Black Rock Roofing

After getting about 11 estimates 2 came in lower than black rock (1 not a good company I found out) the other was a much smaller company and it would take 3 to 4 days for a tear off and roof replacement. Most of the other companies that came out for an estimate were pretty nice. A couple not so great. Some with prices much higher some with pricing closer to what I paid.Joe R. came to my home and was a really nice person, yo could tell right off. He was organized, neat, knowledgable and friendly. He came back again when I decided I wanted to use them. He listened to all my concerns and took care of them. He even showed up on the morning of the roof install to make sure crew knew what was to be done extra, etc. The crew was fine they worked fast, tore off my roof and then got it ready for new roof and had the entire new roof on in all of 6 or 7 hours. Then a cleaning crew came and cleaned up the mess well. Of course I washed my patio and walkways and driveway, etc. but they did a really good job cleaning. I think I only found 2 nails on my entire property after they left, WOW! Neighbors were impressed of how quick they were.I watched a lot of the time and from what I saw no short cuts were taken at any time. They left for lunch for under a half hour and were right back to work. They use a good name roofing system that costs a little more. Make sure you check this out, as the color shingle I had originally wanted,was a cheaper shingle. If I am going through all this work, money, etc. I want the best or top product on the market, which I feel they use. The main foreman Chris P came early in the morning and then came back during day to make sure everything was going well. He was a really nice man and good at his job.When expecting a crew to show up you must take into consideration, these guys are not going to show up in shirt and ties, LOL, they are hard manual laborers who are there to perform a dirty job! Its hard work and the clean up crew has a really hard job also.All in all I hope I don't see them for many years, just for the simple fact I am hoping to get many perfect years out of this roof!I would totally refer them to family and friends and am really happy I selected them (angies list helped with that also)

I would rate Black Rock as a A+ company, we signed the contact on a tuesday and they called on wednesday to see id they could perform the work on thursday( now thats responsive). The estimator was very professional and all their employees were very friendly and polite.

Black Rock sales rep (Joe R) arrived on time, was very thorough with inspecting existing roof, explaining options but not hard selling, and describing what total job would entail. A written quote with every detail to be done was provided to me after our hour long meeting. The price was a bit more ($500-700) than 3 other quotes (Rott, A-Best, Gugino), but Black Rock was committing to doing more. A few days later I signed a contract, and was scheduled within the week. The work crews were prompt and respectful, working hard for 2 days. The next day, with one phone call to Customer Serv. Rep (Chris), finishing touches to seal house shingle & new roof shingle abutment gaps, as well as touch-up painting, were scheduled and accomplished within another day by Mike. Be advised gutter/downspout work is subcontracted. It did take 5 days (spanning a weekend) to get that part completed.

I needed a complete roof tear off and replacement on my garage and called this company for an estimate. They responded within one day of my initial call. Good start! The estimator, Mark, was very personable and professional. His estimate was competitive with other companies. The company performed the work within one week and did a very good job. The tear off produced a sizable mess and the workers did an excellent job of cleaning up. It was like the roofers were never there. Black Rock Roofing is an excellent company and Angie's List is an invaluable resource.

We were very pleased with the prompt service, professional demeaner, and quality work and product provided by Black Rock Roofing. After losing a major portion of our shingles during a major wind storm, our roof was exposed down to the plywood. Fearing addtional rain and snow, we called a number of roofers to tarp the roof as was suggested by our insurance company. Black Rock Roofing was the only company that returned our call in a timely manner. We had replaced our roof only six years prior, and had numerious problems with skylight leaks and shingles blowing off. Our insurance company, as well as Black Rock Roofing, informed us that the previous roofer installed a Canadien shingle with a minimum of nails securing each shingle. Since our new roof and skylights have been install, we have no further problems. In fact, Black Rock Roofing installed superior skylights (Velux) charging us only their cost for the product. They also secured each shingle with six nails as opposed to the minimum amount required. Our gutters were also replaced which we are also very happy with. Black Rock Roofing worked with our insurance company to expedite the claim. We were very pleased with their promptness before, during, and after the installation. Their work is quick, effiecient, and of high quality. They cleaned up their tearoff as well as cleaning up all of the shingles that had been previously blown off. After the completion of their work, our home and yard looked great! I think their price is fair because there product and service is excellent! I would recommend their service to anyone.

Great! Guys were actually ahead of schedule and showed up early. This is the only company I will allow on my roof as they also installed the roof. Last fall I had a fly-by-night guy from the newspaper clean them. Never again! From here on out it's only Black Rock Roofing on my roof!

