It was a terrible experience.  The demolition went pretty well, except the workers made a hole in my bathroom which extended into the exterior corridor, which contractor started to fix, but did not, so the building management did the work.
Some electrical work was done.  Without my consent the circuit breaker box was relocated into the foyer/living room of my
apartment.  When I insisted it be moved back to its less conspicuous location, I was told it would cost me more money.
It doesn't matter because I now learn from my new contractor (and three electricians) that the electrical work was done improperly.
So I am now paying someone else to rewire and reinstall.
The materials used in the framing were substandard in some places. For example, I had shown this contractor pocket doors in the apartment I am now occupying. But the materials he used would never have supported my pocket doors and are being replaced
now by my new contractor for a proper installation.
I gave this guy $26,500.  (plus $9,500. to architect he recommended who did what I think is a decent job) and got maybe
$12,500. worth of services---basically the demolition.
The place was left a mess every day and things that were left in the apartment were sloppily and inadequately covered.
Also, a new Toto toilet which was to be saved and used in my new bathroom was thrown out during the demolition phase.
I think there was poor communication between the contractor and his workers, who are just under pressure to get the job
done.  I believe I made it clear that I wanted a high end renovation at the outset.  This was a disaster and unpleasant.
This guy has no pride of workmanship.

He is great to work with you, he is very reasonable in resolving any problems, he will work on the estimate, make suggestions, that can improve the project,  and he also resolves problems and punch lists, and in many instances he can assist you with the design of your project. I should add that he gives you a very professional and detailed contract and estimate so if yo want to alter part of the job you know what the cost is. In addition he has a very reasonable payment schedule, as the job progresses.

This contractor did not adhere to the guidelines provided by the Coop's managing agent, nor did he manage his workers as instructed by the Superintendent. When our apartment suffered documented damage, he neither acted adequately nor promptly to make necessary repairs. Though he initially took responsibility and we were assured by the architect that all would be repaired, in the end he suggested the damage already existed. The damage was witnessed by and fully documented to the Copperative's board members. After Tartamella failed to make the repairs, we notified all concerned that we would have them made and render the bill. This remains unpaid.
