Rahat Construction owner Kiza Ismail was knowledgeable, and easy to work with. On the repaving he installed re-bar to reinforce the sidewalk. Other contractors tried to convince me it was not necessary. He ended up repaving our next door neighbors sidewalk as well. Now they both look great. The work in the garage solved a problem with the slope of the entry that had resulted in water running inside. We have since had big rains--the garage floor stayed dry. After watching his work in the garage, another neighbor behind us has contracted him for work. The roof required re-coating. His work their was quick and good. They solved so puddling problems that we had with the roof. His prices were fair. His crew worked diligently. He started when he said he would and finished the jobs quickly. It was a refreshing experience in working with a contractor. I will hire him again.

I have used Rahat Construction in the past on other project and found them to be professional, proficient, knowledgable and on top of their game. They pay attention to details. I would happily recommend them as a trustworthy company

Kari was very professional. He came as planned and was punctual. They were thorough, clean and inventive. my house was left super clean each time they came. Had an imperfect wall that another contractor could not figure out how to backsplash over. Kazi found an excellent solution and the work is perfect! Will hire them again for sure!

It went great. Rahat had a break in their schedule so they came earlier than anticipated. We didn't have time to clean the basement so they moved everything away from the walls in order to work. They were quick and we are pleased with the job. Very communicative and easy to deal with.

Rahat Construction Corp did an excellent job for us, for a fair price. Our basement is completely transformed. They showed up on time, did the agreed upon work in an efficient manner, finished according to schedule, and there were no haggles or hassles. It was a big job, but their work only caused minimal disruption for us. Everyone in the work crew was courteous and professional. We would definitely work with Rahat again.

I had two separate bathroom jobs done by Kazi and Rahat construction: one bathroom needed a wall rebuilt and retiled (after plumbing work), a new vanity installed and a bathtub reglazed; the other bathroom was a gut renovation. The first project (the 'easy' one): the wall was rebuilt and retiled beautifully: penny tiles had to be replaced, and the job was immaculate: the tiles were laid so nicely that they served to highlight how poorly the original tiles had been installed. I badly needed a new bathtub, but I loved the floor tiles in the bathroom and could not find matching replacement tiles anywhere: Kazi suggested a reglaze on the existing tub, which would allow me to keep my floor, and the tub now looks even cleaner and shinier than new. Vanity was installed even after some tricky plumbing requirements were dealt with - a new coat of paint was also applied, and the bathroom looks amazing. The second bathroom was a bigger project: absolutely everything was removed, a new floor needed to be made since the existing one was slanted, insulation was done and the walls and door were reframed. Waterproof walls were added around the shower along with a new window. The the tiling began - I chose what turned out to be the tiniest tiles for the shower wall, and again, the installation was just about perfect: there are no lines out of whack or gaps in the tiles. The rest of the room was done in subway tiles, which also were laid perfectly. The floor was tiled, a new vanity was installed, along with a medicine cabinet set into the wall and two new lights, a shelf, towel rack and TP holder. Ceiling and walls were painted as well - the final project exceeded even my expectations, and I could not be happier with the end results. Kazi's team were always on time, respectful and pleasant (they dealt well with my older stubborn dog and I managed to work from home with little to no interruption, even when the work being done was on the same floor as my office!). Andres, the man who did all the work in both bathrooms, is highly skilled and a truly patient worker, his tile work is outstanding (I did not have easy tiles to install!). Kazi was on site at least twice a day and was always reachable by phone or text. His team was willing to install all materials I had chosen and offered really good feedback and advice throughout the duration of both projects. I definitely recommend Kazi and Rahat Construction and will definitely be using them again for my next project.

Kazi is wonderful, responsible, direct, and helpful. He is talented and a pleasure to work with. We encountered several roadblocks to this work, involving significant removal of debris, and he was very helpful in helping me figure out a solution in a time sensitive manner.

Rahat is my go to exterior contractor. He is intelligent, honest, hard working, and fixes every problem presented to him. I wanted to replace my entire awning roof, but he advised that this was unnecessary and expensive, and instead painted and fixed issues with the old one, which saved me a lot of money. He expertly diagnosed the issue with water getting into my basement ceiling and ruining the plaster, and was able to fix everything without me going broke. He replaces cheap, shoddy tiles installed by the house’s previous owner and put in new, better quality tiles. He further found that there was no concrete beneath the tiles, just dirt and gravel! He also fixed the rest of the roof and ensured it was waterproof. Can’t recommend him enough.

All went well, no issues, quality work.

Had work done on Aug 4, 2016 by 8/5 there were cracks and crumbling. Response was quick situation fixed however by Feb 2017-just 6 mo later it was again with cracks and crumbling, I once again reached out. Waited until June for someone to come by, patch work was done and the end result looked terrible. I think Mr. Kazi outsourced this job since his company is in Brooklyn and my home is in the Bronx. My walkway looks terrible at the moment! Very disappointed.

