BEDFORD SEWER SVC

A couple months ago I had a good experience with the company - similar issue but they were available faster and charged less. This time, they sent a different technician. I explained the issue and asked if it would be $95 like last time and was told that it would be - but then told in person that he had misunderstood and would actually be charging $160 - almost double. I was also told that I should be preemptively hiring them every three months to do a general sewer cleaning - I'm quite surprised by this recommendation - seems a bit excessive! Also: he pumped out the sewer and placed the tube sloppily so some of the gunk ran right back into the basement and I had to mop it a bunch of times with heavy cleaning chemicals - it was gross! That most definitely didn't happen the first time.

I called this morning at 9 after troubleshooting with a plumber friend and said that I think the main sewer line needs to be cleared. They said a technician would call me back within 1-2 hours. He called, said he'd come at 1 and that it shouldn't take more than an hour and if I'm right that the main sewer line needs to be cleared, it would be $95. He texted a little later, asking if it was OK to come at 2. I said it was fine. The doorbell rang at 2:01. He spent about 45 minutes checking things out, then clearing the main sewer line, then double and triple checking that it was 100% clear. I'd absolutely hire again - very happy with Bedford Sewer.

Left four messages with telephone answering service. Was told each time someone would respond within 1-2 hours. No call after 12 hours. Consulted Angie's List for another service provider.

He answered our questions but we went with somebody else because of the price.

They were a pleasure to deal with. They were prompt and clear and came when they said they would come. They let us know how much they expected the work would cost and then let us make the decision when they discovered some rusted and broken valves. Of course, we had them do the work. The only problem was when they wanted the check made out to cash. I just let them know I couldn't do that because of IRS preferences. They accepted the check made out to the company.

We had been using another company in Brooklyn, to clean our main sewer line twice a year. Although they seemed to do a fine job, they were seriously overpriced. I found Bedford on Angie's List and gave them a call. They were in the neighborhood and Bob quoted a great price. He was available to do the job immediately, but the timing wasn't good for me. I called back the next morning to set up an appointment, which they don't seem to do. It took about a week for us to connect - they tried calling us on the weekend when we weren't around, and during the following week Bedford was tied up with emergencies after a big storm. We eventually found a mutually good time and Bob came and did the job. He gave us the option of using RootX and explained thoroughly what it would do. I didn't meet him personally but my husband reports that he was very nice and knowledgeable. The sewer line seems to be much better since he did the work.

Due to tree roots, we required annual sewer cleaning for many years and sometimes twice annual sewer cleaning. We also have occasional sink and tub back-ups. Bedford is among the most affordable sewer cleaners & I use them whenever I can. They are not always available for late-night emergency jobs, but if you can wait until the next morning, they are among the most affordable and reliable. I have used other companies that either overcharge or that charge a "contract fee" in order for you to get their reduced rate. Bedford charged me the same reasonable fee each time. One warning... they may have a little "brooklyn attitude" and won't hesitate to bluntly tell you if you over-paid for your last sewer cleaning or blocked your pipes with a flushed paper-towel. However, they do great work.

THEIR PRICES ARE GOOD, BUT I HAD TO WAIT THREE DAYS FOR THEM TO COME OUT. THE RECEPTIONIST WAS NOT VERY FRIENDLY, BUT I THINK SHE IS JUST OVERWHELMED WITH ALL THE CALLS SINCE THIS COMPANY IS SO INEXPENSIVE AND EVERYONE USES THEM. THEY DID A GOOD JOB.

THIS COMPANY WAS HORRIBLE, THEY LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF A JOB TO GO GET A PART THAT APPARENTLY HAD BEEN LEFT IN ANOTHER TRUCK AND THEY NEVER CAME BACK.

THEY ARE VERY RESPONSIVE. THE SERVICE MAN WAS VERY POLITE AND ON TIME. THEY ARE A GREAT COMPANY TO DEAL WITH. I WAS VERY SATISFIED WITH THEIR SERVICE.
