Water heater failed and they sent a "closer' to avoid replacement (replaced when confronted). Then misdiagnosed a sensor as "bad"on boiler and wanted TWICE as much as others to replace a "found to be a WORKING PART"! Not to be trusted! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!

Be careful of these guys. They try to sell you over priced services. I invited them over for an annual check up of the heating system. Got this long lecture about what all needed to be done. Just the first batch of services was going to cost me $1,000. The description sounded fishy so I got a second opinion. There was a kernel of truth In Petri Plumbings description but it was vastly exaggerate. I ended up paying $50 for repairs.

Extremely good communication and follow up. Plumber Alex arrived on time, explained everything, and was very personable and capable. Fixed a leaking toilet with no problems. Office was very efficient and easy to contact. Surpassed my expectations - hIghly recommended.

No-showed, despite a second chance. Unprofessional; avoid. Petri was supposed to show up between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. before starting other jobs for an assessment of work to be done. I got a call around 8:20 a.m. stating that they wouldn't be showing up on time because they went to other jobs instead. They asked if they could come by later, and I told them that it would need to be at or before noon, as I was leaving shortly after. They told me that would be fine, and that they would call when they were ~30 minutes out. No call, no show. 10/07/2022 (UPDATE) : Michael Petri came out today to do a consultation without charging me to make up for the no-show, and was thorough and provided several options for moving forward.

Positives---very responsive by email and phone, office staff are very courteous and helpful, as was the technician sent to the apartment. Very difficult to understand the pricing however. My issue was a leaky shower head (probably a solution most of us could figure out with a half day and a youtube video). They made two visits to the apt to assess the problem, which cost $1000 before sending an estimate to complete the job which was an additional $6000+, so total over 7K for a leaky shower head. When I inquired about why this was so expensive, the only specifics I received in the response was that it cost them $2500 to pull a permit for the job without any other justification. I subsequently got a recommendation for another licensed plumber from building management, who came, met our building maintenance to turn the water off, and had the job done in 35 minutes for $816 (including tax). The issue wasn't even the full cartridge, rather it was the 5-cent O-ring on the cartridge (the 2nd plumber nonetheless replaced the full cartridge at no additional cost as he had one in his van). Only really two possibilities here, that the company doesn't really know what they're doing or they're willfully trying to scam folks. To be on the safe side, also sending this to the BBB.

They came over on time and I explained my situation I was left with from the previous plumber who had been there for two and a half weeks trying to fix my problem and managed to wreck my property and bill me close to 9k for a completely wrong diagnosis (prompting me to call Petri). Within a couple hours Petri had fixed the problem with it being a simple drain clog and hard to believe it took ten days with the other plumber and they were not even close to solving the actual problem. Petri was professional and thorough and caring for my property and I was so relieved to have finally fixed the problem.

As soon as I started the search, Petri responded immediately. Receptionist wanted to dispatch the next day. I called up to see what exactly are they coming out to do. I work from home and would have to have time allotted from my employer. Her response was to see what the problem is. You will have to pay $89 for us to come out and if you use us and we can fix right then and there, that’s waived, the tech came looked at the issue and then wrote up some figures and said it’s $677.17 just to run a diagnostic. I’m confused but desperate to get my water running properly so I paid it. He apparently went to his vehicle to get tools(I only saw a phone) Once the “diagnostic” completed, I was given a quote of over 3,000. And to top it off, that may or may not fix the problem because it may be something behind the walls that is causing it. So you know that will be an additional price. So I have my husband screaming at me because he thought I got someone that would have given a free estimate and this way we wouldn’t mind paying 3,000 or more if this will get the job done. My advice always have someone at the home with you that know a little about the issue(my husband had to work), don’t seem desperate, and whatever you do, discuss pricing before anyone is dispatched. Petri is company that knows how to take/make money one way or the other. I believe the Pandemic have everyone in a mindset of getting money by any means necessary.

The man evaluating was very smart skilled and fast and their service was well done

Our shower is leaking. When turned on, water comes out of the wall. Petri plumbing quoted $89 to come out and give an estimate. The guy came and worked on the shower. It worked for one night and they charged $325. Water is still coming out of the wall.

It was good, professional and friendly.

Great, Service Technician arrived early had parts on hand. Work was accomplished efficiently , cleanly and completely.

They have done a number of larger and smaller projects for us and the work including major and minor repairs and the reconstruction of a bathroom, have all been done professionally and with great courtesy. They are not cheap but they are worth it.

