I called for an estimate and the owner came . He gave me an estimate on furniture that had to be refinished. I had not moved back in to my home as of yet. This was in January.I moved back in Sept. In the the spring I called him that I was ready. He had to find the scrap paper that he had written on. I had a copy. He called me back. I agreed to do 3 pieces rather than 5.The other two were not worth to do.Beause they would be covered with a table cloth anyway. He sent two men and they took the two items. Those were to be refinished in the factory. We are talking about very expensive quality furniture, I was told that before the stain would be applied I would go to the factory and chose. A service man came to my home and worked on the very big antique breakfront. He told me not to close the drawers for three days. As I was not living in my home I came back and covered the item. Awhile later I get a call later that they are going to deliver the other two pieces. I asked why wasn't I able to choose the stain. No anwer. I just said deliver. Two men came and brought the furniture. I looked at the out side . Paid them by check the balance. I covered the pieces. The end of August we started to empty the storage unit of dishes etc. When we started we saw that a lock was not put in place in one piece and the fabric drawers of the other looked rat eaten. The piece that had remained in the house was not finished. When the glass doors were opened we saw that the inside were not finished and the back walls of the unit were slopped on. I called the owner and he said that he did the work last winter why am I calling now. I said you did the work in May. My cancelled checks prove it. I wanted him to come and look. He got nasty. But after weeks he came and he saw what had to be done. After almost two weeks (We mostly texted.) He rarely answered his phone. He did not want to do the work. So I said I am available Thurs . Friday or Monday. He was abusive again. I did not hear from him. I was ready to write you and the consumers fraud .I called someone again who knows him and told him of my problem . The next day I get a text "Sunday 8:30 -9" I answered yes. This was the same person that was able to get him to come and look at the furniture. Sunday his worker came and could not believe the work. Over and over he kept asking me If the company did this? He could not believe the way the pieces were not finished. He worked 3 hours. Some things were not rectified . What hurt me the most was the owners conduct. As I am a senior citizen I have seen we as a group are being taken advantage of and intimidated. The work men were nice .

I had water damage, and they came. The piece of furniture had a quarter of an inch of veneer that came off. The item is worth $100,000. I told them that I wanted them to make it as if the damage had never happened. He assured me that that would be the case. He did the work, and it looks as if the damage had never happened. I was pleased with their work. Miguel Riera was the employee that did the work. He did work like a professional artist.
Description of Work: They repaired a piece of furniture that had had a quarter of an inch of veneer come off with water damage.

Mr. Katz came when he said he would, gave an estimate. Work was very nicely done but took more time than expected. When I called him, he would call back. He was reliable and honest and when something needed to be done to modify the leaves, he sent someone to do it. He delivered it back to me in Brooklyn and I then arranged for delivery to Manhattan, don't know about other boroughs.
Description of Work: Refinished and repaired a mahogany dining room table from the 1930's and fabricated new leaves from plywood.
