I tried to get them to come in and give me an estimate. FAIL.
Description of Work: My company is relocating me from New York City to San Francisco, and they recommended United Van Lines as the company to use. I called a United Van Lines agent in Arlington, VA, which is where my company is headquartered, and they told me that their New York City-sister affiliate, Victory, would get in touch with me. I waited two weeks or so (during which I'm getting emails and calls from other rival companies, which I ignored), with no response. I called the United agent back three times to ask him what was going on. Each time he promised he would get them on the phone personally to schedule an estimation at my apartment in Manhattan. Finally, I get a call one day, from someone who identified herself as Rayna (sp?) from Victory moving. I call her back on the number she left, and I get bounced from one guy to another, neither of whom seems to know what to do with me. I am then told, after being on hold for 20 minutes, that there is only 1 perrson from Victory who can make an appointment for an estimation, and that person is out of the office. They can't give me that person's cell. They can't connect me to another person who can make an appointment. My move is coming up in the next few weeks, and I no longer have the patience to wait around for this unprofessional nonsense. I told them politely that I had different companies coming in to give me quotes, and I wanted to make sure to include them too. The guy on the phone told me very frankly that if the other companies were United Van Lines companies, which I said I didn't know if they were or not, then he didn't want my business and he didn't want to compete against them. So, I said, do you guys want to come in and give me the estimation or not, and he said no. And that was that. Really a waste of my time, really unhappy I spent all that time waiting for them.
