When I called Murray's to schedule our annual heating system check up, I expected the efficient professionalism we've come to know and appreciate. What I didn't expect were the unanticipated surprises: a hole in our chimney flue which was allowing dangerous substances, like carbon monoxide, to circulate in our home, and a leaky water heater which wasn't even on the list of things that needed to be checked. Because of the small area in which all of these items reside, fixing the chimney flue was not as easy as simply removing the defective parts and installing new ones. Mike Hajjar had to redesign and then recreate the entire system, which he did immediately, with skill and grace. And learning about the defective water heater, given today's significant supply chain problems, I was afraid it would take weeks or even months for everything to get fixed. But because Mike knew exactly whom to call, both of our old water heaters were replaced within two days! And, as if all that weren't enough, when I reached out to Murray's with questions I had forgotten to ask, I received answers immediately. Now that's what I call SERVICE!!
Description of Work: $117 for heating system checkup and $650 + tax to redesign and rebuild our duct system and chimney flue. Would have listed this below but there wasn't enough space.

Murray's was terrific! They came to the house to assess the situation and offered a frank review of what needed to be done, as well as recommendations for the part they couldn't do. Hot water tank was replaced, and the company even returned - at no cost - to re-route venting and replace rusted duct, as was agreed to. Great job - I'd hire them again in a heartbeat!

Our old AC unit was over 30 years old. The technicians did a fabulous job with installing the new AC unit as well as replacing the old wiring. They worked from 8 am - 9 pm and even did a follow up a few days later to ensure everything was working well. In addition to replacing the AC unit, we also had our humidifier replaced a few months ago. A few years, we had also replaced our furnace for a new one and the job was done very well. The pricing is very fair and reasonable and quality of service is excellent.

There were between 2-4 technicians at my house for 2 days. They kept me informed of their progress and answered my questions. It’s a long story but Mike was especially helpful in getting things sorted out and on track after bad experience with a prior contractor.

Better than great. Dan showed up promptly for the appointment to estimate and send me a proposal; he spent quite a bit of time and looked at all the duct work as well as the furnace. I received the proposal as promised that evening. It was acceptable, and in the range of what I expected to pay. We set the appointment. The morning of the appointment I received a call from Michelle, who informed me that while loading the furnace I had purchased, a dent was discovered, and they wanted to know if it was okay for them to give me the next furnace up- upgrade to a 96% efficiency furnace at no extra cost! The installers, Chris and Mike, showed up on time and spent 10 1/2 hours doing this job. They not only installed the furnace, they repaired all the ducts where needed, checked and sealed the entire hvac system, rerouted the hvac drain so it wasn't sticking out in the hallway- and more, and maybe I haven't used correct terms for what I just said. They were cheerful and never complained, and when I said, this can't be a normal amount of time, the response was, well, this is a challenging job. When completed, they had me fill out paperwork so Michelle could process my National Grid rebate for me, and left my house clean. - When they pulled up and I saw the sign on their truck about exceeding customer expectations for years, I didn't think much about it, but I must say, truer words were never spoken. I will recommend this company to anyone and everyone I ever hear of in need of hvac.

