These guys worked very hard during the Sandy crisis working even on the weekends to get my electrical and heating services back up and running. During the Sandy recovery period, contractors where in high demand and hard to get. However, when I signed up with this contractor, his men were very responsive with there work activities and kept me informed of all phases as the work progressed. In 2013, based on my good experience, I had them complete a full basement and first floor restore at my father house while he was away in a nearby nursing home. A very professional and reasonably priced contractor. Mr. Gaudioso's cost estimates are accurate and don't change much from the beginning to the end of the job. I would definitely recommend Gaudioso Contracting for any home repair or remodeling project!
Description of Work: Pumping out of sea water, demolition of basement and mold prevention treatment after Sandy super storm flooding. Afterwards I had Gaudioso Contracting installed a new water heater, boiler, restored my electrical services and sheet rock and painting service in my basement.

My wife and I hired Gaudioso Contracting In the middle of October, to update our second floor master bathroom. We own an attached, 1936, Tudor-style home. The bathroom was from the original construction and was in dire need of renovation?the catalyst being a leaky shower that damaged the kitchen ceiling below. After about a year of research, dozens of sketches, and more than a few interviews with potential contractors, we finally hired Anthony to bring our vision to life. Anthony?s foreman, Luis would ultimately handle the job. Luis and his team did an outstanding job and were very pleasant to work with. They were punctual, polite, and hard working. Although, not always on site, Luis was only a phone call away, and was always able to address any questions or concerns. The job was extensive. It took 2 months, from demolition to final touches?like installing the thermostat for the radiant floor heating. The bathroom was a full gut renovation down to the studs. We went with Travertine tiling from the floor to the ceiling, a double vanity, a separate shower with glass door, a freestanding soak tub, and additional outlets. We also installed an exhaust fan, something sorely missing from our original bathroom. We added recessed lights, vanity lights and a chandelier. We installed built-in cubbies in the shower and bath areas. We built a custom linen closet with mirrored doors, and installed new entry doors and molding. We replaced our old antique wood window with a new fiberglass casement window and refurbished the framing on our stained glass, decorative window. We were very happy that we got to keep that. We thought it was a lost cause. In our kitchen, we reset some loose tiles and repaired the ceiling, which had been damaged by the leaky shower. I did have a few issues. One of them was that some mortar adhesive had dried on the surface of the floor tiles, which made it look rough and stained. Anthony, and Luis worked with me to resolve the problems, which I truly appreciate. My wife and I are in love with the new bathroom!

A shout out to Anthony Gaudioso for running a tight ship; to Mary in the office for her friendly professionalism; to our Foreman Nicholas and his right-hand man, Juan. Our kitchen is STUNNING. Stunning. Gaudioso Contracting was professional from the get-go: prompt and courteous return calls; prompt arrival for appointments (or phone calls if delayed for some reason); understanding and responsive to any issues or concerns. All of the workers were top notch. This was a big job (at least for us) - a compete gut of our 17' x 10.5' kitchen and reversal/relocation of water and gas lines. We tried desperately to fit a bathroom on the main floor of our 1910 house but, try as Anthony might (he even sent his architect to survey on his dime), it just couldn't happen. That's okay -- we love it anyway! The workers were courteous, neat and very competent. Nothing was left a mess; debris was stacked neatly in our driveway until there was enough for pick-up. Nicholas, our Foreman, was wonderful. His right hand man, Juan, is creative and meticulous. Juan devised and built custom touches, such as the faux soffit above our fridge and pantry area and the framing in the cut out to our dining room. As with any project, there were one or two problems beyond Gaudioso's control that were handled seamlessly and diligently, and they ensured our satisfaction at no additional cost to us. Any time we called with concerns or issues, the refrain was always "we'll take care of it and get back to you" -- any they did. The electricians and plumbers they utilized were knowledgeable, courteous and professional. In our circle of friends and family, we have had, hands-down, the best experience of any of them, and we're already thinking ahead to the next project we want Gaudioso to do -- finishing our basement. It gives us great pleasure to be able to say we love our contractor!
Description of Work: Kitchen renovation - full gut; reverse water and gas; seal up/create new windows; hot-water radiant heat floor; all cabinet and molding installation; backsplash; cut-out from kitchen to dining room; painting; lighting; appliance installation; new furnace and heating zones.

