We had carpet installed in our living room, dining room, stairs, hallway, and the master bedroom. They sub-contract whoever comes and does their carpet laying. I did not like the guy at all; he was a jerk. I kicked him out of my house. There was two reasons: one, I had a cat that when we first moved in was marking its territory and the guy just had a fit about that; and then he didn't want me to clean with bleach because he doesn't like the smell of bleach and I'm thinking - I'm paying the money here, buddy. You work for me, I don't work for you. And then I hired him on the side, which Kenny Carpets said was fine, to like re-do some ... I wanted the stripping to match on that linoleum I have until I get it replaced, so he charged me $300 to do this work himself and it was done very poorly. I called Kenny Carpets and complained about it; they came out and had their main guy come out and do it, and I'm still not impressed with it, not happy with it. And so they won't be getting any more work from me. The carpeting looked like one color in the store room, and here and then when I got it, it looked like a totally different colored carpet. So I wasn't real thrilled with the color. It was supposed to be a gray and it looks more like a blue. Next time when I have more carpeting done in here, I'm going to use another provider because they have the same kind of carpet now - it's called like a pet carpeting where like if you .... I should clarify ourselves. We have 4 cats and 3 dogs and our animals don't go through the house destroying it, making messes or stuff, but obviously every now and then if you get a sick animal or something, they'll have an accident. This carpeting doesn't hold odors - that's why I bought it - that's why it was so much more expensive and that's what we love. I have a carpet cleaner, I clean everything, I pre-treat, clean it, and I have the right stuff to clean it; I don't use ammonia-based products on it. I actually have researched and got several things to do it with, but it doesn't hold odors. This is why we purchased this carpeting. Our house has beautiful hard woods in it. We just put carpeting over it because our older dog does not like hard wood. She's terrified of it, so she won't walk on them. We put new carpeting in because the house, when we bought it, the carpeting was awful so we had to re-do it. We spent some good money on it, but they're just not getting my service again.

First of all the carpeting is beautiful! Softest carpet I have ever had so I am glad I purchased it. It was in stock and I was promised a date for installation so I took a day off work (vacation day!!). Waited all day and the installers did not show up. Salesman gave them the wrong phone # to contact me. I called Kenny 3 times that day and they kept lying to me telling me "they are on the way". Next day was Saturday and the manager finally assured me that they would show up at 9am. Well they finally showed up...at noon. The installers are an independent company so I do not blame them..they get WAY overbooked by Kenny. But I was really angry that Kenny employees kept lying to me and I wasted a vacation day on them. I would never buy anything from them again as customer service is so poor. The rating I gave is based on the quality of the carpet and nothing else

Positive purchase experience all around. Ryan at the Transit Rd. store was a pleasure to work with. After discussing our needs, he showed us appropriate products and options. After doing some research, I ended up confirming that one of the options he steered us to in the first place was a good choice. Price was competitive. Installation done well and in reasonable time frame. Product performing well.

We ordered the carpet, took two weeks to come in. Called them to change the installation date, no problem. We had to move a lot of stuff to non carpet area, drawers from dressers, small tables and chairs, etc. The installers took apart two beds, moved 11 larger items, and installed the carpet. The installers returned everything they moved. They came before nine and were done by one. We bought high end carpet, there was no odor or fuzz problem, vacuumed once and it's perfect.

It went very well. The salesman brought samples to my home for me to look at and was very patient while I was making up my mind. He had some very good suggestions which helped me make my decision. I couldn't have the carpets installed right away due to my rooms being painted. They stored the carpets until I was able to have my rooms done and then they came in and installed the rugs. The installers were very quick and efficient. I was very happy with everything.

He did an excellent job. If you want a carpet, he would bring you samples to your house to pick out and he gives you good price. Then, he also lays the carpet. The stretching was about $120 and the other was $150, but I had to pay for the material and he lays the floors. He does a very good job and he cleans of afterwards so you do not have any problem. I thought he was fairly priced. He was very on-time and professional.
Description of Work: I have used Kenny Discount. He lays carpet. I had to have my carpet stretched which is not easy to do. He and another fellow cleared of all my furniture. He used a spang and used their foot. They hit it with their legs. It is a hard job. He has done other work for me in years. He also lays tiles in the kitchen. He did that for me and in my other house.

