They came with an obviously experienced crew and completed the work in 3 1/2 days instead of the predicted 4. They did an excellent job of protecting as much of my lawn and plantings as possible and cleaned up completely. They even provided a stucco coating on the wall which was not included in the estimate just because they wanted it to look better.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced retaining wall around my corner house property and replaced the steps from sidewalk into my yard. Provided a poured concrete "footer" below ground level, a poured concrete wall topped with bricks and brick steps. Also replaced wooden raised planting bed with a brick one.
