Their price was the best and I was skeptical after reading other reviews where people said they increased the price upon arrival. I inquired about this and my sales rep said this is usually for additional items not included in the quote, which makes sense. As I was packing I called Aaron to add things so there were no surprises at the cost of my move. The guys showed up on time and drove my furniture to my elderly parents' house in Delaware, where they kindly set up the bed at no extra charge. Aaron was wonderful and responsive the whole time. Will definitely be using them again and highly recommend.

Horrible experience with this moving company. Gave me a quote from NY to Texas, then when they came to pick up my items charged me double. After 14 days waiting for delivery the 18 wheeler couldn't drive in my complex and charged me extra $600 like it it was my fault for not being a professional driver because my apartment leasing agent said they never has issues with 18 wheelers driving in and out of this complex. Dumbo was extremely rude and threatening me they will leave my items on the street if I didn't pay right away. Well this was so inconvenient and I was frustrated after making the payment the drivers had to rent a uhaul just for few hours a very small one and at the truck stop they transferred my small one bedroom items and once it arrived I had a broken bookshelf, a broken bathroom Metro Shelving Unit and also a broken lamp. All had to be trashed. Dumbo was rude and did not make any payments. Costumer service on phone will not return your calls or email and you have to read all the fine small prints at bottom. That's how they get you. Please don't use these people you rather go with 2 men and a truk. Dumbo is only a company after your money with no concern for consumers.

Reasons I’ll never book with Dumbo again and you shouldn’t either: My dad watched them literally throw a bunch of my stuff onto the truck (before they realized that he was with me). The day before my move, they said it should be delivered by 3 pm to my storage unit upstate. The day of the move, they told me that they were going to do another move before delivering my stuff because someone else in the area was also moving upstate. I got a call at 5 pm informing me that the truck broke down and they were waiting for a new one in the Bronx. Then they still had 2 apartment’s worth of stuff to load onto the other truck before making the 2 hour drive upstate. A few minutes later, I got a call asking if I could take delivery the following day between 11-1 because they wouldn’t make it to my storage unit in time to finish by 10 pm, when they close. I got a text message the next day saying that delivery would be between 8:30-9. I got a text at 9 letting me know they were 20 minutes away. My boxes piled in the truck were crushing each other, including boxes marked FRAGILE at the bottom of piles. I had 3 large boxes with arrows printed on them and fragile stickers indicating which way was up. They were all tipped on their sides in the truck. I told them to put aside my computer chair and a box of furniture protectors I bought to protect items in storage. They both got buried. Despite not holding up their end of the deal, and even though some of my moving fees were shared with another person (all fees associated with traveling upstate), the company only offered a 30% discount on my NEXT move, despite knowing that I’ve left the city. And as if I’d ever book them again.

It went well the guys are very helpful, reliable. Made the moving easy.I recommend anyone to use that company for moving. Keep up the good job guys.

Workers from truck #31 moved my boxes quickly and carefully. They were polite and hardworking

I'm referring to the entire team, including Mike, the sales representative, who explained their strategy, and, the team leader, and his crew , who executed the transfer. Everything they moved was handled with care and professionalism by the entire team.

They were courteous guys who completed everything flawlessly and without missing a single detail. They went over and beyond to handle both my old and new apartments, as well as all of my stuff as if they were their own.

Overall truly outstanding and caring service from beginning to end, and I would not hesitate to use the company again for a move. They performed their services in a truly caring and outstanding manner. I highly recommend the company.

The guys who came for the move were on time, amiable, and hard workers. They took care and laid down floor protection, padded my furniture, and were very efficient. The price I quoted ahead of time was precisely what I paid, and there were no hidden fees or additional charges. I have moved a few times and have not always had good experiences. Dumbo Moving & Storage exceeded my expectations, and their team was just incredible! I highly recommend this company.

I had a fantastic experience with the crew of Truck 146 at Dumbo Moving. There were professional and courteous, and they did an excellent job packing and moving some very delicate artworks and pieces of furniture. I would absolutely avail myself of their services again, and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to move in the NYC area.

Beneficial service, worth praising. Dumbo Moving are professional yet very caring while moving our properties. They tapped everything efficiently, moved to our new house, and placed them as instructed. Good behavior and well-dressed, which we like, don't hesitate to hire them.

Mike and his team did an excellent job moving my four-bedroom house to another four-bedroom home. The movers were punctual, polite, and kind. My Wife and I were happy with how efficient the whole thing was. They even put all the clothes in the closets. I would recommend hiring them.

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!! Adding my name to the tally of complaints about this place. They "lost" (stole?) over $2,000 of stored items including a very expensive standing lamp and a crystal award that is priceless. They offered me 100 dollars as compensation. The movers could not have been more rude or careless as they dumped boxes wherever they could and jammed out of my apartment. I am FURIOUS that after spending literally 9000 dollars in storage frees for nearly a decade I am not getting back what I stored. NEVER AGAIN.