Anthony Gaudioso was super professional from our first meeting onwards. We got him through a friend who used Anthony's company to remodel her entire apartment. At our first meeting, Anthony showed up ahead of time. He was quick and precise in his assessment of what we wanted - and he also had great suggestions. As the work began, our point of contact shifted to one of his project managers, Travis Grega. Travis was fantastic. He remembered everything, was always available, came time and time again to check on things. His workers were very good, professional, polite and observed all the building's rules. Gaudioso was on time and on budget (the project took a little more $$ and time in the end because we added some things that weren't originally planned). I already recommended Gaudioso Contracting to my friend who just bought a house in NJ and is looking to renovate.
Description of Work: built a large entrance closet, gutted and renovated 2 bathrooms (which included converting a bathroom with a tub to a shower), painted 4 rooms, sanded floor, installed an AC units, redid kitchen cabinets.

There seems to be communication issues with this company. From the start I had difficulty getting in contact with Anthony for a job estimate. When he did arrive at house for an estimate we were very impressed and were looking forward to the start of the project. With the potential start date of late October/early November I started packing up household items and prepared a POD rental for storage during the construction. I spoke with Anthony on Tuesday Sept 22 , I was told he was calling cabinet maker tomorrow and would call me back. I am still waiting for my call to be returned. I guess Gaudioso Contracting will NOT be building my dream kitchen...

Response from Gaudioso Contracting
We can't speak for other contractors but, it is not customary for us to schedule jobs on [Member Name Removed] verbal go ahead. We did not have [Member Name Removed] signed contract nor [Member Name Removed] deposit. Even though, we discussed with the client what needed to be done. We called her [Member Name Removed] week 1/2 later to see if she wanted to make an appointment to take measurements, set [Member Name Removed] date, make [Member Name Removed] deposit and to apologize for getting back late due to [Member Name Removed] sudden death of [Member Name Removed] close family member of the owner. Yes folks, life or the lack thereof happens to us as well and we apologize for any inconvenience we made the client suffer. As she stated, she wanted to start at the end of Oct./beginning of Nov. , we had more than enough time to accommodate her wishes. She barely allowed the owner to say hello before she hung up on him.

After clearing all the details with Anthony's office, work was scheduled for 9/11/15. At first it was going to be postponed until Sept. 23, but I was not able to make the change in date because of other scheduled commitments. To accommodate me, the date was kept for 9/11/15. Work began about 10:30 a.m. with two workers. After making purchases at Home Depot, the work began. The two men took a half/hour break for lunch; then continued on until about 5:00, finishing all the work. The quality of the work is excellent. Both men were very courteous and pleasant. They took all the old parts with them and left everything very clean. I would recommend them to anyone who is seeking a good company. Written by Rose

I bought the house and did renovations before moving in. The work took about 4.5 months. This was a 203K loan project, so the GC also worked with me on the inspections and paperwork required to release funds. Anthony knows his business. He hires good crews and good subs. His bid was accurate and he knew how to deal with the permitting process. He also introduced me to the architect - who is both good at her job and lovely to work with. My on site project manager runs a very good remodel crew. They do quality work and clean the place up very well at the end of the day. My project manager and I communicated very well - he responded to both text and phone calls. He also coordinated the specialty subs - electrical and plumbing. The office staff handled the crazy 203K paperwork beautifully. Since I spent a fair amount of time on the phone with them, it also helps that they are friendly as well. Not only were Anthony's employees lovely to work with, but his subs were as well. During my standard 3 bid process, his subs were consistently thoughtful and non-condescending. This was one of the key selling points for me (one not shared by the other GCs who bid on this job) that encouraged me to believe that they would be able to work with me as the home owner.
Description of Work: Full renovation for 2 story town home including new pipes throughout (to replace the stolen ones), new electrical service (upgraded to 200 amps), roofing, and interior wall changes to create functional sized bathrooms. Skiimmed original walls, exposed 2 fireplaces, removed a partition wall, replaced damaged beams, installed 2 new kitchens, 2 new baths, new floors throughout, new doors, new fixtures and paint.

