My experience with them was excellent! They were very responsible, and they protected my property. They did all the cleanup and everything. The salesman who came over was very nice, and explains things to me. There was not a lot of pressure. They were very good, and their price was very reasonable. I am very happy with the work. They provided me with a couple of shingles that I could go and check out. They were very, very nice people. I guess, it is a family-owned business.

Excellent job. Very professional and competent workforce. Left site clean and neat. Made several suggestions to improve gutter placement, only contractor we contacted that did that. Promptly addressed questions and concerns.

They actually came out twice to check the roof. Once outside when I wasn't home, then again to check the inside when I was home. They didn't charge for the second time. They did the work while I was on vacation. I have no more leaks, everything was done to my satisfaction and everything was cleaned up. They were so professional and so nice. They were excellent.

First of all, this will be the 3rd time that I have typed a review on this particular job and due to technicalities, it was not complete. I was so pleased with Black Rock Roofing that I am taking the time to type this review again. I have used and recommended Black Rock Roofing before and had every confidence in them with this job especially since a very fussy neighbor was involved! Black Rock Roofing obtained the necessary permits, took all the precautions to make the neighbor happy, removed 2 layers of existing asphalt and 1 layer of wood shake shingles, installed 1/2" 4 ply exterior plywood, installed winterguard ice and water shields, drip edges, flashing, vents, and gutters. They did a great job of removing and disposing of all debris. The hardworking crew worked late to complete the job. Black Rock is a family business. Joe, Dave, Nick and even their mom all work there. Chris, the crew chief and "public relations" man did a wonderful job! I am very pleased with the new roof on my home - it looks young again! Thank you.

They started and finished the job in the promised time frame. Excellent job and cleanup! I would definitely use them again and recommend them to my friends and neighbors.

I was concerned about this 5 year old porch roof---not a Black Rock Job--, since the ceiling below, in our flat, has experienced some water damage. Nick called me, we set a time for Mike to return, and before I could say Thanks, the repairs were completed! Mike was very patient, and took the time to explain what could be causing the water leaks etc. THe price was fair since the GUTTER estimate COVERED the WORK on THE ROOF TOO!!!!!!!!

They were excellent. They have always been great, very professional, have good follow up services, and they were always on time. We didn't really had any problems with them at all.

It was a very pleasant experience having Black Rock Roofing do the work on our house. They removed all of the old materials, cleaned the property meticulously every day; and were respectable of our neighbor's property. They worked with perfectionism and professionalism. We feel as though we are living in a totally new house. All bad material was removed and replaced to assure that the siding is covering only good materials underneath. We know that we have a great house now, not just a "cover-up".

I'm a thorough shopper so I spent lots of time and got several detailed quotes. Black Rock was by far the the best value. We got a top quality roof and the highest possible warranty at a very reasonable cost. The estimator, Mark, was thorough and friendly. They checked with me regarding scheduling and showed up when they promised. I was astounded that the entire tear-off and replacement with clean-up was finished in one day. Their workers swarmed my house. But all my flowers were protected and everyone was so courteous and respectful. The job customer rep, Chris, was so nice to work with. A few details that we had specified were miscommunicated. I spoke with Chris and everything was changed promptly to meet our (somewhat unusual) requests. I couldn't ask for anything better. I would absolutely recommend them without qualification. Again, I thoroughly investigated over 6 roofers all with A ratings and, despite several quality people, couldn't have been happier with the decision to use Black Rock. If you don't have time to get lots of estimates, just call them.

Everything went as planned and described by the sale person Mark. We had a few phone calls for scheduling that were made prior to the work being done and all levels of staff we very professional. The roof was completed in 1 day and the subcontracted completed the gutters in another day.Clean up was very quickly. The whole job was done in a 3 day span just as planned. Everyone was just great. I would highly recommend Black Rock roofing to anyone.

They were absolutely wonderful and I could not have asked for a better crew to come out and perform the job. They cleaned up very well and removed the old roof as well as repaired any plywood that was necessary for repair. They rerouted the money the way it was supposed to go. They completed the job in two days and did a wonderful job which I was very happy with. I would recommend them to others and I don’t think I would need to use them in the future because I am sure the work that they have done on my roof will make it last for another fifty years.

I recently had two companies over to inspect my roof, knowing that it is probably ready to be replaced. The first company provided an estimate and agreed that the roof needed to be replaced and could perform the work right away....even an incentive if I could commit. Two days later I had the inspector from Black Rock over and made me feel comfortable from the beginning. He was very professional but also took time to discuss Black Rock Roofing, his time and experience, and basic roofing terminology. After our initial 20 minute conversation, before he even began his inspection, I felt very comfortable with the fact that he took a few minutes out to get to know me and establish rapport. When he was finished with the inspection, he again came back in the house to discuss. The first thing that completely shocked me was that his initial assessment was that my roof could and should last another couple years. He even went to the length of scheduling a follow up with me towards the end of summer just to make sure I would be ok prior to winter. They would do the work for me now but recommended that I have enough life in the current roof for a few more years. So with that in mind, I was still curious about the price. Again, I was pleased with our pricing discussion and with everything I was going to receive from Black Rock Roofing - right in line with the other estimate while receiving more work. With the fantastic news that we are NOT replacing our roof this spring, I can say with certainty that my next and only call will be be to Joe and Black Rock Roofing. His honesty and non pressure way have easily made our decision a very easy one.