Super knowledgeable and professional. Also worked with us to bring the price down for a big job.

The other day I noticed water on the kitchen floor. When I opened the cabinet under the sink it was flooded with water. I needed a plumber so I called Petri Plumbing. It was my first time using them but I was really happy with the service. Chris PETRI, who was very pleasant on the phone, called to confirm the appointment and they sent me an email too. They also send you an email, with the picture of the technician who is coming, so you don’t have to worry about letting a stranger in. The technician Jeremy who came to do the work was great, especially given the current pandemic. He came fully protected with mask etc; even wearing shoe coverings which he replaced each time re-entering the house. He replaced the entire spray faucet fixture the same day and unlike other plumbers I’ve had, left the area spotless. I was extremely happy with PETRI Plumbing and would definitely use them again.

These guys made an emergency situation bearable. They are super pricey but their customer service, responsiveness and willingness to discuss/answer questions/do research makes it worth it. You can actually feel safe when your water heater goes kaput in zero degree weather and you have no hot water because you know Petri will handle it that day and handle it well.

With the stress that was involved with the service they did a very good job. No complaints. They were very professional.

Had to pay for the service call but did not go with their $1800 estimate. They were correct in what the saw and was in need of work but all I called for and wanted was a simple faucet replacement

I just used Petri to replace a water heater that they originally installed in Oct 2011 for $1,355.00 and it was the biggest mistake. The heater was still under warranty and they charged me $1,590.70 for a replacement that they now saw is the Labor Charge for the new heater. AO-Smith is providing them a replacement Water Heater under warranty for which we are not getting credit. Will never use them again. What a change in a few years for this company. We had no water for the weekend and were very happy with original work so obviously used them again. After the fact and after having a conversation with Chris i called around and found the following. There are multiple other plumbers that would have done a new installation of the same water heater for between $1,200 to $1,400 for new TANK AND LABOR BEFORE WARRANTY REIMBURSEMENT FOR TANK. Also, if purchase an AO-Smith from Lowes the install labor price is $695. As an aside we just basically paid FULL price for a new 10-year Heater that will only have a 2+ year balance warranty from initial heater. AO-Smith customer service was also shocked that anyone would charge $1,590.70 for labor to install a water heater. BEWARE

DO NOT HIRE THESE GUYS. Our AC unit broke a couple of weeks ago and we contacted them to diagnose and fix the issue. On May 31, we make an appointment with them to come look at the unit for $89. They gave us a window of 9-12 in the morning. They call to tell me that they'll be coming towards the end of the window. Fine. They call after the window, saying that they'll have to push it to the next window. Okay... 4pm comes around and still no sign of them. Keep calling, they say, we only have one HVAC guys, he's on the Upper East Side. Oookay... we're in Brooklyn. Finally the guy shows up at 5:30pm, which is later than both the windows. He looks at the unit, suggests we charge up our Nest and see if that works. We pay $89. His suggestion didn't work, which is fine, I get that it's hard to determine exactly what the issue is with just a visual. We call them again. A full diagnostic costs $600 and will take a few hours. Wow that sounds super expensive for something that doesn't include a fix, but fine, we agree to it, and make an appointment for the next Friday, first thing in the morning, so that we won't have the same issue as the previous week. That morning, the company calls and says the technician won't be here until noon. WHAT? NO. Good thing the tech came straight to us instead of following the schedule. That day, the technician goes through troubleshooting, thinks he figures out the problem but will need to order parts. Okay... we pay ANOTHER $771 on top of what we've already paid. He calls the office and tells them to order the parts he needs and to express deliver. We agree to an appointment the next Friday. We agree to a quote of ANOTHER $3K and that we are all set for Friday. The day before the appointment, they ask for a 40% deposit. Um, no. They obviously are unreliable and we're not going to give them money and not be sure they're going to show. We agree to a 9-12 window. THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT, i.e. the day that the technician is supposed to come WITH THE PARTS to finally fix the issue, we get a call in the morning saying that the technician isn't going to come until the end of the window. We've been through this before... Finally AT NOON, they call again saying they're not coming because THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS because they can't order the parts until we put down a deposit. WHAT? For A WHOLE WEEK, we were under the impression that the parts have already been ordered. They don't tell us until THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT that they STILL DON'T HAVE THE PARTS????? And they needed a deposit until they proceeded? Why on earth did we make an appointment then?????? TLDR; the people who run this company are completely incompetent and cannot handle basic communication, scheduling, or even the ordering of parts. Updated 6/17/2019 Another review to update my previous one. Had another company, Amtech Cooling and Heating come take a look. They determined all it was was that the wiring was loose. Taped it up, and it was fixed for $250 (vs the $3k Petri quoted). I thought the technician at Petri was fine but he's obviously incompetent too. DO NOT TRUST PETRI.