Eric was a pleasure to deal with. Very professional and responsive to all my questions, including followups to several email questions. Price was not the best, but was average for other retail floor dealers who also use sub-contractors for installation. Unfortunately he was not able to eliminate the provisions of the standard Kenny Carpet's contract that I think are unacceptable for consumers: 1. Kenny Carpet disclaims all warranties, including delivery warranty and warranty for the particular purpose for which the flooring was being purchased. The consumer might as well buy the flooring direct and hire the sub-contractors, cutting out the middle man if the middle man won't take any responsibility for the installation or the performance of the product. In essence, the Kenny Carpet contract states that if something goes wrong, don't call Kenny Carpet - the consumer will have to chase down the manufacturer of the flooring and the sub-contractors who installed it. 2. Kenny Carpets wanted 20% down but would not agree to place the down payment in a construction trust account in accordance with the New York State lien law. Consumers should ever agree to allow a home improvement contractor use a down payment to pay expenses for other projects. Requiring that the down payment be placed in a New York Lien law account assures the consumer that the down payment will only be used for the expenses associated with the consumer's particular project. Otherwise, the consumer's down payment is being used as an interest free loan by the retailer. 3. Kenny Carpets could not give a date certain or even a range of dates for completion of the project. Without a date certain or at least a specified range of dates, the consumer has to wait until the home improvement contractor decides to do the project. Other retail floor sellers probably have similar anti-consumer contracts. I won't contract with those who insists on including those anti-consumer provisions in their contracts. Although not illegal, they are certainly very unfavorable to the consumer. I think a retailer should stand behind the products it sells rather than disclaiming all warranties. I think a retailer should hold down payments in trust and only use them for the particular customer's project. I think a retailer selling installation services should be able to give a consumer at least a range of dates.

Upon arriving, we were greeted by Eric. He was personable, professional and above all, very knowledgeable about the carpet industry. We appreciated the fact that he took the time to thoroughly explain and show us all the possible types and styles of carpet available. He was not one of those pushy salespersons trying to make a commission or trying to sell us the most expensive carpet in the showroom but instead he helped us decide on which carpet best suited our needs. We were impressed with the the carpet removal and installation crew led by Jeff. They were courteous, professional and definiately hardworking. They had the old padding and carpet rolled up and brought to the curb, staples pulled out from the floor and they even swept up afterwards, all in a matter of minutes. The carpet installation went well. They made sure the carpet was pulled tight and that the seams were fused together precisely making it appear like it was one large piece of carpet. Kudos to Kenny Carpets!

My wife and I went to the showroom where Eric helped us out with everything, start to finish. He lent us a carpet sample to take home so we could pick colors and then came out a few days later to measure for an exact estimate. They had to order the carpet we were looking at which only took 4 days to come in then we had the install. A total of two weeks time and we had the installers out. They were independent contractors for Kenny carpets and were very courteous and did a nice job with the install.

I went to the showroom, selected the rug and wanted the salesperson to come home, measure and provide an accurate estimate. I called back after a week, no response. Spoke to another salesperson, said leave the msg for the person you spoke to and he will call back. After waiting to hear back 10 more days, I hired another person and got the work done to satisfaction. They had great collection, courteous and good quality. However, in retail business, loosing a customer for whatever reason, ain't gonna go far.

We were very impressed with the whole team at Kenny's. Eric at the store was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating as we went through the decision-making process, and then an amazing problem-solver when a flight delay meant we couldn't get back in time for the carpet installation date - he managed to reschedule us at a weekend with just a couple of days' notice, to ensure the work was complete before our house move. The installation team was also terrific - on time, professional, hard working and willing to answer all our questions and make adjustments. The stair carpet needed some additional binding and they willingly got it done and came back another day to install it with no extra charge. All in all Kenny's exceeded our expectations and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them!

Love the carpet . The salesman Gene Lavin was excellent in helping me select the color and type of carpet for my bedrooms and hall that coordinated with the floors that were next to the rug. When the job was completed he stopped to check the job. This the third flooring we have had Kenny Carpet do for us. We had kitchen and bathroom inlaid and living room carpet installed 02/12. Again the salesman was Gene Lavin and again he was extremely helpful in helping with my selections. The installers were vey professional and did a great job. The lines on the tiles in the inlaid going down the stairs were matched perfectly. There were two little problems that developed with the inlaid and there was no problem getting them fixed. We also had indoor/outdoor carpet installed in our family room on 03/12. This job also looks great and we are most pleased. On top of it all the prices were very much in our budget. You won't be disappointed with Kenny Carpet and we highly recommend Gene Lavin.

