Gaudioso Contracting

Anthony Gaudioso and his foreman Luis repaired our entire first floor after it was severely damaged from Hurricane Sandy. They were honest, prompt, affordable and always there to address any of our concerns and needs. Gaudioso Contracting was just what we needed to get back on our feet in a very difficult time. i would recommend their services to all.

From the initial consultation to the finished product Gaudioso contracting could not have been more professional. During each step of the process they kept me apprised as to what they were doing; why they were doing it, and how long it would take. They were on the more expensive side of the several quotes I had for the job...but as I reviewed the finished work revealed it was well worth the price and peace of mind. During the course of their initial assessment they also uncovered a problem with the unit above mine and took on that job as well in order to keep one person focused on the problem and resolution. They were usually very prompt and kept the building and hallways clean of debris. Each day upon completion of their work they made sure to vacuum and clean up the space and to leave things as normal as possible. They also made sure to tell me what was left to do and how long it would take to complete. I would absolutely hire them again in the future and give them my highest recommendation.

Mary contacted me from the Gaudioso office within a few days of my requesting an estimate. She arranged for Louis, who was the foreman for the job, to visit us within a few days. He was prompt, courteous and efficient, took the necessary measurements and told us he'd be ready to start when we were ready. A week later he and a workman were in our apartment at 9 AM. They worked quickly, neatly and efficiently and had everything done by mid afternoon. Both the work and the clean-up were performed expeditiously and we were left with a new unit that has been functioning to our expectations. the tiling job was neat and blended in completely with the tile that had been there. It is rare to meet this combination of courtesy, professionalism and promptness. I've already told Mary that for any future jobs we'll be on the phone with Gaudioso.

I had the best experience with Gaudioso Contractors. And I feel so lucky that I chose Anthony to oversee the job. Initially, I had 3 different companies that I'd found on Angie's List (all of them top-rated) come over to look over the old bathrooms and give me a quote. One company I eliminated immediately, due to a very poor first impression. The remaining two companies seemed to be on par as to level of quality and aesthetic. The reason I chose Anthony over the other one is because he came over himself to check out the job, instead of sending a delegate. He understood exactly what I wanted right away, offered his advice on the best way to transform the tub into a more effective tub/shower, for example, and was timely in submitting his quote, which seemed fair when I considered the scope of the work. One bathroom was easier than the other as I made no changes in the placement of sink, shower, toilet, etc. I just wanted everything, from the tile to the toilet to the accessories, to be the best quality available. Still, I think he had to change the pipes as the existing ones were old. And maybe there was some electric work. The second bathroom was more challenging, as we had to change the position of the showerhead, which required building out part of a wall. It was really a small space, but Anthony was able to find a solution that was both aesthetic and practical. I also had an old in-wall hamper replaced with custom wooden shelving. In addition, when the job was over half way done, I'd called to ask if niches could be carved out in both walls so that I could store shampoo bottles, etc. His team was able to accommodate this last-minute request, which was a bigger job than it seemed. I spent most of the renovation period in Europe, as Anthony had reassured me from the beginning that his team could handle the job without my presence. Any issues were discussed promptly via email or phone. Photos were exchanged, as well. In addition, I loved working with Travis, the foreman, and his wonderful team. Travis was not only very friendly and professional, he was able to deal with the incredibly difficult superintendant and a couple members of the board, no small feat believe me! Others might have stormed off in frustration or gotten into no-win situations. Travis' tolerance for big egos was impressive. Anthony provided me a great address in Queens to choose and buy materials... except for the custom-glass work and wood shelving, I found everything I needed there in about 30 minutes, because the staff understood my aesthetic immediately and helped me make the right choices, which I never regretted after. Sometimes, people choose things, only to later wish they had gone with something else. Not me. I am thrilled anew each time I walk into my beautiful new bathrooms. The quality of the work and craftsmenship is a good as it gets. All my houseguests comment on my beautiful bathrooms, and I have been told by a real estate broker/friend that the value of my apartment went up much much more than the price I paid for the bathooms, thanks to a fantastic job. I would hire Anthony again for any kind of contracting that he does.

They did such a good job that I had them do other things for me which were not on the contract. Five guys came to do this and it took about 2 weeks including the extras. They left the area clean, coverd furniture, floors, and moved everything. They were even considerate about my cat. They were personable and I felt comfortable with them in my home. I am going to use them to do my bathroom in next year.