From the arrival to their departure this company was very professional. I must say in my haste to leave the house and get out of their way I neglected to leave my front door latch so that I could get back in after leaving. They were so kind as to stop working long enough to remove the tarp and debris so that I could reenter safely and let them get back to work. Just watching a complete roof being removed and replaced was a sight to see. The reason that I decided to go with Black Rock roofing was because of a referral and watching the work done on my good friends home in Tonawanda on Dekalb. The gentleman Joe that came to give me the estimate was so nice and patient with my questions I told him that I would use them as soon as we could get our act together. Well as luck would have it a big wind blew and our decision was made for us to replace the roof as the shingles were all now flying in my yard and my neighbors driveway.I thought that I would be like some of the other homes I have seen done with tarp on my roof for days. But no, my Main roof and the roof over my sunroom was done in one day. And the work is beautiful. Several of the neighbors commented on the quality of work and how they worked straight through to get it done. Removed 3 layers of roofing, installed ice and water shield and new lifetime architectural shingles. They were the only company to recommend that we remove the siding on our dormers and install new aluminum flashing. They did a wonderful job, cleaned up everything and finished the complete job (main house and garage) in only 1-1/2 days! They also did an excellent job on installing new siding on the dormers. The workers were professional and anytime I had a question, the foreman would make sure I understood everything. I could not be happier with the results and I would not hesitate to recommend Black Rock Roofing to anyone.

First, when I had called this company to set up an appointment for an estimate, I felt very comfortable. The receiptionist/secretary was very thorough and knowledgable. The following day, I had an an appointment to have an estimate done on my home and garage. I was very impressed with the estimators that came to my home. They were very professional, knowledgable, and patient with me; especially since I do not know much about this kind of work. They told me exactly what had to be done, their ideas on how to fix the problems, and a complete breakdown of what the charges would be and for what. They included both my husband and myself in picking out what type of roof we wanted and the color. They came to my house within 5 days of signing the contract and had all work completed within two days, except for my gutters. It was explained to me that the gutters would not be in for another 5-7 days. They were right on the money with that. Less than a week later, the gutters came in and were put on my house within one day. The people that did the job were also very polite and professional. They answered some questions that I had when they were getting ready to close up shop for the evening. They did a fantastic job with the work that they completed. I was also very pleased with the cleanup crew as well. They did a marvelous job and ensured all the nails and debris were cleaned up. When the job was completed, my husband and I were overwhelmed with what a difference they have made with the appearance of our home and garage. Lastly, they have very competitive pricing in my opinion. For all the work they did to my home, and especially my garage, and the type of materials used, I was very pleased to say the least with what I paid for this work.

The salesman came out three different times to obtain the business. He lowered his price over a competitor. They installed the roofing the soonest date we gave them we could do it. We did have to wait for the gutters for a few weeks which was not the greatest. We had a couple of heavy rains without gutters. But, after everything was installed, it has been fine. We have had no trouble with the roof or the gutters so far.

Everyone was very professional from the estimator to the clean-up crew. After they were done,you wouldn't know anyone was here except for my new roof.I highly recoomend them.

Overall I have no significant complaints about Blackrock. They were very quick to get back to me when I would call them, and the individuals I spoke and met with were very professional. Additionally, they were offering quite seriously the exact same product as multiple other companies, though at almost $1,000.00 less (before the Angie's list discount). After we contracted for the job with them it was about two weeks before the crew finally came and did the work. I understand we contracted in their peak season during fall, so I expected it, but still somethingt o be aware of - they are a busy company. Either way, the job was done in a few hours and it looks great. The only complaint I have is with the gutters. It took another two full weeks after Blackrock's roofing crew did the roof before the subcontracted gutter company showed up to do the gutter work. The gutters look and function incredibly well, but it is the one area of criticism I have about Blackrock. Once the roof was done and Blackrock had the final check for the roof, it didn't seem to matter all that much when the gutters went up. I was told it could take up to 5-7 days for the gutters to get done but it usually took 1 or 2. Key notes to that though: they mean business days. IN my case, it was two weeks, on the dot, but 7 business days. All in all though they did great work in a pretty quick fashion. The only other slight criticism I had was that when their roofing crew finished there were two packs of shingles left over. The crew left the pallett and packs of shingles on it, in my front yeard rather than next to the garage in my driveway. Because I was around it wasn;t too big of a deal, but if I had been away my wife would not have been able to lift two 90 pounds packs of shingles to move them off of the lawn. Despite the minor things above though, I wouldn't hesittate to hire Blackrock again.