We had a very disappointing experience with Kenny Carpets. We chose our flooring at the West Seneca Kenny Carpet store on Transit Road. Our salesman was Mike. He was helpful and advised us about the pros and cons of each type of flooring. Mike said the installers would move up to 2 pieces of furniture if needed and that he would schedule someone to come out and measure the floor. The man that came to measure was very pleasant, but I thought it was a little odd that he requested we remove all of the molding because it could get banged up by the installers if we left it for them to remove. Nevertheless, we removed the molding and everything in the room except a twin bed frame. The installation was scheduled for 10/4/12 at 10am. On 10/3/12, I received a message from Loretta at the West Seneca store confirming the installation time. About 15 minutes later I received a call from a man named Jerry. He said that he would not be able to have an installer come out the following day because the installer had cut his finger and he had no one else who could do the job. He then said he would not be able get an installer to come out for another week because they had other jobs to do in the meantime. I explained that it would be difficult to wait a whole week because we had already moved the furniture to other parts of the house and we also disconnected a gas stove heater and the room would not have heat. I explained that my mother has dementia and the disruption makes life very difficult. Jerry said there was nothing he could do and he couldn't "sew the finger up". The installation was then scheduled for 10/11/12 at 10am. On 10/10/12 I received a message from Loretta confirming the appointment. Again, about 15 minutes later I got a message from Jerry. He said that he saw we wanted the installer to come after 10am (allowing time for me to drop my mother off at her program). He said he wanted to come "much earlier" like 8am because they want to "get it done". He left his phone number and said I could call him any time night or day. I was able to make arrangements for my mother and decided to let them come at 8am. I called Jerry and left him the message. Unbelievably, at 7:59am on 10/11/12 I got a call from Jerry saying he didn't know when the installer would come. He said the installer has MS and might be "coming down with something", he said he couldn't get in touch with him and didn't know where he was. I reminded him that he had asked for the earlier time. I also told him that I had gone to the trouble of making alternate arrangements in order to accomodate them and that I expected the installer to arrive shortly. He said he would have the installer call me. Kenny, the installer, called at 9:15am and said it would take him about an hour because he had some other things to take care of first. He arrived a little after 10am. Kenny was by himself. He asked for our help with moving the bed and with bringing the flooring into the house. It's important to note that the installation cost was $600.00 and we didn't expect to be the installer's helper. Kenny completed the installation, collected the balance of the payment from us, and left. We got a call on 10/12/12 from Mike. He asked if we paid the installer with a credit card. I said no. He said that we needed to pay the balance. I said we gave the installer a check. He asked who the installer was. I told him it was Kenny. He said he would get in touch with him. He asked how everything went. I told him I was on the way out but would call him later. I called Mike later and told him everything that happened with scheduling the installer. He said that they don't do business like that and that he would be in touch with the service department to get to the bottom of it. He said he appreciated that I brought it to his attention. I told him that I had also noticed a bump about 4 inches long and 1 inch wide right when you walk in the door to the den. It could not be pressed down and was easily visible in a high traffic spot. He said he would send an order to the service department on the following Monday morning. It is now Tuesday evening and I haven't heard anything from Kenny Carpets about fixing the defect or the inconvenience of having the installation rescheduled 3 times to accomodate the installers. I called Mike seeking follow-up and he just gave more excuses. We continue to await a response from the service department. We still have carpeting in five rooms that needs to be replaced and would prefer to work with the same company but, after such a frustrating experience, we will definitely be going elsewhere.
Description of Work: We had top quality vinyl flooring installed in a 12X20 family room/den. The old carpet was glued down and had to be scraped off of the wood subfloor first. There is a defect in the floor from poor installation and we are still waiting for it to be repaired.

Our overall experience was horrible. The ceramic installer was either late, or didn't show up at all. He tiled over our dishwasher area, and then laughed that we'd never be able to replace it. I complained to Kenny Carpets and they appeared concerned. Neil, the installer told me they said I was a complainer and a bother. Carpeting wasn't much better, work was done quickly, but poorly. Installers even asked for food and drink. Even though I bought high end carpeting it began to fail quickly. Kenny Carpets refused to do anything about it. The salesman Scott likes to sell, but has absolutely no skills beyond that. Expensive, worthless work. We had all replaced within two years. Stay away from Kenny Carpets.
