Excellent! I received service within 24 hours. The two electricians arrived a few minutes before appointment which was perfect for me. They were courteous, professional and thorough. I would definitely recommend them and would use this service again.

Excellent service. Same day, efficient, totally professional. It could have been a big problem in older brownstone (or "can of worms," as electrician said) but he was able to rewire the outlet so that it's essentially new. He told us that running a new line (thus bypassing outlet) wouldn't have solved the problem, since the older wiring would still be carrying energy even if unused. He knew what he was doing. My landlady paid, so I don't know how much it cost, but she was happy. Wanted them to get a good review.
Description of Work: Blaze fixed a dead outlet in my brownstone apartment. Wiring was very old, but they knew what to do.

Absolutely terrible! he should lose his license.
Description of Work: BEWARE! Absolutely disgusting man Frank is (owner). He tells you a SET price over the phone without even hearing you out or checking the site. I ask for him to send someone over and he does and switches up the price by adding $400 more for something unnecessary. I call confused since he seemed so set on his price at first and he suddenly becomes absolutely irate and unprofessional: "you can be as confused as you want, i can do the work cash but i wont give you a receipt, have a nice day" and hangs up on me.... he has some serious issues and i pray no one uses/trusts this man to do their electrical work. He insist on doing the job with shortcuts and no permits. If i cant even have a phone call with the guy, imagine dealing with him as a vendor after paying thousands for a job!

I couldn't be more pleased. Frank called me back immediately and sent someone to give me an estimate the same day. Once I told them to go ahead they showed up exactly when they said they would and installed the exit signs to code. Frank was extremely responsive whenever I had a question. Since I am not on site this can be a difficult situation, but Blaze made it very easy. I will definitely keep their number handy for future work.

Took the two individuals 10 minutes to add a switch right next to the circuit breaker. They didn't even put the actual switch in the wall, they put it on the wall. Its not right for my employee to be hustled by the individuals that came out when angieslist is supposed to be a trusted source. I understand that business is tough but taking advantage of someone and not performing the actual job is simply wrong. That job was not worth even $100!

I emailed him but got no response. So I called him. He comes highly rated on Angie's List. He had to get back to me with availability. The estimator was late to the appointment. I had to call to confirm he was showing up. The estimation came back with only 3 of the 4 things that I required. And when my designers called to ask questions about the estimate, Frank was very rude and cut them off by saying "he needs to pass on this job", "he is very busy and can't get to it anytime soon". Quite frankly, for anyone reading this review, I would recommend that you pass on Frank before he passes on you.

I had responded to both the customer and designer a number of times. The have concrete ceilings and really didn't want wire mold. I explained that they have to use wire mold and that we can not cut into the ceiling. They wanted pictures of how wire mold would look with track lighting because they couldn't picture it. I do not have pictures. After going back and forth for a few days I had to let them know we were to busy and that she would have to get someone else. I am so sorry but I couldn't keep going back and forth with her and the designer. I tried not to be rude, but the didn't like that I couldn't help them with what they wanted to do.

They came two different days and were on time both days. The workmen carried themselves very professionally, and seemed to care about the job and how it looked when it was done. Mostly what I noticed was that both jobs were highly unusual and required a fair amount of experience and creativity to solve some tricky issues that my property and wiring presented. These guys did a nice job figuring their way around the issues, and in the end they got the installations to look better than what I was expecting. I've owned several houses in my lifetime and have had to learn to be a bit of a handyman myself over the years. I've been a landlord at times and have really had to hire many, many contractors/tradesmen and I feel like I know the good ones from the bad ones. These were smart, good electricians and I will be using them again in the future.

A service answered the call on a Monday morning and told me that an electrician would call me right back. He did. Identifying himself as "this is the electrician," he grufly refused to make an appointment with me for any time OTHER than 4-5PM all week. He told me they were too busy to do any.other.time. I thought the inflexibilty was funny, since I was offering to give him my money, but Blaze clearly has all the work it wants, and there are too many electricians in Brooklyn for me to work with one who won't work with me.

I am really sorry but we had some of our crew out that week and really had nobody to send earlier. I was trying to get someone there in the late afternoon or early evening but this was not good for the customer. I am truly sorry that the time was not good for the customer but sometimes things happen that you have no control over. It is better to tell the truth than to lie and say I will get someone there earlier and then call and say we are running late. Refused would not be the word I would use when you have nobody to send. Truthful is more of what I would call it.

I called this provider for an estimate due to a problem I was having with an air conditioner. The HVAC contractor I spoke to previously said it was an electrical issue. So I called this electrician who said they would not touch my issue and they did not even take a look at it. The company offers free estimates on their website. Unprofessional.

I was told the electrician would come between 08:00 and 08:30am. He (Chapelle) showed up at 7:45am, and called 5 minutes before saying he was getting close. When he arrived, he took down the existing ceiling fixtures pretty quickly. He also established that I was missing a canopy kit for each of the new lamp fixtures (I had no idea I needed these), and left for a nearby hardware store to get the canopy kits. I gave him general directions/ preferences, and he came back with two different sets, neither of which I particularly liked -- but I could hardly blame him for the store's lack of options. I therefore instructed him to install one of the two sets, while I left to look for other ones. I found them at Home Depot, and returned within 30 minutes; told him to use one of the two sets I got (I wasn't sure if both would be a good fit), which he did. Halfway through the installation he said "We have an issue," which was that the shades would not hang straight but be completely off balance. After me searching online, including using IKEA problem shooting and DIY YouTube videos for a few minutes, I looked at the IKEA instructions that came with the shade (which he hadn't thought of), and realized the issue could be fixed with a simple switch of the shade's metal structure. I have to say that I was surprised that he didn't figure this out himself, and I'm glad I did (normally I suck at these things), as we otherwise might have left the project unfinished. In the end, he stayed from 7:45am to 10:30am, and wanted to charge me $175 or $185 for the first hour (I forget the exact amount), and an additional $75 for each half hour after that, or a total of $485+tax (having given me a "discount" of the equivalent of15 or 30 minutes), which was totally off what Frank and I had discussed over the phone. Frank had quoted the same initial cost but said $75 for each additional _hour_, and estimated the job to be around $200+tax for the entire thing, which I realize was only an estimate. After Chapelle and Frank discussed over the phone, with me reminding Frank via Chapelle about our conversation a few days earlier, we settled on $300 + the material Chapelle had gotten for me (most of which I managed to get back from the store, as we didn't use it). I would use them again, as I'm very happy with the final job and the price was decent, but I was still negatively surprised by the lack of initative/skills on behalf of the electrician when faced with a challenge.
Description of Work: I needed help taking down two existing ceiling fixtures and have IKEA shades and cords put in in their place. I called around using Angie's List providers with an overall A rating, and decided on Blaze Electric based on their availability and estimated price.

I am so sorry that you had this issue and that is the reason that we do not pick up decorative fixtures for our customers. We charge also only by the 1/2 hour so Frank would never had said $75.00 an hour. We always say the first half hour price and for every additional 1/2 hour. Sorry if you miss understood us. If you read some old messages that we get you will see that it's always charged by the 1/2 hour. As for hanging the fixture I will be speaking with the tech that should not have happened.

Company was great at responding to queries, and initially said that based on the photos provided that they believed a replacement could be done quickly and easily. Unfortunately when the worker arrived, it turned out that the work would be a bit more involved that initially believed. They offered to come back with the appropriate tools and materials, but we decided that the additional cost and time was not worth it for us. Even though we ended up not going through with the job, we could be not be happier with their responsiveness and professionalism.
