George's Sewer Services

They came and cleaned out the sewer line. They were very professional and polite. Did their job. Answered my questions. And the sewer is no longer blocked. Woman who answered the phone was very polite and helpful.

They came within the two hour time frame I gave. They took their time and explained to me what the problem was in addition to fixing it. I initially only called for the clog drain but asked if he could look at the toilet. He did without hesitation and fixed that as well. They were very friendly.

He claims he freed the drain. His rate was a bit extreme to do a washing machine. I won't use his services again because to me that was too expensive. I had my drain cleaned a year and a half ago, the guy took $75. He catch me once, he'll never catch me again. Next time, I'll let my fingers do the walking on the yellow pages like I did the last time. I won't bother because I had to pay Angie's List a fee plus pay them so that drain cost me over $200 to get cleared. I found out that it wasn't that the drain is full, it was the washing machine itself that was broken. The overflow send in one bag and the machine wasn't shutting the water off so when the machine tried to discharge between, it overflows and the drain couldn't handle it, that's why there was the flood. Once the washing machine was fixed, there was no more problem. I don't even know if the drain was even clogged. I had it cleaned out, whatever will be will be. He was very efficient. He did what he came to do. He put the snake through, cleaned up after himself and left.

He understood my sense of urgency and came to the rescue very quickly.  He was fast and professional!

The service went well. They cleared up whatever mess there was before. They did the job that I asked them to. The price was reasonable.  He did a professional job, and he knew what he was doing. The responsiveness was quick, and they were on time. He was very professional, and he explained everything that he needed to explain, before he started the job.

He was very nice, and came out on time and even called before he came out. I didn't go through with the project, but he left me his card.

I own and manage an aging relative's dwelling in Brooklyn, but I live in NJ.  So all my contact was by phone, not in person.
 One Saturday morning I got a call that the primary toilet was clogged, did not yield to plunging.  After looking briefly on Angie's list I chose George's.  Called at 8:30am.  His wife said they could be at the house around 10, explained that the fee for snaking was $90, and toilet removal (if needed) was $245.  (She'd asked where I got the name, so she knew to apply the 10% discount.)  I said OK (though I mistakenly assumed the second fee was for the whole job; it's only for the second step).
 They did indeed show up by 10. After 40 minutes of unsuccessful snaking, they got my approval to remove the toilet, and after
around 30 minutes removed the offending pad from the back.  They then told me the total for the job, $380 with taxes, but said that the flange broke (from age, rust, corrosion) so that the toilet could not be re-installed.  They said the problem must be fixed by replacing drainpipe from the basement below, a big job.  They did not have time to do it the same day, nor the next ?Easter Sunday? so we were left with a non-functioning bathroom.  They said they'd get back with an estimate.
 I was very satisfied with their response, promptness, and the unclogging.   The price seemed high for what was apparently (from my end) an 80-minute job.  From my standpoint it stung because we were still left without a functioning toilet, but of course from their standpoint the labor was only somewhat less than if they'd re-installed the toilet before leaving.  And I'm not sure it's out of line with what others on the list have paid for similar work.
 The ending:  I found a self-employed plumber who showed up 2 hours later, decided he could replace the flange and repair the whole thing (since the drain below was PVC, not old metal), but suggested the old toilet be replaced.  So he got a new toilet ($125) and flange, made the repair and installed the toilet ($175).  (I'll review him when he's ready to join the list.)  Time will tell whether he was right.

The two guys who responded were friendly and went to work quickly.
The prices they quoted me upon arrival were higher than other quotes I had received for the same work.
They refused to honor the Angie's List  discount, stating that their prices were already discounted.
I had them clear the line because I needed it done ASAP.
I was happy with the work, the crew was good, but I felt like I overpaid.

I called and they told they would show fromat 1 to 3:pm.  The guy came in at 1:30 PM.  He was very profesional and explained to me what the issue was.  He quoated me 350.00 for the work. I used the 10 percent Angies' coupon, so the prices went down from 350. to 315.00  He took about 35 minutes to unclog the pipe and all the clog issues went away.  I would use this serveice again.

Plumber was late but did great work in fixing out slow shower drain.

