Mumtaz came to give us his overall view of why the water was coming into the house. He told us the front facade had many cracks and holes and the rain water was seeping through the stone. When he went onto the roof he noticed the parapet wall was cracked and bubbled and there was water saturated behind. He was very polite and conscientious about fixing the problem. His workers were both polite, very hard working and neat. They arrived on time each of the four days they worked. Mumtaz and his team of workers were very professional in both manner and capability. We were very pleased with Maxon Construction and would use them again. I will be happy to recommend them to friends and relatives.

Mr. Mumtaz Ahmed arrived promptly with his crew and immediately started working on the chimney at my daughters house. They fixed two chimneys, pointing and cement work. They patched the roof with matching shingles and cleaned the gutters.They cleaned up after themselves and were very professional. The house is located on Long Island and we appreciated Mr. Ahmed going such a far distance from Brooklyn his base area. This is the second time I have used Mr. Ahmed for cement work and I will use him again.

He was prompt, clean, gets the work done in a reasonable amount of time and is always reachable.

I had an emergency situation. My second floor outdoor porch was leaking into the first floor vestibule electric light fixture. Mr. Mumtaz Ahmed immediately located the cracks in the porch area. He came over the very next day at 8:am to start work on my porch. First he power washed the brick all around the entire porch area. He patched and fixed all cracks, then painted the porch with waterproof Thorocoat to seal the porch from all water leaks. He performed brick pointing in this area with water proof cement. He then did some additional cement work in my backyard in a few areas at no additional cost. He also patched and fixed my front steps that needed cement repair at no extra cost. He also scraped and painted my garage door with waterproof paint. I am very satisfied with the work done. It took three days with two men working all day. He guaranteed all his work and said to call immediately if anything else leaks. Mr. Mumtaz Ahmed was very professional at all times. I will definitely use him again in the spring for a few more projects that I need done. Thank you Mr. Ahmed for a job well done.

I set up an appointment with Maxon Construction and as soon as I called he called me back within minutes and said he would come that day and he did. I then met with him and he took measurements. He didn't take out a ladder but walked all around my house to look at the roof and told me that it was pretty bad and I agreed and told him what I wanted. I told him that I wanted the old roof completely taken off to the wood and a new roof installed. I told him that I needed new gutters and soffits. He took out his tape measure and started measuring but didn't have a ladder. He told me what it would entail and called me back and told me that for the roof it was going to be $10,500, but he didn't send a proposal and it was just a phone contact and that was the price he gave. I was disappointed because I wanted a written proposal and although the price was low it left a lot of doubt in my mind. That was the lowest price that I had received, but I'm not going to go with them because I didn't get anything in writing nor did I call them to tell them to put it in writing. It probably would have been prudent of me to do that just to find out for myself if that was indeed the price he was going to charge me. They didn't follow-up or talk about sending me anything, so I just called another contractor.

Mumtaz was the exceptional contractor who shows up when he says he's going to show up to look at your job. One downside is that he may not be on a computer, and so he couldn't e-mail me his bid (and I don't have a fax) but he did promptly fax a bid to my brother for the work. While his bid was not very detailed, he satisfactorily answered all of my questions about things like debris removal and was happy to redo it to specify everything that I wanted (and which I now believe he always intended to take care of anyway). His English is sometimes tough to understand, but it was certainly worth the patience of figuring everything out. We haven't had a big storm yet, but on the off chance that I have any problem with that roof, I have every expectation that he would promptly return to fix it. I have already solicited bids from Mumtaz for future work.

The engineer made his request very specific. I gave his order to Maxon Construction. He got everything I needed. He was very professional. He did a splendid job! There were major problems in this house and Maxon Construction really helped me out. He wouldn't do anything that didn't need to be done. He was very honest. He ended up saving me a lot of money. I would use them again. I would recommend them to anyone. They were great. He really knew what he was doing. As a tradesmen I felt that he was very professional and very knowledgeable. At times he was intrusive to get more work done, but that is the nature of the work. Concrete is very dirty work and you want to get it all done at once rather than step by step work.

I had a very serious water leakage issue in the basement of my new home, which was 77 years old when I bought it. I had contacted multiple companies, several of which were listed on Angie's list. Most of them either didn't return my calls, or had an absolutely impossible timeframe for their estimated date to begin work. One company actually told me that they couldn't think about starting until the end of Summer. Another company returned a couple of my calls several days later, jumbled all of the information, planned to come to my house to assess the situation on two different dates and canceled at the last minute on both occasions. Needless to say, I didn't pursue them any further. Islam at Maxon Construction promptly returned my call and came over to assess the issues the very next day. He was extremely reasonable, very knowledgable, and offered me several options for fixing all of the issues I had. The company was practically immediately available to begin the work, which honestly seemed almost odd to me at the time considering my experiences with all of the other masonry companies I had attempted to contact. Islam personally not only supervised all aspects of the job, but he also very actively participated in it as well. Everyone was very punctual, worked extremely hard, and were professional throughout the entire job. The time estimate as well as the work estimate were spot on. The pointing work that was done was just perfect- the guy was a true artist. In fact, next Summer I plan to definitely hire them to re-point as much of my house as I can afford to have re-pointed. I was so relieved and extremely pleased with the work that Islam and his guys did for me. The aesthetics are very good, the work was well done, nothing leaks, and I can't say enough good things about Islam and his guys. I urge you to talk with them before making any decision to hire a stone mason. They are truly an excellent Angie's list find.

I was impressed with this vendor from the first time I met him about 4 years ago. He has been retained on numerous occasions with the largest job being installation of our new roofing which was completed in September of 2010. He now comes back for roof maintenance. Everything is left spotless and the workmen are so accomodating and polite. It would be worth a trip to our premises to see how well it is maintained. On tap for this vendor in the fall is scraping/rustproofing/painting all our metalwork.

They didn't come back when there were problems. They broke things. I won't recommend them and I wouldn’t use them for roofing or anything. I had been using them for years. I think there was a feud within the company and different people went in different directions. They never came back to back up their work.

Mumtaz was very responsive and early for his appointment (a rarity in our past experiences with contractors). He was very pleasant, knowledgeable and willing to negotiate. Work took about three days from start to finish. He was communicative with tenants. After several heavy rains, tenants report no leaking!

The repairs went well. The crew showed up around 9 AM each day and worked until 5 PM. They also worked on Sat/Sun. They cleaned up after themselves each day and didn't leave the place a mess. They even rang my neighbors bell to tell him to move his car, and hosed down his steps which had become dusty as a result of the brick grinding. They explained everything they were going to do and why. When he realized the extent of damage to the parapet wall was greater than expected he took me up to the roof to make sure I would understand what was going on. Obviously, I can't test the work that was done without benefit of a major storm. However, I can see the work that was done and I have no reason to assume that it wasn't done correctly.

They came immediately. They are ultra-reliable. If he was even going to be a little late he made sure to call. He is very consciencous. They're very down to earth. They're so good at what they do and whenever I need them they'll be here.

Excellent workmanship and professionalism. I am already planning more projects for this company.
