Sara at Hertel Hardware & Plumbing was courteous and professional. She provided me with estimates which helped me estimate the cost of the work. My bathtub was not draining after showering. Hertel Hardware & Plumbing snaked the clog and completed the work in approximately 15 minutes. They were prompt and cleaned up after they work was done. I would recommend them to anyone.

I opened the basement door one morning to find a couple inches of water covering about 20% of my basement. I was having a large, heavy Christmas gift delivered to the basement later that afternoon, so was concerned about getting the problem fixed as soon as possible. I called Hertel plumbing but they were all booked that day. They took my number in case something opened up. In the meantime I contacted another plumber who said they would try to come out later that afternoon. Hertel plumbing called back less than an hour later and said one of their crew was in the neighborhood, would be available in about an hour, and asked if I still needed assistance. I said yes and cancelled the service call with the other plumber. Hertel plumbing was there an hour later as promised, and after careful inspection of the situation, determined that my sump pump was no longer working. He didn't have a replacement in his truck, but left and returned with a new sump pump within 30 minutes. In less than a half hour, the sump pump was replaced and working like a charm. Very professional service. Would definitely call them again.

We called around 1pm they came by 3 and in and out in half an hour. Great service so happy they came before a huge snowstorm.A+++++++++.

Mike (?) removed the toilet, replaced the wax ring and bolts, and tightened up the tank so that we had a completely functional toilet. Fast and efficient, done in less than 1/2 hour. Would recommend them again.

I am very thankful that the 2 extra times he came out on last minute notice to help us keep our sewer running.

The person who came for the estimate was professional and knowledgeable. The estimate was the "middle" one. The work was started and completed as stated.There was only one minor detail that was not completed by the plumbers. I did not contact the company I instead completed the job myself as it was after hours when I noticed that the electrical ground wire had not been attached to the new water pipe.

We recently moved into our home and needed to correct corroded leaky piping in the basement and also had problems with rusty water coming from the bathtub faucet, and lack of water flow/pressure in the kitchen sink and a 2nd floor bathroom. We also elected to replace the hot water tank as it was over 15 years old and not efficient. The overall opinion is mixed and unfortunately we have been left disappointed in a number of areas - the actual plumbing work that was done with the basement looks great but the job was not finished as agreed upon and there was damage to our appliances. Positives: The new water heater is far more efficient, the piping in the basement looks very good, and the water flow to the upstairs bathroom has been restored and the rusty bath water has resolved. Negatives: our brand new washer and dryer which were in impeccable condition now have dents and scratches sustained during installation of pipes and the heater. The plumbers neglected to cover the washer/dryer before beginning work and although we did ask them if there was anything we needed to do with the area prior to them beginning services, they did not ask us to cover the washer/dryer or ask us to provide anything to them to cover the washer/dryer. We are quite disappointed about the disregard for our personal property. The 2nd floor bathroom sink which had very low cold water pressure was corrected but only after having to remind the plumber that this was part of the problem which had been discussed beforehand and although the water now works, the faucet handle was not properly reattached at the end of the service. He seemed reluctant but ultimately agreed that this was indeed part of the reason we called for service. Lastly, the kitchen sink which had low water pressure both hot and cold is still not functioning properly and is even worse than before the service. It is a brand new faucet which we considered replacing because of its appearance but ultimately just decided to save the money and not buy a new faucet. I have no idea what the plumber did underneath the sink on this but in addition to the bad water pressure, we cannot use the cold water anymore because it now leaks under the sink. When we asked what do do, he said didn't know what the problem was and didn't offer any resolution beyond suggesting we put something underneath to catch the dripping water and call again for another $35 service call once we buy a new faucet because it was possibly a bad faucet. It was evident that he was just ready to get out of work for the day whether the entire service was completed or not. Although we are happy to have the corroded pipes and water heater replaced and the quality of that particular work looks good so far - the negatives have outweighed the positives with the experience. We chose this plumbing service in part because of positive reviews on Angie's list but would likely not choose them again. For nearly $2000, I'm quite sure we could have chosen a different service that would have completed the job without damaging our appliances and that would have not left us with a still malfunctioning and newly leaking kitchen sink. *Amendment 12/3/12*** 2nd visit - discovered small leak in basement piping, return call for warranty service was very prompt and fixed accordingly. 3rd visit - New faucet works well, leak was corrected. It was at this point we were told by the office staff/management that the company stands by their service and that they were willing to give us a credit approximately $75 for damages and inconvenience. After this visit, we did receive the invoice for the service call on the faucet however as of this date 12/3/12 the company has not issued the credit and in fact stated on the invoice that they will do so once we changed our review on Angie's List. When we received the invoice stating that credit would be issued after review was changed, we were absolutely astonished and wholly disappointed in the customer service department as the credit was agreed upon due to damages done -- NOT to procure a better Angie's List score as obviously that would be quite unethical. I called to discuss this with the management department prior to issuing this revised review however they were only interested in speaking to my boyfriend and not me. As of this writing, he has received voicemails from Hertel Hardware but has been unable to take the call due to his schedule. The only reason I amended my review today is because the plumber himself offered his sincere apology and completed the plumbing work that needed to be done. Although initially disappointed as described - the way he handled the situation and during subsequent visits he demonstrated a strong personal work ethic, he is a skilled plumber and has a bright future in the industry.

The crew arrived on time, completed the work as estimated and left the area cleaner than when they arrived.

