The experience was fine, not excellent, but pretty smooth. Four movers showed up on time and were professional. I would not say they worked lightening fast, but they moved quickly enough and were fundamentally friendly. A couple of negative things about the experience: **There was an $150 "traveling" charge and a "$50" gas surcharge they had not told me about over the phone. We used four boxes and they charged us $100. At the end of the day, the workers requested $100 tip for each of them. It put a lot of pressure on us and we ended up giving them what I think was too big a tip ($300 for the four of them). So...what they told us would be a 6-hour move at $100 an hour, ended up being $900 (which included the extra $200, plus $100 for materials tacked on) plus a $300 tip. Still, they were professional enough and didn't break anything as far as I know, though have yet to unpack fully so...mixed bag. Not great. Not bad. There's the story.
Description of Work: They helped us move from our 2 br apartment in Brooklyn to a 3-story home in Staten Island.

They arrived at 8:05 a.m (scheduled to arrive between 7 a.m and 8 a.m) and were done unloading at the new address by about 1 p.m. Four workers, all polite and pleasant. Furniture was taped, but no visible damage to finishes or material. Framed pictures were not wrapped in quilts, as stated on phone message, but again, no apparent damage. They cannot put live plants in the truck, but they did help carry them (3 large) to and from my car. I haven't really unpacked, so I'll amend this if dishware/glasses did not make it in one piece. Otherwise, totally acceptable performance. No damage to lobbies/public space at either end. Complaints about new buildings moving policy were unnecessary and unprofessional (had to use elevator and side door even though apartment was near front entrance on the first floor).
Description of Work: Company was hired to move me from a one 1 bedroom in Brooklyn Heights (4 flights walk-up) to another in Washington Heights (elevator). Platform Queen-sized bed, couch, solid Oak dining table, antique dresser with mirror, various other smaller furniture items, about 45 boxes (various sizes) and 13 framed pictures. Couch, table and bed required dis-assembly and re-assembly. Cost was $890 before tip; including $50 fee for faxing certificate of insurance to Co-op managing agent in advance. This was not done the day requested and took several phone calls to get it done.

THEY CAME HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. THEY WERE ALL THAT WE EXPECTED. THEY DID NOT DAMAGE ANY OF OUR FURNITURE. THEY STORED IT IN A VERY CLEAN FACILITY. THEY HAVE VERY GOOD SECURITY FOR ALL OUR ITEMS THAT ARE THERE.
Description of Work: THEY MOVED OUR FURNITURE AND PUT IT IN STORAGE.

IT WAS TERRIBLE. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. I WOULD STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST IT. THEY PUT PACKING TAPE ON LAMINATE WOOD, AND ALSO THEY CHARGED FOR PACKING ROLLS. I FELT UNPREPARED. ON THE CLERICAL END THEY COULD HAVE DONE MORE PREPARATION ON WHAT I COULD HAVE HAD READY. THEY CHANGED THE NUMBERS AND WORKED THE TOTAL ACCORDINGLY SO THEY COULD GET THE BIGGER TIP. THEY DIDN'T EVEN PACK THINGS WELL, AND THEY SMASHED UP MY DRYER.
Description of Work: THEY WERE PACKING EVERYTHING UP AND DRIVING FIVE BLOCKS AND PUTTING THEM ALL INTO STORAGE INTO A GARAGE.
