Work was done in a few weeks, they held it in the shop as they waited for scratch coat to be applied to the stoop. All iron work came back looking beautifully refinished. Difficult to tell any of it was removed. Only had one issue, gate hinges and latch came back unexpectedly as new parts. Gasper's team was quick to locate original parts and restore gate to my complete satisfaction.
Description of Work: Gasper was very professional and easy to work with. We were having our stoop completely renovated. Gasper's team removed all iron rails and balusters from the stoop. Also removed front railing, posts and gate. All this was brought back to the shop where they were stripped, repaired, primed and painted. Window guards stripped and other light repairs done on site.

Sent them an email drawing - they responded quickly with a cost proposal and lead time. Signed the proposal and sent them a deposit check - they called on the appointed day, arrived exactly when they said they would, installed the railing exactly as drawn, touched up the paintwork, cleaned up and left. That's all there is to tell.

I like that he got back to me when I called or emailed him. He always provided a prompt reply. I had to wait a couple of months to use him because he was very busy in the summer time. He did a good job. I think they might have been a little careless with the blowtorch because they burnt some of the siding of my house. I wasn't so upset about it. I thought with such good ratings on Angie's list, they have the courtesy clean up their mess afterwards. The company's response to my post was correct and they did not cause the burn marks.

[Members Name] I wish you would of contacted me prior to leaving this review, I would of told you that the burn marks on the siding were pre-exsiting prior to us doing any of your work. please talk to your dad that was present at the time and ask him if my guy showed him the damage before starting any of the work. we try and be as careful as possible and occasionally things do happen, but this one's not on me. please confirm with your dad and let me know otherwise. Thank you for your business and I hope we can work again in the future. Gasper

Gasper Nogara, the second generation owner, is an excellent professional. My project, as designed by my architect, involved parts that are not commonly available, including extra-thick, solid-core twisted posts, and handrails composed of a half-round bar on a flat bar and ending in a "lamb's tongue". These had to be custom-ordered from various vendors or custom-fabricated in Gasper's shop. When Gasper came to my house to take exact measurements and sign a contract, he had a good idea of how long it would take, given his workload, to fabricate and install my job. Installation was exactly within the promised timeframe, and was performed efficiently and professionally. The final product is something to be proud of.

I selected this company based on the number of favorable Angie's List reviews and the fact that it is a locally owned company. Gaspar made the initial contact. He was friendly and professional; arrived on time for appointment; discussed options and recommendations. Promised 6-8 week turnaround and delivered within 5 weeks. I rated price a B because I have nothing to compare it to. I admit that I did not shop around for price. I was most concerned about quality and getting the job on timely and was satisfied based on the prior reviews and my conversation with Gaspar. Carlos and Alfonso arrived to install the hatch cover including frame. They were efficient and friendly. They offered some options for sealing around the frame and proceeded to complete the job. They cleaned up nicely at the end; even put the window box back in place. It was a pleasure to have them do the onsite work.

Great! Piscopo was one of the lowest of 4 quotes that we got and their analysis of what needed to be done was among the best. My neighbors were thrilled with the results. One said that in 20 years he doesn't recall that the gate under the stoop ever worked better.
Description of Work: Made 3 repairs at a Park Slope, Brooklyn brownstone building: (1) welded back the strike for the front gate, (2) spot-welded two places on the fire escape, and (3), the major job, repaired the gate under the stoop so that it is securely attached to the building and is easy to close and lock.

One of the best service providers we've worked with over the last month, getting our new house in order. Gasper and his team are responsive, professional and accommodating, and they do beautiful work. We were told it would be about 4 weeks to get our work done, given what else they had on their plates, and Gasper called me 2 weeks after we contracted with them to let me know they were ready to schedule installation!

Lovely work, Iron work is of the highest quality. Gaspar created, painted and installed these gorgeous guards with the utmost care. Gaspar was thorough and had numerous conversations with me about the work. They even made the window-guards swing open. I will be using this company in the future for the rest of my windows. You will not find iron-work quality like this anywhere else. Worth every penny. Thank you.

Gasper was very thorough in providing all the options available for the window guards. He pointed out certain regulations that I was not aware of and helped with selecting the right type of window guards. The stoop gate was a bit challenging because he had to manually make it to match the rest of the iron gates on the house. It was a perfect match and looks great! I would definitely use Piscopo again. This review is written much later than it should have been - but better late than never.

Gasper came for an initial meeting and walked me through the process, then connected me with the architect to draw up plans and procure the necessary permits. He was then off the scene until that process ran its course, which actually took six months - the reality of doing building work in New York City. When it was time for him to build and install, he was prompt and courteous and scheduled the job to fit my needs. He built the balcony offsite and his team came to install after the footings had been completed by the masonry. The installation took a day - it is now waiting for the masonry team to return and complete the project. Gasper's team were all professional, hardworking, clean and courteous.
Description of Work: I found Piscopo from an ad in Angie's List magazine. Working with an architect he frequently partners with, Gasper from Piscopo built and installed a beautiful, high quality iron balcony onto the 2nd floor of the back of my house. The balcony has stairs that will allow me to access my backyard for the first time in the 16 years I've lived here. He listened to my thoughts and needs and worked collaboratively. He also connected me with a mason to finish the balance of the job. He is professional in both his client communication and his finished product. I would not hesitate to recommend him to others looking to do the same type of work. It is expensive, but it is well worth it. I am certain that the improvement will add significant value to my property and more important, allow me to enjoy the backyard with friends and family.

