AVOID AT ALL COST!! Bottom line: - Management is extremely unprofessional, unresponsive and rude. - Cost goes up from quote magically. - Movers are careless and actively hide any damage they cause to your furniture, to avoid receiving less tip. - Claims department makes you feel you are being scammed. - Below is a detailed description of our experience, to persuade everyone NOT to go with this company. The city is full of good companies, just ask around and do a better homework than we did. We unfortunately hired this company without looking at the poor reviews available online. As also indicated by other reviewer, they were extremely active when it was time to get hired. However, as soon as the issues began, they vanished off the face of the earth. No response to emails or calls. After a detailed assessment of the size of my apartment, and the furniture and other things in it, I received a quote from an individual named Sam. I specifically asked him to confirm if the quote included each and every cost we would incur, with no possibility of it going up. Sam confirmed without hesitation. On the day of the move, three movers showed up. The moment they walked in, they began throwing around reasons why this move would go up in cost, etc… The movers were extremely careless, they threw things like they were rocks. At some point I decided to tell them to stay away of certain things, which I preferred moving myself. In the new apartment, we noticed damage on one of the closets. We asked the movers and they responded that it was due to the poor quality of the furniture (yes, seriously). Note that we had already moved the same furniture to three different apartments in the past, with zero issues (different company, obviously). As the move continued, my wife noticed that one of the closets was not being delivered. After the damage to the other closet mentioned above, she became concerned that the delay could be because they had also damaged this one (this one had mirror doors, so it was more delicate). So, she asked specifically whether the delay was because they had also damaged the closet. The movers responded “NO, everything is fine”. Once EVERYTHING else had been delivered, and after (again) confirming everything was fine, the movers demanded payment, and collected their tip. Immediately after, the missing closet appears and the mirror was broken (surprise surprise?). The wrongdoing was so evident, that the movers signed a document stating “Closets were damaged! The foreman and the XPress Moving Vanlines Claim Department will take the claims!”. I called Sam, but he was obviously not available, so I got to talk to Anthony (lucky me). I reported the situation, and asked to be reimbursed on the tip. I obviously did not want to give a generous prize to these shady / bad faith individuals. Instead of apologizing, Anthony took an extremely rude and aggressive tone, said that my request was ridiculous, and refused to return the tip or offer any solution. The following day, some unidentified representative for the company (email was simply signed as “Manager”) offered apologies for the inconveniences, and referred us to their claim manager, Robert. For our peace of mind, my wife and I decided to simply follow the claim process and avoid unnecessary interactions with management. That’s when we got frozen in time… Robert asked for certain paperwork, which we returned promptly. We followed up with weekly emails asking for status. Each delayed response from Robert (approximately one week after our follow ups), promised prompt review of the documents, and a solution. After two months with no progress, we again emailed Robert. After another week, he provided some made up excuse, and said he needed the paperwork to move forward (same paperwork we had provided 2 months ago). Today, I decided to call Sam again. No response. Instead, I got a call from Anthony (the rude and aggressive guy who refused to reimburse the wrongly-obtained tip). In a condescending tone, he indicated that companies have departments, and that neither him nor Sam (the guy I contracted with initially), would intervene. After being interrupted multiple times, I attempted to convey that I had asked for their intervention, as managers and contracting parties, not because we did not want to follow policies and procedures, but because Robert was completely unprofessional and negligent, and after the terrible experience we had with the move, we were now in this terrible position in which they had put us in. He continued his aggressiveness, and basically told me that I did not understand how companies work, and that I would get nowhere. I may not understand how THIS so-called company works, but I certainly understand honoring commitments, good faith in dealing, treating customers with respect, and taking care of them if any issues arise. Xpress Moving Vanlines will do none of those things, and you will regret hiring them.