Very prompt, polite, fair price, clean. Questions answered honestly. When repair in basement done and was incomplete due to misinformation provided him, Kazi called back, did repair and did not charge extra. He also evaluated exterior of home to determine what absolutely had to be done now and what could wait. I would recommend and use his services again.

Kazi and his crew at Rahat are the best renovation professionals we’ve had (and we’ve had a few) in the 18 years we’ve lived in our modest two story houses in Brooklyn . Back in 2006 we started a major renovation of our house, including an extension to the backyard for a new kitchen which required considerable excavation and fill as we’re more than a couple of feet below ground level in the back there. Also, new underground drainage was put in under our brick patio. The contractor at the time built five six foot wide steps from the kitchen’s sliding glass doors to the patio. Also a cement walkway was replaced along the back to front side of the house. Overtime, some problems started to come to light. To expand and correct some of the work from 12 years ago, we decided this summer to go on Angie’s list for the first time and selected some contractors for quotes. We saw the photos of Kazi’s outdoor work in our area , and were quite impressed. We picked Rahat, which had a very reasonable quote (and not the highest). When Kazi’s first came to our house, he noticed the drainage problems immediately before we pointed them out. (During hard downpours the drain at the base of the stairs was not adequate to keep the rain water level from flooding our kitchen; also two other drains on the patio itself were not placed in a manner to catch the runoff). He also inspected the cracks that had opened up in the cinderblock support wall of the staircase and suspected that either the foundation for the supporting walls was substandard or even missing (turns out there was no foundation). He measured, making helpful suggestions and came back the next day with a very detailed and clearly written scope of work and quote. We signed. As many of the readers will attest, some contractors will start a job and show up for a couple of days and then you start seeing them less often because they’re busing picking up and starting other work . Kazi does not do that: And he has his own permanent crew of professional workers he can rely on. They started right away and they worked every weekday (even on the hottest of days of July/August) until the work was complete. And even with a company to run, it was rare that I didn’t see Kazi on site, supervising. I would continually be amazed at coming home at night and seeing, that projects I didn’t expect to see done until later in the week, had been completed the same day. As any contractor does, Kazi will offer you options on materials and added work when needed – He’s not high-pressure about them in the least. You’ll find his recommendation are almost always sound and worth doing at the time rather than waiting. As for materials, the red brick and grey granite slabs on the stairwell are beautiful and constructed with total precision. (I would recommend the granite in particular, you won’t slip on it in the rain and it really looks lovely when wet). We were so impressed than we have hired Kazi to work on a much larger project, the front! There are quite a few challenges there. We’re not sure isn’t basically unchanged from the 1890’s when it was built. So far his work has lived up to the expectations of excellence from work in our back. We’ll have a review when that’s complete.

Mr. Ismail listened to our requirements and always consulted with us if circumstances changed our work plans. His team was on time, industrious, professional and did a great job. They kept the work area clean and worked relatively quietly. His fee was reasonable and we plan on using his services again.

The job went well. The workers came when expected, was courteous when spoken to and cleaned up when they were finished every day. Kazi, the owner discussed with us any concerns that came up while doing the job ( i.e. originally the roof was to be simply patched and painted but it was found to have some structural concerns and so these was addressed. )

Overall, Kazi and his team did a great job and I would use them again. They're great if you know what you want, but if you're looking for someone to come with strong design sensibilities who will work with you to design your space, then these are probably not your guys. But if you have a good idea of what you want to do, they work very well within a limited scope. I had Rahat Construction work on four projects: 1. Removing the rust off my steel lintels and repainting them. (B+) The team did a decent job, although there was some leftover remnants of a bird's nest that I asked them to remove before they repaired the lintels. They said they would, but they didn't -- I later found big sections of the bird's nest when I couldn't close my window properly. 2. Install a metal ceiling in the boiler room. (A+) The team did a great job here. 3. Install a metal door into the boiler room. (A) The installation was seamless, but they lost the key so I couldn't get in the boiler room for a week. But they definitely fixed the problem as soon as they could. 4. Remove the rust on the underside of a deck and spot repaint those areas. (B-) They missed a few sections of the deck so water has still been leaking through. To be fair to them, there was a lot of rusted areas so I understand how they missed some areas. But the point is that you need to pay attention to the work they do. Final score: (A-) I thought they did a good job, and Kazi definitely is out to do his best. But you need to watch his guys closely to make sure they don't cut corners. The company has a great response time to calls and emails.

They were very good. The only difficulty that i had is the communication (language) but the job was great and he worked very well.