DO NOT HIRE. I never write reviews but I wish someone had given me this warning before I hired Dumbo. They refused to wrap my furniture, breaking thousands of dollars worth of my items. When I tried to wrap them myself, their movers yelled at me and unwrapped my items. When my items came back to me broken, their customer service could not have cared less or been ruder. They offered me a few hundred dollars to resolve over $7,000 in destroyed furniture. Not to mention they didn't offer me insurance until after my items were moved. Because my items had been stored for several months between moves, Dumbo's own movers who moved my furniture into my new apartment said they were shocked at how poorly Dumbo treated my items. Terrible service, even worse customer service. Some of the rudest individuals I have ever come into contact with, and that's saying A LOT. Spare yourself having your personal items destroyed and months of arguing with despicable people, hire literally ANYONE else.

Our tenants moved out of the rental unit and used Dumbo Moving & Storage for their move. The crew from Dumbo Moving & Storage caused $16,000 in damages to the newly stained floors of the building entry and the apartment, the walls - including a custom tile wall. It's been 2 months since we initiated the claim with their insurance company and we just keep getting the run around. Dumbo Moving & Storage is unprofessional, unresponsive, and avoids accountability for their errors. Do yourself a favor and book a different company.

Used Dumbo for a move in Manhattan. They broke a lamp and completely cracked a dining table. They offered a tiny amount of compensation for the broken table, not even close to enough to replace it. Movers had to constantly be reminded to wear masks. They were also incredibly slow and took about 2 hours for a "lunch break." Awful experience - would not recommend.

Horrible Movers Avoid at all Cost Horrible company that destroyed our valuable furniture and refused to apologize or take meaningful responsibility. My move occurred on Saturday, September 26, 2020. My girlfriend booked the move under her name as she had previously used this company but it contained both of our things. The move had started off rocky because the movers had left the truck with the back fully open (and our belongings totally unsecured) in the alleyway of a public street, for a significant period of time. The movers began to unload our valuable dresser, which was packed by DUMBO moving and is very heavy (approximately 500 or 600 pounds). The movers placed it on a dolly and started to let down the truck's lift without securing this item properly. It fell to the ground from some height, destroying it. Considering that DUMBO Moving has previously packed this item, placed it in storage, and the two movers doing my move had picked up this item from the warehouse the night before the move on September 25, it was known to the company and these two movers specifically how heavy this item was and how to properly handle it. We have obtained security footage from my building showing this. You can see it here: [*** Link removed ***] -- the item was allowed to simply fall off the lift and shatter on the ground. I spoke to another moving company and was told that an item as heavy as this should never be put on a dolly before putting it on the truck's lift--as it will fall just like what happened here. The dresser was in perfect condition before the move, DUMBO moving came back and offered us pennies on the dollar for it, despite the video evidence of their negligence. I was extremely disappointed in the service I received during this move. Do yourself a favor and use better movers that act professionally and take responsibility for their mistakes.

I am begging you, do not use Dumbo. I can’t express this enough. All of the positive reviews are lies. Look through and see there is a theme: scamming re: number of items, tips, amounts charged and damaged goods. They cost me THOUSANDS of dollars. Here’s what happened: On Monday August 3rd I used Dumbo to move. Twice. Yes, I had to pay for two moves on the same day. I was taken advantage of and have damaged items as well. When I initially called Dumbo movers I spoke with someone named Sasha. Sasha asked me questions about what I was moving. I said I had a two bedroom apartment. He asked me questions like how many tvs, how many boxes. Well, I hadn't packed but we talked about what I had. I thought I would have 30 bins in addition to other furniture. Two days before the move I emailed Sasha saying I thought I had more stuff than what was on the list. So I assumed, like a rational person, I'd get a call or I'd be charged more when the movers got there -- because that's what a rational company would do. My quote was $875. I thought this is great! I figured it would end up being more because again, a RATIONAL person would assume you'd have to pay more not that you'd have to have two separate moves. But no. They sent a tiny truck that wouldn't fit my stuff. And they couldn't get another truck. I was in a tight spot. Sasha wouldn't take my call. Sasha never even returned my call when I called that morning. I was flustered. The movers were jerks. One didn’t wear a mask (young, fit serbian kid). They told me exactly what my tip would be and to add the "stairs" to the tip to get around the price Dumbo would charge me. Who does that? It was really uncomfortable. I felt very pressured. Do I not decide what the tip should be? I'm confused. Then the best thing happened. They said they could call Dumbo and make the list of items. They did that... in Serbian. I had no idea what they were listing. Let's call this "the second move"...So then TONY gets on the phone with me talking really fast. Here is where the scam begins. Meanwhile a hurricane is coming the next day. I have a young jerky mover telling me what to tip. I have a freight elevator booked at my new apartment. I've gotten your certificate of insurance already and had to be out of my apartment. Starting with a new company wasn't really an option. As Tony and the movers surmised. I recall asking the movers or maybe Tony if I waited would it be cheaper. No, it's based on the LIST. The all-mighty list. So Tony says I need the biggest truck known to man. Which I clearly didn't. (see the pics!) I said no I don't. He said yes you have more things for your second move than you did for your first. Well, remember I didn't list the things for my second move, the movers did. In Serbian. So for the second move, which I had LESS things for I was told it was going to be $1,850. WHAT? You have me over the coals. $200 administration fee (for WHAT?, and I already paid one already) and a truck I don't need. If they were a good moving company they would have trucks that make sense. I have never felt more swindled in my life by this inflated, bogus price. I would NEVER recommend them at all. Now let's talk about the damage, which there is thousands of dollars of. First, my Nelson bench. See the photo of the horrible, destructive scratch across the entire thing. That is completely unacceptable. They also damaged a desk, a shredder, a lamp, a trash can, a file cabinet, and even the wall of the apartment. they even made a hole in my bedroom rug which I don't even know how they did unless it was with a box cutter. All of that equals literally over a thousand dollars of damage. There are photos of all of it. The Nelson bench though... it's a true classic. I'm sick about it. They are scammers and crooks. They run a scam based on a bogus list and then surprise you have more than you listed. Then they take advantage of you.