Mike was very professional and personable and knew what he was doing. He took off the faucet fixture quickly and showed me the part it needed and also explained to me other issues regarding the faucet. I had had another plumbing company come to do this same job and the guy didn't have the right tool to take off the faucet head, and even was trying to take it off from the wrong section, and ended up breaking a piece of the cosmetic part. Needless to say I would never get them again (Roy's Plumbing) and naturally I wasn't charged, but then the job wasn't done either. But Mike from Hertel Plumbing knew exactly what to do and did it expeditiously. Then he took a look at the leaking dishwasher hose and knew from the numerous clamping rings that were already there, it must have been changed out many times already. I am fairly new in the house so I didn't know. But he was able to repair the hose by taking off the leaking piece and replacing new, and clamping it down only once. It worked and no leakage when we ran the dishwasher cycle. So he did exactly what I needed and explained the process along the way and was very informative. I liked him and would recommend him and Hertel Plumbing. The pricing was fair and the work was completed that day and he cleaned up after himself, which I also liked.

Salesman was very knowledgeable and spent a signifcant amount of time going through everything with me answering my questions. The quote was fair and a little less than the other quote I recieved, although one of the main reasons I went with them was that i felt more confident in their abilities after speaking with their sales rep as opposed to their competitor. I was disappointed in the quote itself as it was a little less specific than i was hoping to see and it did not include a request to replace a hose bib I had made during the evaluation. I was told the hose bib price would be time and material which I declined. I thought it would have been a simple addition to the quote, but oh well. The technicians arrived pretty much when they said they would and were very easy to work with. I went through everything with the main person before he started the work. The install went well and for their work was well done. I was a little disappointed that they did not route the lines as I requested, but they did adhere to my requirements to keep them up in the joist cavities so they would not be in the way for any future basement finishing. After living with the heater for a week i had to have them come back to fix a small leak at one of the threaded connections. They were very accomidating and offered to come next day, but it was a very slow leak so i scheduled them for a time that was better for me. When they were there I expressed my concern for how the hot water run was installed as instead of connecting into the existing copper at the nearest point to the heater they ran it over to the old tee where the previous tank was. This resulted in it taking about 45-50 seconds to get hot water to my kitchen sink, due to the water having to double back on itself by ~15' of pipe. I complianed about this and they agreed to re-route the line, which halved the delay to the ktichen making it around 25 seconds. The cold water routing is still a little rediculous as the main runs right over the heater, around the corner, to the old tee, back around the corner, and down into the unit resulting in an additional travel distance of about 30' plus five extra elbows, but we haver very good pressure in the house so the extra drop isn't much. Maybe later I'll buy a tee and elbow and replace this line myself. Anyway i would use them again, i would just be much more specific on how I wanted it done and keep better track of them through the process.

Mike was very efficient and knowledgeable and took the time to answer my questions. He was able to repair the leak under kitchen sink without having to replace the pipe in order to save me some money. He also suggested a way to improve the configuration of the bathtub drain pipe/trap to make it easier in the future to access the area should it clog up again. I will definitely call Hertel Hardware &Plumbing again to handle any plumbing issues.

Service man came, told me what I already knew that the water heater needed to be replaced. Gave me a reasonable quote. Went to get the water heater, coming back in 40 minutes. He replaced the water heater in less than an hour. He gae me very specific instructions relative to potential safety issues. Whole exercise took abot two hours

The guy that did the work was very respectful. When he first came in, he walked through everything with me to give me an idea of what I could expect and what he would need to do. He got to work right away. He was able to complete everything without damaging any tiles! He also installed shut off valves on my water pipes for me. Everything looks perfect and I'm extremely happy with this company. I'm in the process of doing some renovations and I've had some bad experiences with installers and contractors. Its very refreshing to have someone come in, treat my home with respect, and do the job the way they said they would.

They were just ok. Seem to be a little disorganized. Nobody verifies the work being done and quality depends on the plumber you get. Took couple days for the work with different plumbers. One was good with decent quality work. They other day two came out and they were not quality plumbers. Ive had my share of bad plumbing companies, and would'nt put Hertel in a bad class. Just wish they would watch their plumbers a little more. All things being equal I think they do decent work at a decent price.

Amongst other plumbing tasks a drain was "cleared" by replacing the drain pipe. 2 days later it was slow to drain. When we asked to have the plumber return we were advised that it would be another service call charge.I would have had NO problem if another problem was found, however they advised that it was their policy.I don't think it was an issue with the plumber, but with the schedulers/bosses policy.I If you do work, warranty it for at least 7 days, return to inspect it for free if there is an issue, by all means if there is additional work then charge.I got another plumber in, $100 late the issue was resolved, the first repair had not been done fully. These guys came highly recommended, I had used them before, did have to get an labor charge adjusted to more accurately reflect the time actually spent.

Replacing the faucet was something I could have done myself, but knew it would take me a while and I have company visiting next week. The plumber was on time and took care of this in under an hour. I love my new working faucet. Thank you! He also let me know some of the other types of services they do. I definitely recommend them and will call them the next time I need any plumbing service.

I was pleased to find someone right in the city who sold Noritz heaters. HH were knowledgeable about what I was looking for and wrote up an estimate after a visit to see the layout of my basement to be sure things would go smoothly, and things did.

I got a list of people off of Angie's List and Hertel Hardware & Plumbing Company was one of the companies I called and I was very satisfied with them. The person who came out was very nice. He didn't waste anytime and got right to the problem and took care of it within probably 15 minutes. Their price was really reasonable with the coupon that I had. They had a little problem because they were behind schedule, but they called up and asked if I could wait for the next day which was fine with me. They were excellent and I would recommend them in a heartbeat.
