We still don't know where the furniture is. The Department of Transportation has assured us that we will receive our furniture with no extra charges. They even told us that they never intended that the original quote was going to be honored it was just for picking up the furniture. This did not include the the storage and delivery. The original quote was $841 and then tried to charge us $935 then $1,150. We have refused to pay the access fees to them. Becken is one of the most dishonest moving companies that I have ever met. They no longer answer our phone calls to resolve the issue.
Description of Work: We hired Becken to move furniture for us. On March 4th we were going to send several pieces of furniture. The driver provided us with a quotation which was actually more than what their original sales person had quoted us. The driver said to call the sales representative. I did so and she asked if I had put more furniture than what the original quote was for. I explained that I had actually put on less furniture. Later the boss called us back and said they would bring the price down by $90.00. Yet, when we spoke with them again about the issue they brought the price back up. They were supposed to deliver the furniture on the April 8th. When we called about the furniture on the 8th because nothing came they said it would come the 21rst. The 8th was more of just an approximation. On the 21rst it did not show up in the morning so we called and they said it would come in the afternoon. When it did not show up in the afternoon we called again and the driver said it would be delivered in the evening. We once again waited and called at this point the driver cursed out my sister and said he would not be delivering our furniture. When they were supposed to delivered the furniture they said it would be a charge of $150.00 extra for storage. Yet they did not even tell us about the extra charge until later or where it was in storage. When the furniture never showed up we found out that Ameron another company had the furniture. Trying to get a hold of Ameron was another story. They informed us that Flat Rate Furniture has the furniture. After talking to Flat Rate Furniture they wanted more money for the storage and moving of the furniture. I decided to speak with an attorney and they recommended to speak with Flat Rate again. Our lawyer has also informed us that Beckens is a broker company and not an actually moving company. We have also gone to Transportation Specialist and they have found several violations in their records. After speaking with Beckens again they said we still owe them money or the furniture will be auctioned off. They told us to not call them anymore. When I tried to explained that I was trying to resolve the situation he would not even listen.

They were the worst I've ever had in my life and I wouldn't have my worst enemy use them. They picked up our things and then moved us on the 4th of February 2011. They promised fourteen day delivery but they didn't deliver until March 6th. They charged me $845 more than they were supposed to because they put our things in storage and they may have paid the storage charge. They would not deliver the goods until I assured them that I had money order in hand and they made me give them that money before they unloaded the truck. They unloaded the truck and I found there was lots of damage. I did an internet search and found them and then went out for quotes. The quoting price was good but the ending price was terrible. They still haven't settled the claim with me. They were some very valuable things in the boxes that did not get here and some of them were broken and it's highly replaceable. I was so frustrated with them. Every time I think about it, it gets me upset. The last I was told was, the three boxes that were missing were in kept and they were supposed to get them shipped to me.

Response from Beckens Moving & Storage Inc
Member had a total of 3 different moves happen at one time, each move was for each of his brother's each going to a different state (FL, OH, KY) the amount of items that were shipped compared to the estimated items were different in numbers. We had given him a window for delivery as mandated by DOT law of up to 21 business days to delivery all 3 locations. Member was notified of every step of the move prior to the truck showing. They understood the pricing and the delivery before the shipment left TX.