I hired this company to move me from NY to California. Spoke with Anthony as i can see many others have and have nothing nice to say about him or my move. He gave me a price of 1900$. The movers came to pick up my stuff they barely spoke English so the language barrier was awful. They ended up changing my moving price to 2800$ i had no choice but use them because i Had to return my keys the next day. This was a total scam clearly this is how they get people they know they have to move so they get stuck with no choice but to settle for that price. I always felt very taken advantage of by my the main man who was handling everything i feel like because i was a female he got over on me. A week later passes i arrive to California i get a call about my things arriving. It was during the protests and riots. Me and my boyfriend had to guide the driver how to get to my block finally they get to my building. As soon as i am speaking to the driver i realize he smells of alcohol heavily. Clearly they’ve been drinking and driving. They start to unload my things to bring them upstairs. As they’re unloading my dresser they drop it on the ground off the truck. I was furious and was eager to see the damage. What happened next wasn’t what i expected. Besides the fact that i already knew my dresser was already ruined i started to unwrap my things as they were bringing them up. Mind you i also helped them bring most of the things up because they were super slow. Anyways i start to un pack the furniture and begin to notice all the damage caused to all my belongings. My dresser was obviously ruined scuffs, scratches, dents and hole all over. My white bar table completely ruined. My coffee table has a feel gashes in it. My garbage can for my kitchen was complexity dented in. And on top of everything the scratched my walls bringing in the furniture. I addressed all the damage and the blamed it on the people who put my things on the truck in NY since they were just the transporters. The next day i call Anthony to address all the damages. He basically told me it wasn’t his problem and that he’d put me in contact with the claims department they would help refund me for the damage. Long story short i been in contact with Robert from claims who made me do all this paper work. It took him 3 weeks to get back to me with an offer. He offered me $192 for over $2000 worth of damage. I took this as an insult. Now he is ignoring me. I also had my attorney contact him and he’s also been ignoring her and she sees that he’s read her messages to him, This company is a total scam and i plan to sue them to get my money bask for the damage. At this point it’s not even about the money it’s about how disrespectful they are and how they’ve been dodging me for 2 months.

I was out of the country when my previous mover cancelled. I contacted XPress Vanlines to see if they would be able to do this and explained I only had email access. I sent Fred the information, in writing, several times and they continually got the information for the move incorrect (they were going to send my things to CA instead of NJ, they kept writing different towns than what I had given them in writing, they kept asking for the same information over and over again, and then said it was a surprise when I reminded them there was a 3rd stop even though it was clearly in the initial email). I am glad I was not able to speak to them on the phone because I can't imagine how much worse it would have been without the paper trail. I am glad I avoided using this company since everything they had done leads me to believe the move would not have gone smoothly and now that i have seen other reviews regarding pressure tactics with asking for more money and the unreliability I definitely feel better about my decision not to go with them. Moving is stressful enough without dealing with movers who can't be bothered with the details.

I submitted a quote request online and got a binding estimate of $2500. When they arrived they told me there was no way that they could move all of my stuff for $2500, they loaded up half my house, charged me $4300 (gave me a discount to make the total $3500) and left with my stuff. Meanwhile, I still had half my stuff in my house that they wouldn't take without charging me at least $8000 - absolutely ridiculous. I would not recommend them, nor use them again.