Anthony is professional, detail-oriented, punctual, and fair. When I said I wanted baseboard molding, he suggested I check the Home Depot site and advised me where not to look, as opposed to other contractors who either wanted to choose the molding themselves or suggested a the very website that Anthony had advised against which would have cost me 4 times what I paid for an excellent product at Home Depot. He and Luis, his foreman on this job, were easy to reach when I had questions or concerns, and the crew was meticulous. Anthony listened carefully to what I wanted and did not attempt to sell me on "upgrades" or "bells and whistles" and my experience was that of a straightforward and totally satisfactory contract with an honest man for honest work. I recommend Gaudioso Contracting whole-heartedly and without reservation.

We were extremely impressed with Gaudioso Contracting. They were the only company we spoke with who understood we were looking for a partial bathroom renovation with a quick turnaround, and their quote was by far the most competitive of the five quotes we received. We were very impressed with the quality of work, and they did a great job in a small space. The tile in particular was extremely well done, and the attention to detail was far beyond what we were expecting. Thanks to the foreman (Luis) and everyone else who worked on the project. We have recommended Gaudioso to others and would not hesitate to hire them again in the future.

From the initial visit to determine scope of work, to the completion this contractor and his crew were on point. They were always reachable, and never hesitated to call me if there was a question about some aspect of the work that affected the contract proposal. The most important aspect of my experience was that they stayed on schedule, were reachable if I had a question. They followed the management guidelines to the letter and everyone who visits comments on the quality of their workmanship.

I was incredibly pleased with the quality of work and the attention to detail. This is a 100-year old apt that hadn't had a major overhaul in many years. Anthony's walk-through with me before the project started -- as he was developing his bid -- was detailed -- he anticipated issues that I hadn't foreseen (which appeared, of course, when the kitchen and bathroom walls were torn down to the studs and the linoleum tiles were lifted) and he anticipated a variety of appropriate solutions for me to consider. Basically, he assured that there were few surprises during this timeline of this project. I could walk you through the details of the project, but to be honest, the most important thing to share are the fact that the project team -- and a special shout out to Nicolas, the foreman -- were a real team whose goal was to put together a high quality project that everyone was proud of. They cleaned up after themselves every evening -- I was not living in the apt for the bulk of the time they were working on it but I knew that whenever I came in to see it, the apt was clean and well-secured and there was progress to be seen. The workers were friendly and courteous as well. Any questions I had were quickly answered by Anthony (Gaudioso), Mary (in the office), or Nicoloas and they worked together to make sure that even the smallest of details were attended to quickly. They made excellent suggestions, followed through on my decisions quickly, and the apt looks fabulous. Two things to know: First, he anticipated a 12-week turnaround; it took 16-weeks. In the grand scheme of things, this was not an issue. Having worked previously with contractors, I understood that he was suggesting a "best guess" and I thought the additional 4 weeks was well within the reasonable. Second, this was not the lowest bid (nor was it the highest). However, when reviewing the bids, I felt it was the most detailed and the most clear. In other words, it appeared to be the most honest. Am I happy with their work? No question. This turned out even better than I expected. Would I hire them again? In a heartbeat! Have I recommended them to friends? Yes!

I Contacted Gaudioso Contracting on or about June 2nd 2015. The next day I heard from the secretary who took my information and said Anthony would be in touch with me within 24hrs. Well today is June 11th and I have not heard back from anyone in regards to giving me an estimate for a complete bathroom demolition and remodel. This company is very unprofessional and my trust in them obviously is non-existent. Use them at your own risk.

We apologize for the delay in calling the client. During call-backs the potential client may take 15 minutes to 30 minutes speaking with the estimator. However, upon calling the client we addressed ourselves and he hung up on us. Which tells us he was not serious from the beginning. Fortunately, we are very busy for a reason. The fact is: our calls triple during the summer months. If anyone gives us a call please allow us some time to call back. We will. We apologize in advance for any delays in call backs. For all who exercise understanding...Thank you very much.