-All of the jobs with Gasper went extremely well. Let me start by saying that Gasper saved me a lot of money by questioning the design by the original engineer for a 3rd floor steel deck. It was designed to have steel posts rising almost 30 feet from footings set beside the house, and the deck was to be positioned on top of an existing roof. Gasper suggested that we use the existing roof as a deck instead of creating a steel structure to go on top of it. He said that by simply placing a steel railing around the existing roof and using a roof top tile it would be more than sufficient and would serve the purpose we were aiming for--creating private outdoor spaces for each of the three units. went back to the architect and engineer with this suggestion and they both agreed that this would work out just fine. This was a huge relief because it proved to be a significant reduction in cost. I knew that this was someone I could trust. He could have done the deck that was drawn up in the plans, and built it extremely well, but he decided to look out for my best interest. A rarity in this business. He told me "this is what I would do it if it were my house" and continued with his explanation of how to build the deck and railing. -Steel I Beam install / Cost approximately $12,000 Gasper came by and told me where we should build the temporary support walls in the basement prior to the day the job was to be done. With my carpenters, we constructed the walls. Gasper then came by again to inspect that they were sufficient before performing the install. He suggested that having the carpenters on site on the day the steel was to go in would be beneficial to the integrity of the building. (By having the carpenters cut the joists immediately before the steel was to go in the building would not have any time to sag and the steel would pick up the load immediately). His game plan was to bring the steel in through a basement window and set it on scaffolding below where it was to be set in the ceiling. Then the carpenters would cut the existing joists. And then the steel would be raised up into place and set within the front and back foundation walls with cement. The carpenters would then finish their piece of the job by connecting the existing joists with joist hangers. The crew arrived promptly on the day of the install and was finished by 2pm. I was shocked at how efficient they were. A 28 foot piece of steel went through the window in one piece. Pretty impressive. The only reason they were done at 2pm instead of 11:30am was because the carpenters were a bit slow making the cuts in the joists. Gasper's crew lifted the steel with ease, and cranked it up a bit removing a great deal of the deflection that existed on the first floor. Gasper was on the job site the entire time, and was doing the work himself along with his crew. He made me feel at ease and did exactly what he said he was going to do. The job was completed in 6 hours. -Elevated steel deck / Cost Approximately $16,000 After reviewing the plans for the deck, Gasper suggested that we go with steel beams that were a bit larger than the engineers plan had called for. Being that this deck was going to be sitting above an existing wooden deck, and I wanted it to last for many, many years without the possibility of any deflection this seemed like a smart idea. The footings were dug. Gasper came to inspect them, and we set a date to do the install. His crew showed up promptly, as always and they got to work. First, the posts were set upon the footings, and then the steel beams were set upon the posts. They set the beams on a slight slope away from the house. This way no water would collect on the deck. Gasper spent a lot of time making sure that this was correct before moving forward. The slant is not noticeable at all to the naked eye, just enough to assure that water will flow off the deck easily. Gasper then tied the steel beams into the side of the building. Then, the corrugated steel floor was laid upon the steel frame. Finally, they installed the steel railing around the perimeter. A nice touch that Gasper added to the railing was to place pre-drilled holes for screws within the railing so we could attach a nice piece of wood as a cap for the railing. It's something that he suggested and we thought was a great idea. Once again, this was a one day job. There were more moving parts so they were finished by around 4pm. -Steel railing around perimeter of 3rd floor roof deck/install of one cellar door/install of two egress staircases from roof decks to alley Cost Approximately $5,000 Gasper came by and took measurements for all of the above. All items were fabricated in his shop. He then brought to the job site and completed this in one day. The guys knew exactly what they had to do. They even worked around a mistake I had made in regards to where we placed an air conditioner condenser unit. I neglected to mention this to Gasper when he took the initial measurements. But when they came to do the job and we discussed it, they were able to adjust. It took more labor, but they fixed the stair placement and made it work. Gasper is someone I look forward to working with again on my next job. He took over the business from his father and has a tremendous amount of experience and insight into the nuances of building with steel.
Description of Work: -Installed 28 foot long steel I-beam in the basement of my building. -Installed a 216 square foot (18 x 12) elevated steel deck set on 4 steel posts. Placed a corrugated steel floor on top of the steel--ready for a concrete floor to be poured upon it. Deck is accessed from 2nd floor apartment and sits above a wooden deck below which is accessible from the garden duplex apartment. -Installed a steel railing along the perimeter of a 200 square foot rooftop extension and attached it to the building. Added two sets of steel fire stairs for egress--one from 3rd floor deck to 2nd floor deck, and the other from 2nd floor deck to alley beside the building. Installed on cellar door

Gasper is a true professional. This was the second time he was doing work for me. The first time (see Review from 1/52012), I had not met him in person, only communicated by email and phone. This time when we met to spec the job, he was a delight to meet. He took his measurements and promised delivery within a specific time frame. True to his word and works, Gasper delivered...actually two of his very competent workers arrived with a masterfully crafted grate with the lock already attached. This was an important detail, because I was later told by the workers that attaching the lock on site can be sometimes problematic. As quickly as they came, they completed their task and were gone. In between, the men were very courteous and professional and also helpful. I was working on a small project and they were quick to assist me for which I was extremely grateful. Piscopo Iron Works produces detailed and quality work. I am very pleased with the work that Gasper and his men produce. Of course I would readily use them again since I am a repeat customer. I highly recommend Gasper and Piscopo IronWorks.

Gasper was great -- super professional, responsive and produced great work. He came for a consult so we could work together to figure out how deep to make the belly of our window grates to accommodate air conditioners without blocking passageways, etc. He built really nice, sturdy grates, and kept me updated on his progress while the fabrication was happening. When they were ready for installation, Gasper and his crew came on time, did good work, and cleaned up after themselves. We installed 4 grates in total, some big and some small. Gasper gave us a bit of a bulk discount, with the result that he did better for us on the total price than with the Angie's List coupon. We also notice and care about how contractors treat their workers, and we liked Gasper on that front as well.