Frank and his associate were very flexible in the numerous times we had changed the dates (from September to November). After the Hurricane Sandy and Nor'easter had passed, we finally got to move from Brooklyn to Staten Island. On the day of the move, the mover were prompt at 8 AM at the storage warehouse. We had a slight problem when it came to the pricing (in reference to additional boxes and shipping tape) which we were able to hammer out. Once we got the 50 inch TV out of the warehouse, we headed to our old Brooklyn apartment. Since my husband and I did mostly all of the packing, it took the movers about 30-45 minutes to take out all of the furniture and boxes from out of an one bedroom apartment. The movers went so far as to wrap up our glass dining table and entertainment table very tight so it would not break ( it didn't). While still at our old Brooklyn apartment, our cat, Stormy decided to disappear on us due to the sounds of the shipping tape (he was hiding inside the recliner). The movers along with their foreman actually stopped on what they were doing to help us find our cat. Once we got to Staten Island, it took about the same amount of time (30 -45 minutes) and they place the boxes where we wanted them to be. It was very stressful at times, but the movers along with their foreman were very helpful and professional in what they were doing. If given the opportunity I would use them again.
Description of Work: We had two points of pick-up, first was at a storage warehouse in Brooklyn where we need a 50 inch TV taken out. Second spot was our old Brooklyn apartment where all our possessions were packed and ready for moving. We informed Frank of Xpress that we would provide our own shipping tapes and boxes for the move. We wanted to start at 8 AM in which we would require the man power and a truck for the move. However we did require the movers to wrap up a one two-piece glass dining table along with a entertainment table that are heavy.

I was had, took and bamboozled. This was the only company that I called that could give me a firm pick up dates - all others gave me a 2 day window. Xpress also gave me the lowest quote (based on square feet, not pounds) - about $400 less than most others. I was assumed I would likely pay more than they quote and planned to spend $400 above the quote. On moving day, the movers arrived early and the pushy foreman immediately informed me that a tip of 20% of the total bill would be expected upon completion of loading. Once the contents of my small studio apartment was loaded in the truck, the foreman informed me that I owed $800 more than the estimate and to add to the shock I would be charged a 6% service fee for using a credit card. At this point, I was stuck. I was getting on a plane to Chicago the next day. I used a credit card to pay and I tipped the crew 15% of the original estimate. The foreman had the nerve to tell me the tip was supposed to be based on the actual bill and he offered to wait to give me time to go to the ATM. Needless to say, he didn't have to wait.On the drop-off side in Chicago, my things arrived within 3 days. I different, but equally pushy foreman arrived and unloaded my things with a lot of unnecessary commentary. The crew moved quickly - almost too quickly because they were rushing to complete another move after mine. I was asked to review my inventory list quickly and sign without getting a chance to inspect the truck to make sure all of my items were unloaded. Everything arrived in tact and in a very reasonable amount of time, but between their deceptive rates, hidden fees and rude service, I could never use this company again.
Description of Work: I used this company to move from Brooklyn, NY to Chicago from a small studio apartment - very little furniture and mostly boxes that I packed myself. Xpress picked up my stuff, loaded into a small truck, transferred to a 18 wheeler headed for Illinois and delivered and unloaded my stuff at my new apartment in Chicago.

We were moving to Boston, and the scheduled time of the move they gave was between 8-9 am. The three who showed up, Paul (the foreman), Johnny and Mathew, were great. They started loading our stuff at 9am, took exactly two hours. They were very fast, the drive from NY to Boston was supposed to take them around 4.5 hrs, however these guys got to our Boston residence before we did in around 4 hrs. We arrived about 10min later (we took our time, thinking we'll be getting there faster in any case!). The unload and reassembly was done well. They were also very accommodating when we asked them to shift the furniture around the room a few times; and took care to adhere to all our requests regarding the furniture. All our stuff was in great shape, no damage whatsoever. The whole move was very professionally handled. The original estimate we were given was for 6.5 hrs (US$1045/-), which I knew was obviously less, so I had already estimated the move would take another 2 hrs (@US$95/hr). This was still quite reasonable, and after pricing in the extra wrapping we asked for the mattresses and tolls, came out US$1285/-. I would definitely recommend these guys for any move. Their phone support/sales was also very responsive, and were willing to answer all my questions happily. Also, I didn't find them on BBB, so I was a bit skeptical at first, but after my experience, I have no doubt.
Description of Work: We were moving to Boston, and the scheduled time of the move they gave was between 8-9 am. The move was scheduled for 1 day, by the end of the day we would be setup in Boston. All the items were packed and labelled, so they just had to disassemble furniture/load in NY, unload/reassemble furniture in Boston.
