They double-talked me about my four year extended Repairs Contract and did absolutely NOTHING to repair my Home Theatre (all purchased from Best Buy) .

We spent 30 minutes at the Best Buy 23rd Street Manhattan store with the sales person discussing the connection and installation our TV, Blueray, and sound system with a wireless radio frequency universal remote behind cabinet doors, hiding all wiring behind the walls. We chose our remote and services and paid approx. $600 to Best Buy, and set up an appointment for the Geek Squad. Approx. 1 hour before the appointment we received a phone call from the installation crew who said they were on their way but, first, they wanted to know whether we wanted the wires hidden behind the walls since that was going to be an extra charge. When we pointed out that is what we already paid for, they said, sorry, but their instructions were that this would be an extra charge. After fruitless discussion and frustration we agreed to have them install the system but that we would hide the wires behind the walls ourselves. The installers arrived and were very polite and quiet and did their work in under an hour. They were in a hurry to leave since they were afraid of getting a parking ticket. When we asked for instructions on how to use the remote device, one of the crew rattled off a few curt instructions but did not explain any details; they were more interested in leaving. They suggested we visit the web site for the remote manufacturer, which we did later, but found no useful information on how to navigate the system. The system is working after two weeks, but we could have used better, more patient instruction and guidance in how to use the system. We did not appreciate being quoted and paying a price for a set of services only to find out just prior to installation there would be extra charges.

They will answer your questions. They are very good. There are four young kids who work there, and they are all very good at what they do. They are very polite. They know that you don't know anything, and they don't treat you like you're an idiot. I buy a black tie service for $100., which is good for a year. It covers anything you need, any repair, any questions, they will walk you through problems at home, you can bring it in. They do it all. The staff is very friendly, and very knowledgeable. I will continue to use this provider.

The product is good, good quality, and it was exactly the radio that I wanted. The service was good and it did not take long. However, on the bad side: Once it was installed and he said the job was done, I told him that I wanted to check it first before I left the store. I checked the radio. IT was plain and clear that he had not connected the rear speakers to the radio. The sound was coming only from the front or other speakers. When I pointed this out to the guy, he told me that was the way the radio worked (duhhh, am I dumb or something? ) . I insisted this was wrong, and I insisted that someone check this radio and connect the rear speakers to the radio. Once it was checked, they found and fixed the problem. So, if you go in there for car installations and you have no clue, you might get slightly gypped. IF I had not mentioned it or checked it before I left the store--they would have gotten away with improperly installing my radio and I would have paid about 300. to have a radio installed that had only front speakers. I didn't like this service. And their ads say that they have only certified technicians. And this is correct. What they don't tell you is that their certified technicians are working inside the store, and that outside, you just might meet up with someone who does not know how to properly install your car radio. This was years ago, and I'm writing it now because I have recently joined angies' list. And I'm glad to share this experience so that other customers can watch out when they have their radios installed. Once the problem was corrected, I did have this AWESOME radio /cd player. I am very very happy with the product. I was not happy with the installation. It took too long because he had to go back and do more work in order to connect the rear speakers. And I totally resented that he took me for "not knowing" what a car radio is supposed to sound like. When I mentioned about the rear speakers at first, this guy looked at me "as if" I didn't know what I was talking about . And speakers --that's basic knowledge!
Description of Work: I went to Best Buy to buy a radio/cd for my car. I looked through the store (not many salespeople to help; this took time). Finally I found the radio, paid for it and went out side to have it installed . BEST BUY installs their products. All they had to do was take my old radio out and install the new radio. Seemed like a clear cut job. Though I like BEST BUY for products that do not need servicing, I will not go back and have any other auto work done at that place. I recommend BEST BUY for all other products, any electronics, they truly are the best buy, the best products for the money. Yes, even though the installation failed at first, the product itself was perfect and exactly what I paid for.

Do not call them for computer repair. What they do is give you a price and anything else is extra. He did a good job but every additional thing was more money. They weren't very clear with the pricing. When I first called they gave me a general price. The service was pretty good but they didn't tell you what the real cost would be. He seemed personable, knowledgeable and professional. He was a little late but everyone gets a little lost coming here.
Description of Work: The computer had frozen up. I called them and they came out to us. There were two guys there for two hours. He had to work to unfreeze the computer.

I was really pleased with these guys. They worked on the computer and we had it back in what seemed like no time and I was thinking this would be a week or two long job for a computer that was having as many problems as this one was having. They also had completely solved virtually every problem my son had and they took the time when we picked up the computer to tell us some pointers and stuff like that. Plus, my son was relieved because he's in a medical program and so he really can't afford to loose pertinent information. Price-wise, I think we made out pretty well to tell you the truth. From what I hear, these computer companies can charge you a fortunate, especially if you have data you need to get off of a computer and stuff like that. I'd use them again.
Description of Work: I got my son a used computer at the end of last year. Well, the thing was basically turning off while he was using it and it wasn't properly storing information. He thought he had lost some files and information he needed for school, so I took it into the Geek Squad. They got the information he apparently had not lost off the computer, they solved the problems it was having regarding automatically freezing and shutting off and they got the thing functional again.

My daughter had referred me to them and they were great for both of us. They are very fast and are extremely knowledgeable. They did a good job and I would now recommend them to other people. They are professional and reasonable in cost as well.

The men that come out from this Geek Squad are very professional and really help in keeping my computer working well. I am glad I use them and would recommend them to anyone that needs this service as well.

I made an appointment and gave a list of services my computer needed, at an estimated cost of around $1000. The technician never showed. I called an hour after he/she was due, and was told that the appointment had been made for a date three weeks later (WRONG.) They also only had one item on the list of things to be done and it was WRONG. This did not inspire confidence, and I told them to forget it. The next day a representative called and said he had a technician who could come over that day, and that he'd call me right back to let me know the exact time the technician would arrive. I agreed. He never called back.

INITIALLY, BEST BUY TRIED TO REPAIR MY FAULTY MONITOR, BUT AFTER A WEEK, INSTEAD OF THE REPAIR, BEST BUY REPLACED THE MONITOR WITH A REFURBISHED MONITOR. THEIR SERVICE WAS FAIR.
Description of Work: MY COMPUTER MONITOR WASN'T WORKING PROPERLY. THE PICTURE WAS FADING IN AND OUT, AND WOULD TURN ITSELF OFF WITHOUT NOTICE.