This contractor was fantastic - we couldn't have asked for a more satisfying experience. There was no BS with this man. There was no sales job here - He was business-like and also had the appreciation of our 130 year old building and gave us the comfort level we needed for him to proceed. He came in on budget, his foreman was great, his workers were great and the materials he recommended and that we used are perfect. His suppliers were excellent.He kept the non work areas protected - The finished product looks as if we spent $25,000 more. We plan on renovating our bathroom next year and won't hesitate to ask Anthony and his team to work with us again.

Gaudioso Contracting did an amazing job with the renovation of my kitchen. While I am responsible for million dollar (software and operational) projects for the major company I work for, I really knew very little about doing a project like this. Anthony and his crew were terrific right from the beginning - from helping me decide on the layout, making choices on materials, and advising me on selections where I could save money. As Treasurer on the Board of my Coop, I had to make sure that everything was done very much according to the rules, and Gaudioso Contracting made sure that was the case. The foreman, Luis, was fantastic at keeping everything on track and responding to my many questions! Everyone that has seen my beautiful new kitchen is very impressed. I highly recommend them, and will definitely do the next project with them as well.

Gaudioso Contracting was awesome. I first found them on Angie's List and was impressed by the reviews. Anthony, the owner, came and helped me with renovation. He was very honest and informative through every step of this process. This helped me to make better decisions. I worked closely with Anthony's team, Luis was the foreman. The entire construction team was courteous, professional, and always showed up on time. There was not a time that I visited my apartment during the construction phase and they were not here and working diligently. They followed my instructions to the tee and if i was not happy they worked closely me to ensure I was happy. Luis was always available to answer my questions and resolve any issues I had during the renovation with both what we agreed upon and any additional needs I wanted. Luis often emailed me pictures of the work he was going to do to make sure it was the way I wanted. For example, before my bathroom floor was installed I was emailed two ways the tile could be applied. I was able to choose the best feature that fit my style. Another example of their "going the extra mile" to satisfy their customer was the customization of their camouflaging a metal pipe that ran through my kitchen. The team was able to build a flawless covering that absolutely looks like it was part of the kitchen. This is just a few examples of the ongoing customer care that they provided over a 7 week period. At the conclusion of the project, Luis came back to fix a few minor issues that I discovered after moving in without hesitation (given all the negative stories you hear about contractors, these guys are not one of them. DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT THEM FOR YOUR PROJECT NEEDS YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!) A week after the project I received a call from Anthony who again wanted to ensure I was satisfied. Again I cannot say it enough, they are extremely professional. My cooperative building, which is quite conservative, asked for my contractor's number (to refer their services) as a result of their work ethic and their ability to comply with cooperative building rules. I cannot say enough about this company. When asked about the construction in my apartment and the finished product, I can't rave enough about my positive experience with the work and the people at Gaudioso Contracting. Anthony Gaudioso and crew were really incredible! We were renovating a small, rental apartment that needed everything done to it. Initially we were gun shy from bad experiences with other contractors but from the first meeting, it was obvious that Gaudioso Contracting was different. They were helpful, HONEST, knowledgeable and experienced. They knew that we were very busy so they took care of as much as possible for us. They even worked with the building's management to get the paper work and approval done. Mr. Gaudioso was very easy to communicate with and excellent at working within our budget. Upfront we received a detailed breakdown of the work that was to be done so everything was very clear and there were no surprises. Once work began, Mr. Gaudioso personally updated us on the progress everyday and was easy to reach by phone, email and text. They showed up on time and got the job done in the time frame estimated. We never felt the need to be "checking up". We always felt as though we were in good, competent hands. That alone was priceless. The quality of their work was excellent too! It is a very small apartment and hadn't had work done in a long time. They turned it from a dump into a palace in a relatively short time. It really looks amazing! We have received many compliments on the renovation. Mr. Gaudioso tried to accommodate our busy schedules. Once he knew what we wanted, he expedited things with pre-selections that we could approve or change. They listened to our needs and paid close attention to the details. They worked steadily and thoroughly. They used good quality materials (cabinets, counter, backsplash, tub, vanity, etc), and had great connections for appliances. We feel they provided us with the best possible renovation for our money. They were in full compliance with the requirements of the building and left everythingclean and tidy. They made sure we were completely satisfied before sending the final bill. Gaudioso Contracting turned what is often a dreaded and grueling experience into a relatively pleasant and stress free one. We are extremely satisfied and grateful. We would definitely use them again in the future and highly recommend them to others.

