Two downspout were also installed. One did not have any way for water to drain underground. The water goes next to the house. A piece of the screening blew off this winter. The company called us when we were out of town about replacing it, but we didn't answer it when they called. I called back and they never contacted me. The company would not repair their work. They have never been willing to service what they installed.
Description of Work: In 2015 they installed new gutters with screens that never worked correctly. They would not come out to fix them. We have had people from other companies come out to do estimates for repairs. Some of the problems were water overflowing the gutters going right down to the ground next to house. Leakage at seams. Bare wood was not covered. Drip edge incorrectly installed so water didn't go into gutters or no drip edge was installed. The slope of the gutter is wrong. It looks like repairs would be so extensive that it would be about the same cost to install regular gutters, but without the cover. I would never use this company again.

Approx. 2weeks after completion, the roof leaked, and damaged the ceiling below. Called to assess the damage and repair. It took about 3 weeks before I received a response. At time of visit and inquiry about both the plan to repair porch and what was going to be proposed for the subsquient ceiling damage. Steve (American Ex rep/owner) felt no oblagation nor made any attempts to address the issue. Finally after pushing the point, and showing major displeasure, he offered a $100. Being that I at that point wanted to be done with him, and only wanting the services I paid for I settled (which the repair set me back an additonal $300). Three months later the surface leaked again, and to date after too many attempts of calling, where as he will not reply or return any calls. I have left messages and ensured that he would get in touch and has not. In addition all of the services that I paid for they have not honored up to (later install of Silverseal lining) the contract, even-though being legally binding. After being obviously too patient, and dealing with constant leakage when it rains and having a clear damage signs of interior ceiling. Legal action seems to be the only answer... I could go on relative to the lack of professionism encountered over the last 2.5 years in trying to get their attention, and stand behind 20 material & 5 year labor warranty, however at this point I'm sure you get the vibe... After fixing my roof or returning a major portion of what I paid, they should be banned from defaming the name American...

It isn't a pretty picture. I will have to conform to the structure of this questionnaire and submit a report without the work even being started. The contract date was MARCH 22, 2011. I am a patient person, but I've waited over 3 months for what was supposed to be an emergency job to "repair" approximately 45 square feet of asphalt shingles. At the time Steve and I first discussed the contract, I explained that I needed the work done within 2 weeks because of the damage already occurring from the rain. I figured that 2 weeks was pretty generous on my part. The quoted price was $740. I'll leave it up to the reader to consider the appropriateness of the job cost for just overlaying a few shingles. I even told Steve that he could use "any old color" shingles he could get his hands on. I spoke to Steven only twice after March 22 and he said that the weather had "backed jobs up". As any Buffalonian knows we do get our share of beautiful days even in March, April, May, and especially June. Steve responded to me on June 7, 2011 after I left a message on his answering machine. He said that he would "get to it" but he could not provide a date. Hummmm, that's not lawful either. As I had not heard from him, I eventually sent him an email on June 16 asking for a total refund of my deposit, $365 and requesting that no work be commenced. It is now three weeks later and I have not heard from him nor received the deposit. I understand law provides that a customer's deposit MUST go to escrow whenever a down payment is made on a job.Hummmm. I first trusted Steve(a mistake) when he arrived at my home with a brand new fancy uniform and a rather expensive "personal" vehicle. His work vehicle was tied up in the shop he said. I first chose American Exteriors of WNY because the company was "recommended" and he says, a member of BBB. I wish that I could submit a proper report for the reader, but the owner, Steve McCarthy has not yet begun the roof repair job. Steve was recommended by one of those OTHER referral services that supposedly had some knowledge of the contractor it's proposing.
Description of Work: Absolutely no service was performed despite a few phone calls, an email, and some voicemails. The job should have been completed by April 4, 2011. It is now July 3, 2011, 3 months past due. The statements here are my opinions. I make no statements other than the truth as it refers to my dealings with American Exteriors of WNY. It is very unfortunate that the contracted service was not performed, and it is a serious indiscretion not returning my deposit punctually following my June 16th request.

Steve and crew did an outstanding job for me. They were very profesional in not only there installing of the roof but also had superb clean up. They did the job in the winter and even after the snow melt I didn't find leftover material. Great job done!
Description of Work: They replaced the shingle and some sheating on a garage roof at my home!
