Description of Work: Gaudioso renovated my kitchen and bathroom, including replacing the tub with a shower and building a custom vanity and medicine chest. The foreman and the guys who did the work were very nice and competent and offered good advice on occasion. And a neighbor volunteered how cooperative, clean, and punctual they were (I was staying elsewhere and coming in two or three times a week). They were rushed at the end, and some of the finishing details were less than perfect. I do feel that the custom work got short shrift. I had hired Gaudioso because Anthony said they could build a custom vanity, and I scheduled the construction way in advance. But I never met the cabinetmaker until the penultimate week of construction, which was significantly delayed. I had been warned that everything would be finished except for the vanity/medicine chest, but it was nearly 2 months after I had moved back in that he came back to take final measurements. And he never really discussed with me what I wanted. The cabinet work is well done, though.

Description of Work: The job was the redo of the bathroom - pipes, tile, electricity, lighting, toilet, vanity and taps. Although it took longer than estimated, Nicolas of Gaudioso was always polite and responsive. When items I ordered from Home Depot were not right or delivered broken, he took them back himself. He had great suggestions and my bathroom is great!

Description of Work: Anthony helped us figure out the best way to add a third bathroom in a very tight space. He also introduced us to an architect we eventually used for the job. We met with Anthony to discuss the project. He took time to discuss alternatives and things we should consider. He is very knowledgable, professional, and listened to our priorities. He prepared a detailed proposal that was quite similar to another we received. We went with the other contractor only because Anthony was unable to start our job for three weeks and we felt we needed to start sooner.

 + -1 moreStrongest trade was the plasterer - he did an excellent job repairing walls and ceilings. Painters were mediocre at best. Team was not consistently available to take care of job in a timely fashion. Endless mistakes were made, some could be corrected, others left permanent damage. Examples: 1. new tub was chipped in two places on installation, repairs made; 2. walls in new bathroom not square; 3. crown molding in living room never painted; 4. window sills not painted; 4. painter's tape not used so "cut" lines were crooked requiring many touch-ups; 5. existing bathroom door had to be trimmed and was not taken out to a shop for a table saw to be used, it was "free-handed" on job site, major repairs to door, permanent pock marks in floor where original cut was made. The list goes on.
Description of Work: Repairing plaster walls and ceilings in a pre-war NYC cooperative. Total demolition and renovation of bathroom.

 + -1 moreI am still working on seeing if I can make that renovation happen pretty soon. I just interviewed them. They quoted me about $15000 for the bathroom renovation. I got a good impression. I liked that they showed up. They also showed up on time. They presented themselves well. They seemed to know what they were talking about. They got back to me with the quote pretty promptly. I didn’t have to hunt anybody down. It took a couple of days. I am down to three different contractors and they are one among the three. I need to take up the project again and I kind of left it. They were responsive. They answered all of my questions and they were prompt. They didn’t waste my time. My overall experience with them was good. Their punctuality and professionalism were good too.

He was very honest, upfront, and knowledgeable about what he was doing. I will have him back. I trust him. I know he will do a good job. The thirteen years that I lived, the only contractors I called back was only them. I would use them in the future.

 + 1 moreAn agent for the contractor called us after our initial attempt to reach him. At our invitation, the agent came by the following day, discussed our required work and made some good suggestions that he assured us would not add to the cost. He gave us a preliminary estimate, and then emailed his final proposal that arrived on the date he said it would. It was very close to the initial estimate. He was agreeable when we had to postpone the start of the work. When we were ready to start, he arranged a starting date, and two workmen came to our apartment on that day. The agent said that job would take 3 working days. He started on a Monday and finished the following Monday. One day was lost because plaster wasn't dry enough to paint over. One day was lost because we had to be out of town, We were very pleased with the job they did and we love the improvement in how our kitchen looks. The workmen were professional, they did a good job, and they thoroughly cleaned up the kitchen area at the end of each day.
Description of Work: The services performed included removing the door frame around kitchen opening, breaking down plaster and building blocks to enlarge the opening to the kitchen, re-building and plastering new opening, moving and replacing 6 broken wall tiles, re-grouting countertops, and painting the kitchen walls.