I have used Petri before which is why I contracted with this company to address major plumbing problems uncovered during my basement renovation. My ratings are not based on the work completed as the true test will be this coming winter. The work done involved replacement and re connection to my boiler of underground pipes. I also had baseboard heating installed. My ratings are based on this company's lack of professionalism. Specifically, poor follow-through, lack of accountability, communication of incorrect information and inconsistent communication in regards to financing, scheduling, and project management. They seem to have one main person who pretty much owns all aspects of approving contracts, scheduling, coordination, logistics and project completion (Chris). Dealing with him was very difficult - I missed quite a few days of work because of no show appointments. Chris insisted numerous times one project was completed when it was not, and I got confusing info about financing. I financed almost $10K of this job and was forced to make several monthly payments while this job remained unfinished. I don't think the financing should have started until the job was completed. I did my best to escalate for some resolution by emailing the owner (Michael) who never replied to my email. I then called and left messages for Michael who finally called back and was able to help me move forward to complete the job. Throughout this process Petri made no attempts to hold themselves accountable. Lastly, due to Petri's disorganization, there is a balance left to pay for one of the projects. Petri neglected to add the balance to my account for financing as I had indicated. Chris emailed me on 5/2 that someone would call to take the payment. No one ever did. On 5/17, I received an email from Chris letting me know that despite all of their mismanagement in regards to scheduling, financing, etc... I was going to be sent to collections ASAP. Absolutely no grace for the client and no ownership in regards to their own poor business practices. I cannot recommend this company and will only call them again if there is an issue with the work completed and only if it is covered under a service agreement.

The technician Daniel K provided me with options to solve a problem with a toilet that would not flush properly due to an object stuck in the pipe. When he was unable to remove the obstruction by snaking the drain, he explained the reasons why, and we went to plan B. Daniel was able to identify the need to replace the toilet, returned to the shop to get the new parts, and came back to the building within an hour. The toilet was installed quickly and he hauled the old toilet out for disposal. The service call was scheduled on a Saturday afternoon and the work was performed on a SUNDAY-- Daniel contacted me ahead of the 12pm-4pm service window and arrived early. Other plumbing companies who listed weekend hours were unresponsive and did not take the time to return my voicemails-- even during the following week. Glad I found Petri. Great service and great work.

I expect only the best from Petri, based on past experience, and today was no exception. I called in a panic, having "lost" the brush-head of my toilet cleaner into the bowl. Improbable, but true. Courteous Chris put my mind at ease, Daniel arrived as promised, explained options, got right to work, and all seems to be fine now. I live in a repurposed industrial building, now a loft/coop, and it has had its issues, some more complex than today's. No matter, I find every encounter with Petri management and plumbers to be uncommonly professional and efficient. I whole-heartedly recommend Petri.

I bought a new drain for a bathroom sink and because of the way the cabinet is configured, the waste pipe needed to go a different path then before. I tried to do it myself, but I could not find the correct angle pipe with the right connector, so I decided to call a plumber figuring he would have it or know how to get it. The plumber arrived and I was quoted what I thought was a shockingly high price - $1200 to basically connect a drain I already had. the whole cabinet with sink and fixtures cost around $300. I could not believe it. The plumber told me that if he DIDN'T need to change the direction of the pipe, a simple basic install would have been around $800 and that this is the going rate for this. I have no way of knowing if this is true or not; but if I had the correct angle of pipes, I could have installed it in less than 10 minutes with the pipes themselves costing less than $20.

I can't complain enough how much of a joke it was to deal with this company. It felt like I was trapped in a bad comedy. The first rep they sent was fine. He was a nice guy and said he had solution for our problems. Then I receive a variety of random quotes for the job. When I followed up for an explanation, no one answered. A couple months go by while we focus on other problems with our house. We reached back out and they send ANOTHER rep to give a quote on the work. This guy cancels on us twice. Then when he finally comes, I received 8 different quotes for the 8 different services we needed (again with no explanation of the work). When I asked for two of the items to be done, the owner wants to send ANOTHER rep to assess the situation. Please save your time and sanity and go elsewhere.
