Equator Heating & Cooling Inc

After having consulted with many plumbers and so called specialist we decided to go with Equator Heating and Cooling Corp. Dean our contact was very trustworthy and have been through out the entire process. Getting prices and informations on different systems took a little while and when we finally landed on the perfect setup I was very excited to get started. We went with the Navien CH210 with out door reset. A super high efficiency combi boiler. Setting up times and having the guys work in the house were a pleasure. Very nice crew. I would give Equator Heating and Colling Corp an A+ for the people. The problem started with the work. When I first saw the installation the pipes were build up like a Christmas tree, nothing like you would expect from a 2014 installer. Dean came back and addressed some of the concerns without any problems. But now this is where the problems started. We had a nightly flooding, problems with getting the thermostats and the units to work together. The outdoor reset was never enabled and I had by now gotten the inkling that maybe Equator Heating and Cooling did not have the required knowledge to actually make the modern system we have paid (well for $18,500) actually up and running to satisfactory standards. It was simply to much of an ask. We decided to have a Navien certified specialist come out and have a look at the installation. That was NOT a pleasure. He had several comments. Gas pipes were leaking. The unit was installed in a way that would make it burn out in 2-3 years. The gas piping etc was following the standards given by Navien. So in due diligence we called Navien ourselves to ensure that the technician was not just trying to get more money out of us, but they fully agreed with the technicians assessment. We have now been writing Dean to see if we could work something out, but we have heard nothing back. Sad. We are now going to spend an additional $6,000 have all the mistakes corrected. The messy plumbing we will have to live with. So to summerize Equator Heating and Cooling Corp, very nice people. Unfortunatly that is not enough, the craftsman standards and knowledge and expertise in modern system is not sufficient. Be careful.

I would highly recommend you find someone else. Equator Cooling and Heating gave me a quote, they promised they would show up at 830 am on Saturday morning. Not one person showed and there was no phone call at all. I called them repeatedly over the weekend as they indicated they are open only to have no one call me back. On Monday, I finally got a hold of someone and their excuse was sorry, the guy that was supposed to do the job canceled on us on Friday. So? no phone call to tell a client that a $2000 job that they are supposed to do at 830 am the following day would be done. I would say this was a lot of brain damage and very unprofessional.

It went well. They came pretty quickly and by the evening of the next day, they were able to find a part and replace it. I liked that they had their name on the van. The guy that came did a great job and was a very nice guy.

Equator Heating was referred to me from Kellman Electrical (also a great Angie's List A rated service provider), after Steve Kellman came to examine my thermostat of our newly purchased home, which had unexpectedly stopped working on a very cold day. I called Kellman, and he arrived 20 minutes later, 7pm on a Friday night....Mr Kellman explained that it wasnt my thermostat that had the problem, but in fact was the regulator on my boiler, and that he would have an associate of his get in touch with me asap. Sure enough, Dean Bolton from Equator called me, and said he would be over at 8:30pm. As promised, he arrived and isolated the problem, offered us 2 price options and said that he possibly would even be able to repair it that evening if he had the parts. He didnt have the parts on his van, so he promised to return in the morning, which he did. By 10:30am the heat was working and the problem was solved. He was knowledgable, informed, helpful, low key, a very nice man to chat with, as well. Will call him in the future, without question.

By process on elimination it was determined that a gas valve was faulty, the repair man promptly fixed the issue and soon glorious heat radiated throughout the house..