 + -1 moreFor the most part everything went smoothly. They did a great job of demolishing and removing all the debris from the bathroom and apartment. There were some problems with the plumbing supply store that I ordered all the fixtures and marble top for the vanity. The marble top kept arriving cracked, chipped, etc. That went on for 3 weeks. Finally, I ordered the marble from the contractor's person and it came in perfect. However, I'm still waiting on the medicine cabinet from the Park Slope Plumbing Supply. The cabinet wood didn't match the vanity at first, they sent the wrong one, once inn came in damaged. Finally, they went with another company. I'm waiting for the 3rd time for them to come and install it. Every week is another story. This Monday it's supposed to be installed, 7/19. However, the bathroom turned out beautiful and I"m very happy. I highly recommend Gaudioso Contracting. Anthony the owner is very responsive to your needs and tries his best to accommodate you.
Description of Work: complete bathroom renovation and extension of the bathroom about 6/7" and extension of a closet 6/7", removed tub and made a beautiful shower, all tiled to the ceiling and mosaic tile for the shower body with a rain shower and spray, new marble tiled bathroom floor, new marble step, windowsill, and bench in the shower, installed new toilet, vanity, fixtures, painted. Extended the bedroom closet and bathroom wall to match existing beam in the bedroom. Removed flushometer in the bathroom and put in a tank with new toilet.

They guy who did the work was pleasant and obliging; however, the work roof was skimped and I had to spend a good deal of money having someone else rectify it. What had been on the bathroom ceiling was pressed tin but it was rusted so they removed it. I found a plastic replacement that looks like pressed tin but won?t rust. The price was very good for the roof but it was a bit high for the bathroom ceiling.
Description of Work: Gaudioso Contracting did two jobs for me. They did a new roof and they also took down an old tin ceiling in a bathroom and installed a new one for which I supplied the materials.

Someone came initially to do the estimate and it was for painting the bathroom and cleaning out the shower stall and then also an estimate just for the painting. They ended up charging me the higher of the two estimates, but didn't clean out the shower stall. I should have brought that up to them, but I didn't. It was difficult to make an appointment with the painter, but the painting was fine. He prepared the surface, painted and it looks clean and well done. There are no major problems, it was an acceptable paint job. I think they are higher priced than I want to pay, but I don't know what other painters would charge.

 + -1 moreHe was very responsive and we liked him a lot. Unfortunately he has not been able to start the work as he has been trying to get the permission and permits from the board. My daughter was very pleased with him. He was very thorough. He was into what we wanted to do. He gave a lot of suggestions. He was very easy to work with and that?s why we are excited to go with him. Our house is a co-op building so we have to get the permission from co-op board before starting the work. It just takes forever. He has a lot of experience in this field. He was easy to talk to. He seemed very knowledgeable. He did have pictures of a couple of things that he had done. We liked the look of his work and that?s why we picked him. We have had couple of appointments with him and he has always been there on time.

Installed wonder board around tub area, Green board sheetrock (moisture resistant) for ceiling and walls, new tiles and grout on walls, tub/shower area, and floor. Installed custom-made vanity and linen cabinets, sink and marble countertop. Replaced new lighting fixtures and GFI outlet; all new plumbing for toilet, shower, and sink.  + -1 moreThey were on time, finished the job in 3 days, touched up where necessary. They moved everything we asked them to. They were neat, and cleaned up after themselves. They were pleasant to have in the apartment. We were very happy with the job. It was a difficult one, because we used a number of different colors. They guaranteed the work and told us that if we found anything wrong, they would come back. They even helped my husband move the extra paint down to our storage compartment. I would recommend them highly!!
Description of Work: Painted bedroom, hall and foyer, office, kitchen, dining area, and living room. They also painted the canvas ceiling of the den, which had a large water stain. They used several coats and improved it a lot, to the point where we could live with it.
