+ -1 moreI made an appointment with Vila Window Repair for a free estimate and they came on the day I had requested (several days after my call) within the 2 hour time slot they had given me. It was the owner himself who came. He inspected the problem, told me exactly what needs to be done, and he gave me an immediate estimate/quote. I agreed to the costs, and Vila Window Repair was able to fix my terrace door on the same day! Two technicians worked for about 1.5 hours. The folks at Vila Window repair know what they are doing.
Description of Work: The glass terrace door in my apartment on the Upper West Side did not close properly; it was sagging down over the last 4 years and the metal of the door was scraping against the metal of the frame. The hinges needed adjustments, and the glass needed to be re-centered within its Aluminum frame. These adjustments were necessary because the hinges of the terrace door were not properly installed during the original construction of the building (~ 6 years ago), and, in addition, the glass was not properly held in place within its frame when the door was originally installed (the spacers/wedges around the frame were missing)!

+ -1 moreThis was all quite painless. After the repairman arrived, he got right to work replacing the broken mechanisms in all the windows. What surprised me was, after he finished each window, he cleaned up all the dirt and picked up the scraps of metal and then cleaned the window before he went on to the next window. It took him under 2 hours to do all the work. I wish there was more to tell, but the truth is, this was one of the most pleasant experiences I've had with a company. They have a bland website and their phone manners are lackluster, but don't let that put you off. These guys are the real deal. They come when they promise. They do the work they've been hired to do. They clean up after themselves. And they're reasonably priced.
Description of Work: These guys are fast. I called Vila Window Repair and had an estimator here within a hour to measure and assess the situation. He was thorough and polite and gave me an estimate on the spot to repair 7 windows that had various problems - cracked glass, doesn't stay open, doesn't open at all, sticks - all the typical problems that aluminum windows have after 20 years. We made an appointment and the repairman showed up on time and completed all the work quite professionally in a few hours. He replaced the mechanisms in most of the windows to restore them back to proper working condition and replaced the cracked window.