These guys are scam artists. They were getting so many bad reviews on Yelp (800+) that they reported they were out of business. Check it out: [*** Link removed ***] Obviously, Dumbo M&S has not shut down. Unfortunately. Here are the lowlights from my move in November 2019: * The crew chief asked me to sign an iPhone document stating they arrived on time. That electronic signature was later duplicated and/or forged on a series of documents that absolve or limit Dumbo's responsibility for damage. * The crew chief will shake you down for a bigger and bigger tip throughout the move. He'll tell you that he'll "work with you" by providing additional boxes & services at no charge. It's a lie. * Virtually every piece of furniture was damaged, including a $2,500 Caligaris dining room table that now has more gouges, scratches and nicks than a hockey rink. They also destroyed my Bang & Olufsen turntable and Dyson vacuum. When I confronted the crew chief, he said, "The truck shakes. And we didn't have enough blankets." * They don't pack boxes—they just toss items randomly into a box with zero protection or padding. For example: One box had a HP printer on the bottom, topped with a Dyson vacuum, iron platter and oak carrying case. The printer's door hinge was damaged and the unit gouged. Plastic pieces were snapped off the Dyson, making it unusable. The oak case was gouged and scratched. * The crew has sticky fingers. Among the items that somehow disappeared: an XBox One console, robot vacuum, cases of liquor and wine, assorted blu-rays and DVDs, and a lot more.. Notice that all of those items are easy to carry. * After I left to drive to the storage unit, Dumbo's three-man crew abandoned ship, leaving behind bags of clothes, a rug, bookcase and other possessions. They never told me about it. I only found out when I returned to the apartment so I could hand in my keys. Dumbo refused to send another truck to complete the move. * When I called a manager to complain, he told me to file a claim and hung up. * Dumbo's forged documents limit their liability to 60 cents per pound. Basically, that means they offered me $7.80 cents for the Bang & Olufsen turntable. I sued them in Small Claims Court and won nearly $3,000, but that doesn't begin to cover the total damages. I'm also grateful to my credit card company, which nullified Dumbo's $1,700 charge. Do yourself a favor: Hire a responsible, professional moving company, not this bunch of grifters.

I have used Dumbo movers 3 times in the last 18 months, so obviously I have been very happy with their services. Communication with them is a pleasure, they are extremely responsive, and punctual to the minute. I highly recommend their services. Their prices vary depending on how close it is until the end of the month. A move at the beginning of July cost $1,195. The same move in mid-September cost $675.

This was a complete mess! I called the day before to confirm the time and asked what size truck would be sent since there was ALOT of stuff and big heavy pieces. I was told to call back the next. morning. They were prompt but only sent a 16 foot truck. This meant that two trips had to be made and it took 9 hours which immediately DOUBLED the price. At the end of the day the move was incomplete. The movers said they would come back the next day and NEVER SHOWED UP, NEVER CALLED, DID NOT RESPOND TO PHONE CALLS OR TEXTS. When I called the main office they had no idea that the last trip was even booked. They refused to take any responsibility for sending an undersized truck, accused me of making a side deal with the crew (I had no idea they never cleared the last trip with the office) and charged me for another trip, which now TRIPLED the cost. I can't say that the crews did not work - nothing was broken, but the whole thing was totally mishandled and caused a tremendous amount of stress and the loss of a day of getting back to business!
