They were fine. I used a coupon that I downloaded. It would have been $130-140 without the coupon. It was a fairly simple thing. They sent a young guy and I don't know if he was an apprentice or what but he had to go back to the shop twice to get something. He did it fine but I would have preferred to have a more experienced person. He got it done and he cleaned up, so it was good. I had never used them before and it was okay. I didn’t compare prices but I would guess that it was probably routine. He wasn’t totally prepared. I would use them again.

They came when they promised, gave us an estimate and returned an hour later to do the job. They had to return the next morning to complete the work and arrived when they told us they would. Very knowledgeable about old house plumbing. On time, professional and friendly. Will use again when our next plumbing issue arrives!

We had low pressure on cold water line in upstairs bathroom. Old galvanized steel pipes aged and rotted through. Also, we have a very old house and the bathroom tiles couldn't be disturbed. Tony gave us an estimate for $900 and we suspected initially that we'd have to open one wall and also ceiling in the room under the bathroom to access the pipes. Guys managed to fix everything by opening only a small area on the wall leaving us with small plaster repair afterward and the office ceiling stayed in tact. This was a great news. They had to work in with very small room to run the new pipes. I had done some copper plumbing in the basement myself but I'd never come with the solution Hertel guys came up with.

Fine, no problem. Did they job quickly, neatly and promptly.

They were prompt, confident, and honest. We are considering using their service in the future.

It went well. Really friendly service guy explained EVERYTHING about my toilet and plumbing.The only thing that we needed to call them back on was that the toilet needed more shims underneath, because it wobbled slightly. This may have to do with the 100+ year old hex tile on the floor - but either way the service guy came back and remedied the problem.

I got their name from our son-in-law. They came here to fix something and then we asked them about this. They came out and gave us a huge estimate of $2200 that we were not ready to work with. We got another estimate from a different service provider and it seemed like we could get the job done for much less. We wanted to get another estimate because someone had given an estimate to us before. Their boss came in and gave us quite a project that we had to do. The project included cutting into the kitchen walls and some other things. We did not want to do that. We changed the hot water setting downstairs of the basement in our water tank and we have been able to get by. They were very professional when they came and talked to us but they were very expensive. They said that they would possibly take some amount off the bill because it was their first visit but we were not sure as to how much that would be. We had a plumber who gave us an estimate of $150 to replace it. We were not sure if there would be few more things in that but right now we are being a conservative and we are waiting before we did anything. There was another service provider that we found on Angie's List who came in and gave us an estimate but they did not call us to tell that they were coming whereas the other plumber that we had, used to call us to say that he was on his way. We knew that they were going to come on that Saturday but they did not call us before coming. Also, they charged $77 for the estimate which we did not like. They were then going to come on Monday to fix it but we backed out.

I called Hertel Hardware and Plumbing when my bathtub faucet was leaking, causing water to drip into the kitchen below whenever the shower was on. The day that I called, they said that a technician would call my fiancee at 1pm to arrange a time that afternoon. They did call at 1pm, but then did not arrange for a specific time. I called a few days later, and they came out an hour later. The technician took the hardware apart, diagnosed the problem, and then explained how we could fix it ourselves, or with the help of my fiancee's father, so save the money on paying him at the $75/hr rate. I found it thoughtful of him that we was trying to save us money, but after we made the repairs ourselves, the faucet still leaks, even though the leak isn't as bad as it was before. He only charged us for the service call and not for his time, but I would rather that he would have given us the option to spend the extra money and just repair it on the spot. He seemed like he knew his craft well, and I do appreciate that he was trying to save us some money.

Overall it was a pretty positive experience with this company. If I need more plumbing, I would probably use them again. We were satisfied with their work.

I liked their service a lot. They were good. I needed the turn off valve put in. They came and did it for me. I wasn't there when they did the work. They were very prompt and the work looks good. They charged a reasonable price. My only complaint was I had to call them a couple of times before they come out since it was a weekend.

This was an emergency service call since water was quickly collecting in my basement and I wanted the problem resolved before any damage was done to my new furnaces. I called them from work, my tenant let them in, and they were finished and most of the water had drained from the basement before I came home from work.

The guys doing the work were competent and polite. The work appears well done. I was quoted a different price than I was billed so if using in the future I will insist on a written quote. I didn't bother to complain however as I don't feel I was billed an amount that was unfair, it was merely $50 more than I was quoted.

They were good and they would inform me if they were going to be late. I did not really over see the work. I think we expected something little bit different but I am not sure if it was because they did not explain well or because our expectations were odd.

The service call was less than what some plumbers charge. I felt they did a good job. They tried to get the part to see if the company that made the toilet would replace the part at no cost to us, but it did not work out that well. We did have to pay but they made an effort to give us good service.

When I called, a very polite woman answered on the first ring. She found me a plumber who could come the very same afternoon, and courteously answered my questions about what forms of payment they accepted. John, the plumber, came on time and did the work in very short order. He was extremely efficient and was friendly and polite as well. I asked him about placing some old fixtures in the bathroom and he told me how to proceed. I will certainly give Hertel Hardware and Plumbing my business again. They're great!

Have relied on Hertel for numerous small plumbing jobs. They are reliable and priced right. Have no issues with this company and will keep using.

These guys are great. The office scheduling the calls is efficient and friendly and they called before the appointment as a courtesy and reminder, which I appreciated. John came out to help with the toilet install. (He had helped us with a gas leak the previous week which a plumber from another company had basically created by not installing our dryer gas line properly.) I had removed the existing toilet so he only had to install the new one and charged less than it normally would have cost for a full removal and install. Upon removal we found the soil pipe's flange was slightly cracked and John advised me of all my choices and approximate costs and risks associated with each. I decided to keep the old flange and run the risk of a leak for the time being. He installed the new toilet quickly and carefully without a scratch to the porcelain. Very knowledgeable and professional guy with a straightforward no BS summary of the problem and a helpful attitude. Will keep going to these guys for all my plumbing problems.

They checked to see if we had a problem with the water supply. The pressure was not that good. We actually thought that we may have to replace the pipe, but they checked and told that the value was closed. They are really knowledgeable. They have been in the business for a while and were very responsive.

I definitely like working with them.