BEWARE!!! Terrible experience with this company! My furnace was only blowing heat sporadically. A technician came out and "repaired" the furnace for $198.72. Ten minutes after the man left, the furnace was still doing the same thing. Whatever work he did on the furnace was not the problem. I immediately called them and it took 16 days to get someone to return. Thankfully, we have a gas fireplace that we were able to use to keep the house remotely warm. The second time they were here, more work was done and the problem was still not fixed. However, their recommendation at this time was to disassemble the furnace to clean all the componants at a cost of an additional $400 or consider replacing. The furnace was 15 years old and we had no idea of it's history since we only owned the house for a year. Spending an additional $400 wouldn't make sense. So, now we're out $198.72 and need to replace our furnace. We called around and got estimates and replaced the furnace with a different company. Not only because they didn't offer to refund the almost $200 we had already spent with no results but also the 16 days it took for them to come back. Well, it doesn't end there! Imagine my surprise when a month later I receive a bill for the second visit of $145.80!!! Here is the exact wording on this bogus bill: "THIS BILL WAS HELD FOR 30 DAYS TO MAKE SURE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED, CUSTOMER WAS TOLD THEY WOULD GET CREDIT FOR THIS BILL IF THEY HAD FURNACE REPLACED WITH US WITHIN 30 DAY." I immediately called and spoke with Michelle and told her we wouldn't be paying this bill because they never fixed the furnace. If anything they should be returning the $198.72 that I already paid them for nothing. A month later we received the same bill again with a handwritten note saying "I spoke to you over phone and you stated that Isaac's was replacing your furnace. This bill is past due. Payment is appreciated to void (avoid I assume) being sent to collections. Thank You in advance." Again, I called and told Michelle I would not be paying this bill since they already had almost $200 of my money with nothing to show for it except a recommendation to replace our furnace and now a threat of a collection agency. Well...you guessed it! This shady company sent the bill to Simon's Collection Agency and I disputed the charges in writing. The dispute was completely ignored and this bill for $145.80 is now my one and only Derogatory Mark on my credit score with Equifax that will affect my score for 6-10 years. Bottom line is I still refuse to pay this bill because we don't owe them anything more. They have wrongfully abused their ability to affect someones credit score for many years. The Better Business Bureau told me to contact Murray's Heating & Air Conditioning, LLC and try to work this out before filing a complaint with them. I spoke with Michelle on September 10, 2019 and she said to go ahead and write this review. Here it is. I will continue to update this review in my pursuit of removing this Derogatory Mark off of my credit score. I have complete documentation for this incident if anyone would like to see everything, feel free to contact me.

I posted an earlier negative review that I can't figure out how to edit. I wrote it this morning when I was frustrated, because I had waited nearly three weeks and requested vacation time to get them here only to have them call and say they were going to be late into the evening (I had plans). However, they were not actually that late - only about 2 hours, and the guys who came were awesome - super professional, problem solved, answered all my questions and left with the unit working beautifully. They also helped me understand my options for the future to get better heat into that addition. So, while it was a long wait, I had to use vacation time that I wound up not needed (they came after my work hours) and I had some initial frustration, they definitely made it right by showing up and not leaving till i had AC in my bedroom again. I thank them.

The repairman arrived the day I called, which was unbelievable considering it was right after Labor Day weekend, and the temperature was in the high 90s. I figured they'd be booked, but they fit me in. After thoroughly going over the system, it was determined that there was a broken wire near the furnace in the basement. He replace that, and the system is as good as new.

I reached out to this business based on the Angie List ratings, so it was very a disappointing experience to find the company lacks professionalism and customer/ communication skills. On On 5/22/18 I called Murray's office asking for an estimate on a replacement for both a central air system and a boiler in my home - a good chunk of work. I was initially very pleased when they scheduled an appointment for the estimate for the next morning. On 5/23 the owner showed up, seemed very pleasant and thanked me for the estimate request. While at the visit, I noticed that he did not measure any of my baseboard radiators and did not fully enter the attic space to take measurements or inspect the air handler. Because of the lack of response from Murray's (explained below) I later worked with 2 other companies to get estimates, and both of these companies did measurements and a load calculation to confirm my systems were sized correctly. Murray's did not do this. As the owner was leaving he told me I could expect an estimate via email in the next day or two. After a week had passed, I called the office on 5/31 to ask when I could expect the estimate. The woman on the phone promised me I would get it by noon the next day. After another week had passed, I called the office again on 6/7, asking what was going on. I was told again I would get an estimate by noon the next day. I also sent an email on 6/7 to the email address the owner wrote down on his business card. I summarized who I was, what we talked about and what he had promised to provide an estimate for, included my address and contact info. I confirmed the office had my contact details and address from the initial visit, via phone - thinking maybe something got misplaced or forgotten. Both the call and email went ignored. I tried one final time to give Murray's my business, and called the office again on 6/13. At this point I was already thinking that I would not be able to trust the business to provide a dependable service, but I was hoping to see if the owner had an explanation for the very poor communication up to this point. When I spoke to the woman in the office, I asked why my calls had gone ignored, and could someone please contact me. She could not give me a reason, but confirmed she had my information already, apologized, and told me she would call the owner right away and that I should expect a call right back. I also sent another email asking the owner to contact me, even if for some reason he did not want the job, so that I could move forward to get the work done somewhere else. This call and email also went ignored. As of today, it's been a month since the initial visit, with absolutely no response from 3 calls and 2 emails to the business, and multiple promises from their office to send an estimate and return calls. As someone that deals with customer service, I find this to be terrible business practice and I am left confused as to how they ever received Super Service Awards on Angie's List. I could understand a delay during busy season, but I can't get a 5 minute call in over 3 week's time? After my 3rd ignored call from Murray's, I started calling other companies. Two other companies that I called conducted a full visit within a week and one of them had an estimate to me by the end of that week, by mail, in a professional binder. That company also offered me very reasonable discounts for cash payment and for committing to both a/c and boiler jobs, plus an appointment for install within another week. That company will be getting my business. I would name who they are, but I am unsure if that is allowed on this site. I also know which company I will be recommending to people to avoid... Note to Murray's: I would still love to know what ever happened. Why was I repeatedly ignored?