We were very impressed from the very first meeting with Anthony (the owner) -- got the sense he really knew what he was doing and had a great feeling of confidence right from the start. This job had a hard deadline and all work was completed on time and on-budget. Anthony and all the staff were a true pleasure to work with -- everyone was super responsive, courteous and willing to go the extra mile. The foreman was always accessible, really ran a tight ship, and was very meticulous. All the work was impeccable -- we were very pleased with the results; as close to flawless as it gets. There were just a couple problems (some issues with wiring early in the job and an issue with the doors later in the job) but these were resolved with no hassle whatsoever. In short -- what could have been a nightmare scenario given our tight deadline turned out to be a smooth and enjoyable experience, with gorgeous results. We wholeheartedly recommend Gaudioso Contracting.

I joined Angie?s List to find a contractor to totally renovate a small studio kitchen in my New York apartment and chose Gaudioso Contracting based on their reviews on Angie?s List and after looking at their website. And I consider myself very lucky in having decided on them as the experience and the results are fantastic. They finished the work last week and there is not one negative word I could say about them?.only superlatives. The finished kitchen is absolutely beautiful and the workmanship is perfection. The three people Idealt with ? Anthony, the owner ? Luis, the project manager ? and Mary, the office manager ? were all GREAT!!! Cordial, professional and friendly, they handled every question or request with speed and consideration. Their pricing was very fair and came in right at the proposed estimate with the exception of an electrical upgrade that was necessary and couldn?t have been foreseen nor was their fault. I know that my tiny kitchen project won?t represent a large percentage of their yearly gross, but they treated it as if it were a total apartment renovation on Park Avenue. I cannot recommend them any higher ? they were simply THE BEST.

I tried several times to get a reliable and professional contractor to get my new cabinets installed and few other items done in the kitchen. All of which failed miserably. Anthony Gaudioso however is extremely professional, he and his staff followed up and were very courteous, patient and accommodating. My apartment kitchen is small but I received the customer service and treatment of someone living in a grand home. I am extremely happy with the work that was done and I highly recommend Anthony Gaudioso. I will definitely use his services again for a few future projects I have in mind. Great Job!

The job was completed in the estimated time. Anthony and his staff were easy to deal with and very accommodating of additional requests throughout. The staff were neat and respectful. I had a new kitchen installed. It is stunning. No detail was overlooked. My hardwood floors were sanded, stained and polyurethaned. They came out beautifully! Like new. New crown molding and baseboards were installed. Each cut and matched to perfection. I can't believe the craftsmanship of Anthony'a team. I also had California closets and they came out exactly as I wanted. I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Gaudioso performed a gut renovation of my kitchen, refurbished hard wood floors and installed new baseboards, installed new crown molding in living room, dining room and bedroom, installed new California closets, and painted entire one bedroom apartment. The result is EXCEPTIONAL. Anthony came in at the beginning of the job to discuss options. He then met again with me to introduce the job's foreman, Travis. Anthony said he was giving me his best man and he did. Travis oversaw all the details and was available throughout the job.

