Description of Work: Major electrical work in my basement. The utility company cut the power lines from the street to my house because of an unsafe situation. They literally rescued me. I was desperate. They came immediately even though it was late in the day and worked into the night to restore temporary power to my tenants. They came the next day and did major work putting in new lines, boxes and circuit breakers for all the aparrtments.

Description of Work: In the aftermath of "Sandy", I was very grateful to get ANYONE to come & help me. I was still in Massachusetts calling electricians because my neighbor said Con Ed had left me a note and wouldn't connect my power line without an "unsafe" condition being corrected first by a NY licensed electrician. Blaze called me back quickly & arranged to meet me at my house. They replaced the insulator that was missing. It was a very quick job requiring them to just screw in a connector to the outside of the house. I feel the price was a bit high, but considering the circumstances, I was happy to get it done so quickly.

Description of Work: The guy showed up 12/17/12 around 8 AM for an 8:30 appointment. We had some wiring damage after Sandy. I wasn't there but someone let him in and said he just took a quick, basic look around the basement. She didn't get to the front door fast enough for him and he was pounding on, and yelling through the door that I had invited him over. She said his manner was rough and unfriendly. He didn't seem to want to speak with me about what I wanted him to do exactly. Other electricians had called me when they were there to discuss any work they were to do. I got a call about two days later from him saying that he wanted to send me a proposal for the work. I asked him how much it was, and he said he didn't know as he didn't have it in front of him. I then asked him what he wanted to do and he then told me the city of NY says that he has to rewire my basement from top to bottom and that the previous electrician didn't change the wiring. I then told him I already HAD a city building inspector there after the first electrician and he didn't tell me I had to rewire the basement from top to bottom. He then said "I guess you don't need me then". There is some rust here and there but ALL the wiring does NOT have to be ripped out and replaced top to bottom as he said!. I had wanted to hire him to replace some specific wiring, but not after he tried to scam me telling me extensive rewiring work was mandated by the city when it was not. I'm posting this review because he seems to be taking advantage of people with damage sustained by the storm by telling future clients that he has to do more extensive work then needed, and then using the city requiring it to validate what he is trying to do. I see some good reviews here, but I can only post my experience with him.

Description of Work: I spoke with Frank and he was a very nice gentleman. I haven't decided who I am going to go with yet. He gave me a very nice, well written estimate. They were very professional and friendly.

Description of Work: While the response to our call was immediate and an electrician showed up promptly the next morning, the young man seemed somewhat overwhelmed by the various jobs--mostly removing ceiling fans and replacing them with other fixtures. Questions we had about a switch for an outside light could not be answered.

Description of Work: Circuit breaker tripped during the night, no lights or electric throughout the house. Turned breaker on a huge power surge caused our power strip in the dinning room to burn out causing the widow drapery to catch fire! The power surge was so strong that the power strip burned a section of our ceramic tile. We put fire out we need emergency electrical service. Called Blaze Electric located in Brooklyn NY, Nicky the Electrician showed up within the hour. Took his time checking for a short circuit or faulty wiring checking every room in house plus checked every circuit breaker in the box. Found the problem in kitchen Microwave shorted the outlet. Outlet was changed with a circuit trip G.F.C.D. also light switch in Kitchen was replaced, outlet in dinning room rewired. Everything was explained to us in full every step of the way. Excelent work, very professional, the best electrical work ever done in my home an A+ rating. Lights and outlets are working perfectly with fire hazard corrected.

Description of Work: I tried to set up an appointment for a week later. I then received a phone call saying they were coming out today. I had a little trouble understanding what he was saying and I believe they had trouble understanding what I was saying due to a slight language barrier. I did not pursue them any further due to the initial confusion.

Description of Work: Our bedroom light had stopped working, and we also needed a simple switch installed in the kitchen to replace an incompatible dimmer. Another electrician had looked at the bedroom light, and said the problem was the dimmer/switch box, not the light fixture itself; but he didn't know how to fix it. The building has very old wiring (maybe 60 or 70 years old) and the switches are wired, shall we say, 'creatively'. Blaze was great: they came the same day I called, and within the time frame specified. I told Blaze what the previous electrician had told me. The guy trouble shot the problem until he found the answer, it was the light fixture after all. He fixed it on the spot and reinstalled the dimmer. He was friendly and explained the problem. He was here for almost two hours, so I think the price was fair. We would definitely hire Blaze again.