We began our search for a new roof by obtaining bids for a new roof with vinyl soffits and new gutters. I obtained quotes from 5 companies: Black Rock Roofing, Stockmohr, Wm C Rott & Sons, Home Depot and the neighborhood fly-by-night roofer who happened to be across the street roofing a house. Black Rock was right in the middle with price, Rott wanted $ 21,000, the fly-by-night roofer wanted $ 6000. With regard to product, all were bidding similar products: we chose the Certainteed 25 year energy efficient shingle. The scope of work was identical for all bids obtained. With regard to process, Black Rock was superior in every aspect. Each shingle was attached with a minimum of 6 nails; the ice barrier was wrapped around the facia and properly attached. No other company offered the "wrap around" all simply installed to the edge of the roof. A shield was then installed that fit over the edge of the gutter, which would enable run-off to flow into the gutter and not behind. Again, no other company provided this extra layer of protection. Additional vents were installed into the soffits enabling increased air circulation through the cathedral ceiling and attic areas. With regard to the warranty, the product is guaranteed 25 years by Certainteed AND the workmanship is guaranteed for 25 years by Certainteed. No other company offered this. They offered a workmanship by their company, but the workmanship would not have been guaranteed by the manufacturer. Black Rock provides additional training to their employees to receive this workmanship certification.. As for the installation process...The job was completed on time and within a few weeks of signing the contract. Employees were professional and curteous. Questions were answered, concerns were responded to and the foreman went above and beyond the scope of work when he felt additional duties were required. For example, we did not anticipate needing a new chimney screen, he took the time to find the appropriate product and installed in a timely manner. The result being no birds down into my fireplace or furnace, and the screens match and look good. He also spray painted my metal chimney cover. The clean up was magnificent. I found maybe 6 nails over the course of the next year. And only a few bits of shingle or other debris. Roofing is probably one of the most difficult jobs out there! After seeing these guys work, they are worth every penny. Additionally, I will only allow Black Rock to clean my gutters. After seeing these guys and working with the company, I will only allow them on my roof. I simply do not trust anyone else.

I was very pleased with the work. They were very efficient and did a great job cleaning up afterwards.

The workmanship was excellent and we are thrilled with the results. All the sub-contractors that were used were courteous, professional and did very high quality work. Joe Ruminski and David Bly are great to work with. There were delays with the project that were not communicated as timely as we would have liked, but ultimately an excellent job was completed and we are totally satisfied with the results. We have had some issues with communication but that has all been resolved. Joe and Dave had proven to be trustworthy professionals with a desire to provide excellent work and quality customer service. Joe was just here today and we signed a contract to have storm doors installed at the remaining entrances of our house. We would and will definitely use Black Rock Roofing again.

I contacted Black Rock for an estimate and recieved a prompt reply. I went with them over other possible candidates and am glad I did. They did a professional job from start to finish and finished on time. They even went beyond what was contracted for at no extra charge.I can't say enough how pleased I was. I would strongly recommend them, and have, to friends and family.

I was finding roofing shingles on and around my property. After realizing they were from my roof I knew something had to be done as soon as possible (it was winter in Buffalo). I decided, after checking with the BBB, that I would call Black Rock Roofing to give me an estimate on what needed to be done. The estimator came on time. Though there was snow on the roof he climbed up there to make an evaluation. Joe the estimator, was very through. Never having to think about roof(s) before I was very nervous about was was entailed. Joe answered every question I had and followed through with pictures of what he was explaining to me. He left me with a packet of information to help in my decision making process. The job was begun within three (3) weeks, as promised. The roof was torn off and replaced, new gutters and a skylight were also installed. The job was completed in one (1) day while I was at work. I came home to a new roof, everything was cleaned up, and the gutters were installed a few days later, as promised. Overall it was an excellent experience. I would recommend them to anyone looking to have quality work done at a fair price.

Received a quick response after contacting Black Rock. We were able to have the estimate performed and scheduled work to be completed aout 3 weeks later. Job finished in just under a day, despite several unforeseen issues that arose while replacing the roofing. Despite these issues, the overall price was kept within the initial quotation costs. I would absolutely recommend BLack Roof to anyone looking for roof and/or gutter repairs.

Estimate went well, everything was explained well and the job was priced well. On the day the work was done they showed up at 7:20 AM, 40 minutes early. When I didn't answer the door right away they started the job. I thought 7:20 was a bit early to show up and start entering my yard and climbing on the roof before even speaking to me, but at least they were anxious to get started. The crew was friendly and explained what they would be doing and how long it would take. I left for a while, stopped by once to see how things were going and they had made good progress. They told me it would be about a couple hours more, so I came back later and they were starting to clean up. They hauled away all debris, cleaned up, checked for nails that may have fell on the lawn, and spoke to me one last time before they left. They said someone would return to pick up the few left over bundles of shingles. After the left, they only way you could tell they were even there was a brand new roof!Someone showed up on Monday around 9:00 AM to pick up the extra bundles of shingles, but they never let me know they were there. I saw their truck in my driveway, heard them put a ladder on my roof, and heard them walking on the roof for some purpose. They never let me know they were there, never rang the bell or knocked on the door. They did leave me some extra shingles which was nice. Overall they did a great job, but if I had a complaint it would be that you shouldn't show up at someones house and climb up on the roof without letting them know. A follow up call would have been a nice touch also, once the crew left I never heard from anyone at the company again. The roof looks great and I would use this company again and recommend them.