In a word: great! As a church, we operate under very constrained and defined financial margins. There is not money for excess or waste. The apartment we asked Anthony Gaudioso to bid on was in bad shape. It had been occupied by the same person for nearly two decades with no improvements. Parts of the parquet floor had failed; the kitchen was 40 years old; pipes in the bathroom were leaking. Nothing had been 'fixed' in the space for many years and it was literally unlivable. This is not an exaggeration. As chair of the church's property committee, we had a big and potentially expensive job ahead to get the space ready for occupation. We began interviewing contractors over the summer. A few weeks later we had proposals from five. It was clear from the moment of meeting Anthony Gaudioso he was the person we wanted to go with. He is extremely likable and prompt. He carefully walked through he apartment noting what needed to be done. Most importantly, he listened and understood it would be a big job and that there could be no 'surprises' or over-runs at the job's completion. A few weeks later, the Property Committee reviewed all the proposed bids. There were lots of questions to all the potential contractors. Only Anthony Gaudioso would return calls promptly with full answers to the committee's questions. It was clear who wanted the job -- and it was clear to us Anthony would be the best person to work with. This was an important part of the process as (speaking personally) in the past I have been impressed with the presentation of the contractor only to be burned with a failure to follow-up. This is not the case here. Anthony is not a 'smooth' operator. If he can do it, he'll say he can. If not, he'll tell you that too. He is the proverbial "straight shooter." We chose Anthony Gaudioso to gut and renovate the church apartment because his bid was detailed, accurate and priced competitively. The renovation started in early November, 2014. The apartment is located on the Fifth (top) floor of the church's Parish House. There is another occupied apartment directly below the space. Throughout the process Anthony and his professional crew of craftsmen worked with the church staff to keep noise, dust and problems to a minimum. I'm not exaggerating when I say this was a easy to manage project. Anthony's craftsmen showed up every day, did their work, cleaned-up daily, and went home. Everything was always smooth. The project was managed by a foreman who was on site and ready to answer questions we had -- at any time. And Anthony and his staff (especially Mary at the Office) were always ready to answer questions or get an answer. Calls were always returned promptly. This was critical because we were volunteers (church members) managing this project. This could have easily spun out of control if someone was negligent or untrustworthy. It never did. Anthony and his crew were terrific throughout. There was one problem. It was discovered upon there delivery that the new kitchen doors did not all match (different hue of white). This was not a problem for Anthony or Mary. When alerted to the problem, they solved it -- immediately. There was never any cutting corners. It was all about making sure 'we' (the Property Committee) were happy. If choices needed to be made (faucet styles, etc), I would simply get a call alerting me and would be asked what we preferred. I was always given the option to choose. Although presented with a tight budget from the start, Gaudioso Contracting never imposed 'contractor grade' materials. Everything was QUALITY. The renovation from start to finish took approximately three months. Workers were on site every day. It was always kept clean and orderly. In the end, we were presented with a magnificently renovated space. Gorgeous, in fact. There were never problems. Craftsmanship was terrific. Materials top notch. We as a Property Committee, and as a congregation, could not be more happy. I highly recommend Gaudioso Contracting for your renovation project. You will not be disappointed.

This is my second renovation with Gaudioso contracting. He did a complete kitchen renovation about 3 years and I chose him after extensive research and interviews. As I was totally happy with his work I chose him again to do this renovation. The team is even better than several years ago. They are completely and quickly responsive to my needs and questions. The workers are top notch courteous, clean, and skilled. The work went very smoothly and quickly with a minimum of disruption and stress. I am extremely happy with the finished product. Gaudioso Contracting also has a handyman service for small jobs which I have used. I find all my experiences with Anthony and his team to be terrific and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

I wouldn't hire Anthony Gaudioso. He visited my new place and produced an estimate for construction. While I appreciated his detailed estimate, he didn't listen to me and my needs, He tried to come up with a lot of extra work in the bathroom, and when I balked, he told me it was for my own good. I ran the ideas by my super and the building's manager, both of whom disagreed. So I tried to negotiate with Anthony, thinking I could simply remove some or all of the unneeded items, but he wouldn't budge. When I mentioned that his overall costs were also a factor, he offered a payment plan but then started to add new ideas to the project, again demonstrating that he wasn't wiling to listen. I also felt like he was a bit manipulative, trying to scare me about the construction process and away from other contractors. Ultimately, I believed he might be able to do a good job--that is, if the reviews on Angie's List are accurate--but in the end I wouldn't end up with what I wanted for my apartment. Fixing up an apartment costs a lot of money, and I want it to reflect my desires.

Response from Gaudioso Contracting
[member name removed] called me to renovate his kitchen, bathroom, skim coat, doors, walls, etc. The kitchen and bathroom needed to be gutted. He asked to me to make some short cuts, one of them to shave down the bathroom tiles and put new tiles over them. I did not tell him to do any extra work. On the contrary, I told him what needed to be done for the job to be done properly. No "extras" as he called it were discussed. I cannot in good conscience do a job 50% correct (then it isn't correct, right?) when I am accustomed to doing a job 100% correct. Yes, it was for his own good. The work he was asking me to do would have cost him more in money as well as aggravation as time went on. Money was an issue, I suggested that he do the kitchen or the bathroom, not both at the same time. That was unacceptable. I then offered him a payment plan...unacceptable as well. He was very disappointed when I didn't tell him what he wanted to hear. I told him the truth which he misconstrued as intimidation. Intimidation and/or manipulation is never my intention nor did I ever resort to. The truth is not manipulation. It is what it is. Let me say that he did feel comfortable with me enough to call me a 2nd time. The only way that I could guarantee any renovation is to do it properly or not at all. I am not accustomed to shooting myself in the foot. I will not jeopardize my livelihood, family, reputation, crews & their families. [memer name removed] super & management company are not licensed & fully insured contractors who take pride and have passion for their contracting business (which is something they don't have) they lack the knowledge necessary for long lasting results. There are times that short cuts can be made that do not compromise greatly the quality of the work. But, what he wanted...no. I'm not sorry that my experience and knowledge protect my clients and/or potential clients...no