Everything went great. Any time I pointed out small concerns they were addressed IMMEDIATELY. Only points I would like to make which would have made it Perfect is: Cleanup could have been a bit more detailed after the carpentry work. But it is minor. In addition. There was a bunch of copper wrapped around the outer edge under the roofing left from when the former gutters were cut off. I think that standard procedure on these old houses with copper should be to collect and protect it for the owner as it is like Gold in value to homeowner. However they did dig in the garbage to collect most of it for me. Imalsomhad to drive back to work 10 miles each way to get keys as I enter the house in the back through a keypad office and when I got home the back door was covered with plywood and piles of removed roof debris piled their. This made sense. But it would have nice nice to know about these little things as it went along. But regardless of those few minor things. I felt comfortable and confident in their concern for doing a good job and caring for t he little things. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM,,,,, Thanks to Joe, Mike and ALL THE GUYS FOR A BEAUTIFUL JOB

Difficult decision to make. Chose another company but feel this group would have been fine.

We contacted 5 roofing contractors for estimates based on Angie's List reviews. Black Rock was not the cheapest yet not the most expensive. I rate Black Rock A+. Mark presented his estimate very thoroughly, explaining all details and answering all of our questions. The job was scheduled for 10/1. The crew showed up exactly on time and proceeded to get to work. I was impressed by their ability and workmanship. A customer service rep arrived a few hours later to check on the progress. The cleanup crew showed up and did an excellent job. I have found only 3-4 nails. An added plus was when a rep showed up after the crew had left to insure that everything was installed correct and pipes/flashings were intact. The gutters were scheduled for 7-10 days and were done one day when we got home. The price was exactly as quoted. The workmanship and customer service is excellent. I will recommend Black Rock to anyone.

On behalf of my mother in New York, (I live in Maryland) I contacted Black Rock for an estimate. I told the receptionist my situation and she scheduled me to meet with estimator at my convenience. I met with Joe and he gave me an estimate. I did get 2 other esitmates but I felt Black Rock Roofing was the right company for the job. They did a excellent job. Black Rock stayed in communication with me and made sure I was satisfied with everything. I would definitely request their services again and recommend them to others in the Buffalo area.

I had called a number of roofing and siding contractors to quote me on doing the siding, roofing,construction of a small roof over my front entrance, and an option to build dormers into the roof. Of the dozen or so top rated companies I found on Angies List, only a handful came out to meet with me personally to review the scope of work. Even fewer were willing to take on a larger scale project which included building s small entrance roof, and possibly adding dormers. At the end of my bid comparison, Black Rock's pricing was the most competitive of the few companies I felt comfortable with that could do the work I was looking for. They answered all my questions, and addressed my concerns prior to signing of a contract. I was notified about 1-2 weeks in advance of when the roofing crew would be starting. The materials were dropped off early in the morning, and the crew arrived shortly after. They began setting up right away, protecting both my house as well as my neighbors prior to any work being done. The crew worked hard, and efficiently completing the removal and re-roofing of one side of the house per day. The complete roof, along with the kick outs on the front and rear of the home was completed in two (long) days. The crew worked hard through hot weather, and did a great job cleaning up afterwards. I was informed that the in use chimney was in worse shape than expected, and that it would need to be rebuilt by a mason. It could not simply be re-pointed. It was discouraging to hear additional costs and time would need to be spent on this unforseen issue, but I do appreciate them letting me know rather than leave it as is, or cover it up. I would have never known since I cannot see it from the street. The crew was kind enough to leave picks by the chimney to allow the mason to use. They returned weeks later to finish the flashing of the chimney once the masonry work was done. They even provided me feed back on the masonry work, and made additional suggestions to make chimney work better. My only complaint was that shorter nails were supposed to be used over the exposed eaves, so that they did not protrude through the bottom which is visible on my home. This was forgotten on the first side that was completed. Black rock returned to clip the nails that did make their way through, so the problem was corrected. Black Rock has one siding crew, who was backed up so the siding work was done a number of weeks after the roof. I was given about 1 weeks notice prior to their expected start date. This date was pushed back a couple times, but work finally did begin about a week later. As with the roof, materials were delivered early in the morning, and the crew arrived shortly after. They begun the first day by building the roof over the front entrance door. The two workers discussed with me my expectations, and advised me of their plan before starting any of the work. I checked up on the progress a handful of times throughout the day, and was extremely satisfied with the quality of work as well the attention to detail. They did a great job tying the new roof into the old house. The following 2 days was spent installing the new cedar shingles on the front of the house. Again the team proved to me they were experienced professionals as they tackled a couple different challenges that came up during the work. First the house had settled significantly making many of the original line off level. Second, they tied in the new shingles to line up with the old which were obviously installed by a much less experienced person(s) as the spacing between each coarse was different. The entire process was difficult and time consuming, but it paid off in a great looking final product. Overall I was happy with my decision to go with Black Rock for this extensive project. They worked with me prior to signing a contract, during the work itself, and made sure I was satisfied after it was all done.