Since some people may not read all the way through review we will start with this. GAUDIOSO IS THE BEST! WE COULDN?T BE HAPPIER WITH OUR CHOICE! After looking through Angie's List, Gaudioso clearly had one of the highest grades/ratings in our area. We spoke with the owner, Anthony, and he assigned our job to one of his construction Managers. The manager did a walk through of the apartment with us and we came to an agreement of the work that needed to be done, quickly (we were very short on time). We told our construction manager our ideal budget and he was honest (Crucially important) that we were going low for the amount of work to be done. The apartment hadn?t been worked on in forty years and it showed! After he patiently explained the details, in a language we could understand, we all agreed to a new budget and the renovations began. Our construction foreman was truly a magician, an amazing contractor and someone you felt comfortable having in your home. Like any client we were supposed to make decisions on hardware, fixtures etc. Our foreman would patiently listen to our (quickly and thus poorly made) choices and kindly let us know when we were making a mistake and would gently lead us in the right direction. We are so glad we listened because everything he helped us with turned out better than we expected. I also want to mention that the whole crew did a great job respecting the numerous rules and regulations of our co-op building. This is our first co-op so we were surprised with some of the various limitations but the crew took everything in stride and it was a job Tremendously-Done! In the future we intend to use Gaudioso Contracting for all of our construction and renovation needs and so should you!!

Was very satisfied with the work. While they did not provide the lowest quote, the price was reasonable. The work was done very well in a timely manner and very professionally. And the administrative support was also very good and nice to deal with. I would highly recommend.

Gaudioso scheduled an appointment for me with Dave Ackerman Monday, May 27. I called the day of the appointment to confirm and he did not have me scheduled. He apologized and rescheduled the appointment and called me on the date he said he would to give me a time. On the day of the appointment we spoke several times because I realized I would be leaving work later than I expected and I did not want to intrude on his time but he accommodated me and eventyally we met at my apartment. Mr. Ackerman was very knowledgeable and professional during our meeting. He complimented me on giving him a Scope of Work for exactly what I want done so he did not have to ask me a litany of questions regarding the renovation. I appreciated his enlightening me about the gas line I want moved because the other contractors I met with did not bring up this problem when I brought up moving the gas line with them. Mr. Ackerman sent me a proposal within a week as he promised. As of this writing I have not finished interviweing contractors.

I apologize for this much-delayed review of a remarkable complex home renovation. Anthony Gaudioso gave the most reasonable estimate among several contractors for a major home renovation project. His recommendations reflect great wisdom, understanding, and genuine care for his customers' needs. For example, when I told him I needed a heavy duty floor that can withstand heavy traffic for many years, he suggested porcelain tiles which I've never heard of before. Now, my entire house has porcelain tiles which are very strong and beautiful. All our friends and relatives are amazed at how easy they are to clean and how unique they look. He assigned a very able and knowledgeable foreman, Luis, to oversee the entire job. The workers were all hardworking, very pleasant, and eager to please. The entire crew was highly skilled in their respective jobs - from demolition of walls and floors, carpentry, plastering, plumbing, painting, electrical work, installation of fixtures and appliances, installation of bathtub, toilets, sinks, new kitchen, new windows and doors, floor and wall tiles, etc. They encountered major plumbing and drainage problems which they skillfully corrected. I also had a water leak into my basement causing mold to develop in one closet. They corrected the problem by digging outside up to the foundation and placing concrete in front of my house to prevent any recurrent water seepage. They also converted my open porch to a beautiful enclosed porch which has become our mudroom during the winter and rainy seasons. All the details were done to my complete satisfaction. My entire family is very happy with our new home. My husband and I are very happy that we now have a home that is ready to serve us through our retirement years. The entire job took about 5 months to complete. We did choose and purchase our own tiles, appliances, and fixtures, which I believe is a great idea, since the owner knows best what he wants and what he can afford. This past month, I hired this contractor again to assemble an 8 x 11 storage shed in my backyard, to assemble a 16-ft freestanding Sunsetter awning, fix a defect on my kitchen back doorstep, check a possible leak in my roof, and install a new light source with switch in my backyard. Luis carefully checked the roof, the attic, and found no defect. All this work was completed to perfection in less than two days!

Anthony was very professional. He had a good sense of what we needed and made good suggestions. We did not elect him for this job but would definitely consider him for future jobs.