Initially met with three highly rated contractors from Angie's list and found the selection process difficult: all had excellent experience and pleasing manners. Was a nervous wreck about the renovation--am retired and had no experience with such a process--so needed someone that inspired both confidence and trust. That person was Anthony Gaudioso. On his first visit to my apartment, Anthony listened to my plans, offered useful advice and made a number of suggestions re the renovation. Additionally, when I asked all three contractors to provide a proposal for the desired work, Anthony was the first to respond to my request and provided the most complete work plan including a detailed payment schedule and performance measures. From beginning to end, my experience with Gaudioso Contracting was positive. Anthony was readily accessible throughout the course of the project, Stephanie was unfailingly polite and supportive and did a great job of handling my condo's onerous paperwork requirements, Travis was a wonderful foreman and all the workers I met (Garcia, Alfred and Jorge) were polite, dedicated, skilled and reflected Gaudioso's commitment to customer service. As a foreman, Travis was a gem. He is an excellent manager: smart, conscientious, has good judgment, is knowledgeable about his craft and has superb interpersonal skills. He smoothly handled a very nervous client--me, a demanding building staff and potentially uncooperative neighbors. To my great relief, he made himself available to answer my numerous questions and to review the appropriateness of my purchases eg lighting fixtures and appliances. He also made certain that all the work was done the way I wanted. For example, he showed me different patterns for laying tile and had me select the pattern I wanted in the kitchen and bathroom. Gaudioso Contracting did a fine job renovating my kitchen and bathroom. I would definitely hire them again or refer them to family or friends in need of a contractor.
Description of Work: Complete renovation of kitchen and bathroom. Contractor repaired damage to the bathroom and kitchen caused by overflowing tub in the condo above mine. Both rooms were then completely remodeled. Everything in the kitchen and bathroom was removed and replaced. All new flooring, walls and ceiling, new plumbing including walk-in shower, and electrical system upgraded.

This is the the third (and largest) project Gaudioso Contracting has completed for me. I am completely satisfied with their work and the overall experience. Anthony and Stephanie Gaudioso are a pleasure to do business with. Anthony is honest, forthright and, in my opinion, runs his business with integrity. Big picture: Building was built in 1925 so I was retrofitting an apartment that has limits. We discovered a subfloor that required unexpected solutions, we had several iterations of plans to find a venting solution for a W/D and Range hood. In addition, I did not have an interior designer so all decisions (and the learning process involved) were made by me, and sometimes I held up the process. The combination of these things did push the schedule out by 1/3, but this was not due to any lack of diligence on the part of Gaudioso. Travis Grega was the foreman on my job and I can't recommend him highly enough. He is knowledgable, but more importantly he is detail oriented, careful and dedicated to quality work. He problem solves and communicates extremely well, is patient and adds his own creative suggestions if he thinks they will get you what you want. I'm a bit of a stickler for the details and though that can slow things down, either because I don't like my own decision and want to backtrack (perhaps a contractor's nightmare) or I want something just a little more perfect than it is, Travis and his team were always willing to review the issue and do what they could. There is compromise throughout a process like this and I feel that the compromises I made were never due to the contractor refusing to meet my requests. The final review is the friends and family. Everyone of them was extremely impressed with the quality of the work. I recommend Gaudioso Contracting and Travis without hesitation.
Description of Work: Full gut renovation of 1100 sf apartment. New floors with sound proofing, new bathrooms (plumbing only back to the risers), new kitchen (with venting solutions for W/D and Range hood), strip and skim coat walls, custom cabinets and closets, all new molding and trim on doors and windows, painting.