We met Joe at the Buffalo home show, scheduled an appointment for him to come to give an estimate. We also had 4 other estimates and Black Rock Roofing was right in the middle. Joe then came out when we called to sign the contract, brought samples of shingles, he also told me that there was a coupon on Angies list, gave us a manufacturers rebate, also at no extra charge we did a 50 yr warranty. The workers were very professional, came in started work on Wednesday morning and by the evening had most of the house done, came back the next day, finished the roof and back on Friday to finish the down spouts. We couldn't be any happier with our experience with Black Rock Roofing, they even reattached our Direct tv satellite dish, Direct tv said they did a great job they were very impressed with how BRR did the work around the dish. We would definitely recommend BRR to everyone. Thanks Joe :)

They have done several roofs for me. They are prompt. They are thorough. They are very quick. They don't mess around. They know their business. If one goes cheaper, they get cheaper.

BLACK ROCK ROOFING DID A GREAT JOB ON MY ROOF. WORKERS WERE ON TIME EACH MORNING, NO S******* AROUND GOT RIGHT TO WORK. DID A GREAT JOB AND A GREAT CLEAN UP. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE WORK THEY PERFORMED. I WOULD USE THEM AGAIN.

My overall experience with him so far has been good. He is very thorough and great to work with. His prices are reasonable and I will be having them come back to do my roof in the spring.

When they did the tear down they discovered they had to put up plywood so we spent more than we planned to. They came back several times to fix problems and damage that occurred as part of the job. The contractor put gutters up and down spouts. There has been a consistent leak since we bought the house in 1984 and no one else was able to figure out where it was coming from. They finally figured out where it was coming from, it's not fixed yet because the winter came but we know how to fix it. They are excellent. They are higher than others but you get what you pay for. They have a guarantee that if anything happens for 15 years they come up and fix it, that's hard to beat. They are very responsive. Several of my neighbors used them, too. They were very careful in the clean up, I was very impressed. When you do a teardown you have so much garbage and nails. I have a pretty elaborate garden so in terms of the clean up they were impressive.

CREW SHOWED UP ON TIME, WAS PROFESSIONAL IN THE WAY THEY CONDUCTED WORK AS PER DESCRIBED. ONLY FAULTS ON PERSONEL WOULD BE THE FACT THAT AN INDIVIDUAL TOOK IT UPON HIMSELF TO TAKE ALL MATERIALS THAT WERE "VALUABLE FOR SCRAP" AND DIDNT EVEN ASK PERMISSION TO DO SO. I DIDNT PERSUE THE MATTER IN FEAR THAT THE REST OF CREW WOULD THEN RETALIATE IN SLOWING DOWN ON COMPLETION OF JOB OR BEGIN TO NOT PERFORM TO THEIR ABILITY. SUBCONTRACTED PARTS OF JOB WERE AVERAGE, TIME -WISE AND CALCULATION OF NEEDED MATERIALS.

Black Rock was the low bidder of three bids we had on the job. The sales people were very thorough and explained the work to be done and the available options with no pressure to purchase optional services. The bid was received promptly. The work was expected to begin in about four weeks, but rotten weather delayed the start until about week 6 (not Black Rock's fault). The work was done very professionally and clean up was prompt, although we still find nails and bits of flashing in the bushes. Because it was the peak of their busy season we had a rather small crew and the job took about 4 days, not including the gutters. We opted for new gutters, and there was a delay of 10 days or so until the gutter guy made it to the job. The gutters were installed by a sub-contractor to Black Rock. We had a couple of very minor concerns after the job was completed and they were attended to promptly. Our only complaint concerns damage to the plantings and gardens around the house. To be fair, we were warned that some damage would be inevitable, and they did attempt to protect most everything, but we still lost quite a few plants. Black Rock makes a great effort to build and maintain good customer relations, and it shows in their reputation. I recommend them.

I spent about $25,000. The information given to the salesperson, as far as specifics were concerned, was not translated over to the working crew. I had some issues with the cleanup, but they took care of it right away. They were very responsive about any negative issues. I did not have any problems with them. They took care of things for me. I will use them in the future.

Everything went really well. We always hang out whenever we have a job like this done so that we can catch anything and see if they are deviating from the plan from what we want. Sometimes the officer will not communicate exactly what the workers are to do. We wanted ice shield all the way up on one section of the roof and they almost just used felt paper for the last two rows but we straightened them out. It went well. It was very good watching. We saw the job being done and they did a really excellent job. I would recommend them. They were a bit more expensive but I think they did a much better job than what other people would have done.

I have been very happy with them. They did some work for my uncle as well. I would definitely recommend them. Their price and quality of work stood out to me. I would give them a 9/10 for the work at my uncles and a 10/10 for the work on my roof.

I looked them up on Angie’s List. The experience was not good. The scupper boxes which are things that are attached to Yankee gutters, leaked. I’d had asked them to seal the gutter seams, but a couple of weeks ago I went up there and sealed it myself because they never sealed them. He first said that I didn’t need the box vents but if I wanted it, he could do maybe 2. Later on I found out that in reality, I needed about 7 or 8 box vents. He thought he’d make it worth my while and kind of got paid for something that he didn’t have to do much. So far, the roof looks pretty good, but I haven’t gone through a winter yet. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. They were professional.