I do apologize for the delay you experienced in getting a quote. This is certainly not the way we do things. We have had an exponential growth period as well as a resulting shortage of manpower to deal with, as skilled tradesmen are fewer and fewer in this country. While we endeavor to prevent things from slipping through the cracks, on rare occasions they may and we need to work harder to prevent future occurrences. We are confident now that we have bolstered the ranks with qualified new people and the "growing pains" are over. Thank you again for the opportunity and good luck with your new system.

Mixed emotions on this company. They showed up late for their first appointment even after the owner promised me they would be here by 8:15 a.m. Normally it wouldn't have been as big a deal except for I had explained at the estimate that I had to be at a meeting at work that day so they had to be here on time so I had time to go over everything and make it to work before my meeting. I was assured they would be here by 8:15. They didn't show up until 8:40. Then when they arrived they informed me that they were not doing all of the work they were scheduled to do. It was winter, it was cold. I get that it was too cold that day to run the new gas lines for me but they never bothered to discuss the change with me. I found out when the two guys showed up and told me. When I called I was told they lost my number and couldn't call me. I was also told they would come back another time to complete the work that I hired them for (gas lines). Needless to say, here we are 6 months later and they never came back to do the rest of the work so the gas lines were never done. The installation of the humidifier went okay as far as I knew but there were some issues with it not actually putting humidity into the house. A 2nd guy came to take a look and said it was because of my radiant floors. He seemed to know what he was talking about but he spoke to me like I was an idiot and kept telling me the same thing over and over again like I was incapable of comprehending what he was saying to me. It was pretty insulting. The humidity still didn't improve after the 2nd visit. I will say, he did call and leave me a message to check on the levels but when I returned his call and left a message he never called again until I followed up again a week or two later. He came again and hooked the system up differently and I never heard from them again. Unfortunately what he did the last time compromised other things in my house that I now have to address and I was told the unit installed may not have been the right one for a house this size. So, there were pro's and con's to their service. It's a shame because I do have a lot of HVAC work I want or need to have done in this house (it's a new house to me) so it's very disappointing that they left me with such a bad taste in my mouth and never completed the full scope of work I was promised. It could have worked out to be a lot of work for them in the long run.

Pete diagnosed both problems in a methodical manner and was able to repair the furnace on the spot. Humidifier had a bad solenoid and since it was at least 20 years old, we decided to replace it. Mike came a couple of days later and installed the new humidifier, control unit, and saddle valve. Was very particular in going the extra distance to clean the cold air return and all parts he came in contact with. Was happy with their promptness, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Mike was absolutely awesome! I called at 9:30 am and was told a technician would be out by 1pm. Then at 11 I got a call that they’d be there even sooner. Talk about promptness! Not only did Mike resolve our issue (no pressure in our boiler) he went above and beyond in explaining everything and making sure we wouldn’t run into other issues. We were so satisfied we scheduled a boiler cleaning and will definitely be using Murray’s again.

They replaced a 25 year old furnace with a Luxaire furnace and central air unit. They completed the project in about 10 hours. Joe and his team were very professional, clean and worked through their lunch and breaks. So far so good. Furnace and air conditioning are working flawlessly. The price was right !