I called Georges Sewer Service and was told they would be at my house by 10AM on Monday Morning.  George arrived on time and ready to help.   He quickly accessed the problem and told me what he needed to do to fix it.  He brought his machinery downstairs and off to work he went.  His machine brought back roots that have grown into my sewer from the tree in front of my house.  
George suggested that we "water jet" the line to get as many of the roots out as possible being that I am not ready for the expense of replacing the entire sewer line.  I went ahead with the job and the sewer is flowing just fine.  I would recommend George to my friends and family and will certainly be using him again in the future.

The plumber came the day after I called, and arrived ahead of schedule, which was great. They were pleasant and got to work immediately. My only complaints are that 1. I was told they provide free estimates, but I wasn't given any estimate until they were halfway done with the work. When I asked about it, they said they couldn't give an estimate until they figured out where the bust was (understandable) but by the time they told me The price they had already begun to fix it. 2. I was charged for 2 hours labor plus materials, but half the time they were here was spent waiting around for the parts to come. Overall, I'm happy with the job they did and they took the Angie's list 10% coupon which was great, but I'm a little skeptical about the charges.

Again, Angie's list comes through. Needing service performed and living over 200 miles away can be a nightmare. Angie's list takes the guess work out of finding competent and reliable service people. Living in Washington DC and tending to the needs of my Mom's house in Brooklyn, NY can be challenging. So far, Angie's list has mitigated the process of finding suitable and reasonable people to perform work, usually just by making a phone call.  When I phoned George's Sewer Service, Barbara took my information and arranged for someone to take a look at my clogged back yard drain. On the appointed day, there was some technical issues with transportation, but when contacted, George took into account my situation (on a one day visit to get the drain cleared) and showed up with his coworker "D." D assessed the issue and made all the effort to clear the drain, but to no avail. It was then determined that this would require digging up the very old cast iron pipes and running a new line to the main drain. So I rearranged for that job to be done at my convenience with a two day advance notice. The day of the job, George, D, and Alex showed at the appointed time. I also needed a water supply line run from the basement through the wall out to the backyard. While Alex worked on running the line, D broke concrete and dug a new path for the drain line. The job was made more difficult because of access to the sewer line was in a tight spot. But with determination, patience and humor, D was able to run the new line, cut an access opening into the main line some 2.5 ft down and attach the new line with a special coupling. After the pipe was laid and flow established, the trenching was back filled and concrete was mixed and the cut repaved. The service line being installed made it much easier to do the drain work because we now had ready access to water supply. The team worked diligently to complete the job as daylight faded. In the end, I was extremely pleased with the job done well and working with D and Alex. I liked the service and the can do attitude of George's Sewer service. I knew I was working with professionals who were courteous, easy going and extremely knowledgeable. I would not hesitate in using George's sewer service in the future and would gladly recommend their work.

Problem was that whenever any toilet in the house was flushed, raw sewage backed up into all three sinks in the laundry room. They came within the hour. First they tried to use snake in sewer line. Was told there was decades of grease and sludge. Was told that my 100 year old house had a sewer line that was not properly installed angle wise. During the 25 years that I have owned house I had never had this problem. Also 10 years earlier I had all plumbing in the house updated and all pipes in the house replaced. (But not the line that was the source of the problem) They brought in a machine I think was called a squid. Was told no guaranties it would fix problem. It did fix the problem and have not had problem re-occur. I am not a plumber so I do not know if everything I was told was true. The only dissatisfaction I had was the un-expected additional expense. To be fair to this company the work they did was necessary and the price fair.

 

Three men came and had to dig 5 feet into the driveway to find the clogged pipe.  The pipe was filled with cement 4 feet deep, that is why it would not drain.  They changed the entire line with new pipe, Covered it up and put 4 inches of new cement on top.  All this was done in one day.  Now my drain is working well and I keep the driveway entrance locked so this can never happen again.

He came out same day within an hour. He did it in a reasonable amount of time. He is very professional. I would recommend him.

I called the service at 10:57pm  Saturday and was told it would be about an hour and the provider was on the way.  I was also told to expect a call.  I called again at 12:28 am on Sunday and was told the same thing.  It was a answering service and I never spoke directly to the provider.
I can only think they would not service my neighborhood since I live in Crown Heights. I still have not had any response from this provider.