This was a quality job working with good and knowledgeable people. I feel fortunate to have had such a positive experience with a contractor. Without question I'd use Gaudioso Contracting again and recommend them for any project. Thank you Anthony.

Job was started promptly when promised. The only down time was waiting for the cutting of the countertops. All was completed to our satisfaction.

Anthony Gaudioso was very professional and responsive to all my questions and concerns. He listened attentively and tried to provide alternatives that were within the parameters I outlined. However, at the end of the day, I made a value judgement regarding how much money I want to spend on improving my bedroom and almost $10,000 is way too much at this point in time. I think Anthony presents himself and his business very well; he is responsive, a good listener, appears knowledgeable about working with co-op boards and guidelines as well as the city's building department requirements. If my budget allowed, I would definitely consider working with this company. I was left with the feeling that every detail would be addressed (creatively and administratively) and the result would be a superior quality product.

THe most expensive bid I received so far.

Excellent contractor. Anthony, Travis, and Stephanie were all professional, efficient, and a joy to work with. They did the work on time, communicated well about the project, and were honest and respectful during the entire process. Stephanie was completely organized when dealing with the co-op board approval process. She had a wonderful manner and returned emails and phone calls in a timely fashion. Anthony was trustworthy, straightforward, and friendly. Travis was an incredibly hard worker and a kind and delightful person to have around. And they all went out of their way to help me find creative solutions. The workmanship is visibly high quality. The estimate was right on target. They did great work and were fair and transparent about the cost. I would definitely give an A+ to all three of them. I would recommend Gaudioso Contracting without hesitation.

Louis was the foreman, and he was responsive to me at every turn. The plasters - the wet wall is a course of brick and plaster and main bearing wall of the house - were terrific. I cannot even tell the difference between new wallboard and plaster. I wanted to save a bit of money and ensure the walls were brush painted - I said I was fussy? - so they prepared the walls perfectly - skimcoating several times and priming. When we discovered that the drains under the floor were not put in to code, and would cause backup in the toilet, they changed those at cost. The coop I belong to had to delay the work while they agreed, but Anthony and Louis were flexible.

Dave was the contractor sent out to assess the job. He was prompt and very professional. Exceeded expectations based upon prior experience. Turn around time for contract was fast. He was also prompt in responding to requests for documentation from coop board. Luis was the head painter and was also knowledgable about his craft. He was also responsive; came on time for his first meeting. Gave accurate timeline for work. The plaster repairs and paint job was well done. They were neat and cleaned up each day after work. Luis also arranged for the window expert to meet with me to discuss that aspect of the job. The outcome of the job is excellent. The price was higher than other contractors, but they were more professional in their approach; you get what you pay for. I would highly recommend Gaudioso contractors and would use them in the future.

Anthony was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. He presented suggestions where appropriate but also respected our preferences. We would have gone forward with him but are delaying the work until we return from leave.

I wanted to get 3 sides of the house painted and they lumped in so many items in the contreact that did not peertaine to my needs and then they would not get spesific with my situation re the contract. they just seem to have a blanket contract that everyone geets that in there minds covers everything for everyone. Not a good wxperiance. Would never call them again.

Used another contractor, but this firm was in the top three.

I worked with Travis Grega, who I believe must be a foreman for Anthony Gaudioso. Travis took care of the entire job from general estimate to completing the project. Absolute A+ job. Travis was personable, professional, and understood I was dealing with a really limited budget. Always showed up on time, got work done ahead of schedule with his co-worker, paid attention to detail, went above and beyond what I asked for - found cabinetry, kitchen fixtures etc that were budget-conscious but looked great. When it looked like I wasn't going to be able to get everything done that I had hoped within my budget constraints, he was more than willing to find creative solutions and meet me half-way. I was also kept informed every step of the way, including a heads up when it looked like extra work might have to be done that was unexpected (not surprising for a gut reno in a pre-war NYC apartment). Left the project site in clean order after completion. He was flexible with timing - I believe my project was definitely much smaller budget-wise than what Gaudioso deals with, but Travis went ahead and accomodated my time schedule inbetween much larger projects for his company, and treated my project seriously regardless of how small the job was. The backoffice was also personable and extremely easy to deal with, paperwork for my co-op was taken care of with no delay or red tape. Did an absolutely beautiful job. Really, I cannot recommend him any higher. When I have enough money saved I will be contacting Gaudioso and requesting Travis for a full gut-reno of my bathroom.
