ABECO MANAGEMENT CORP

An honest assessment from a three-year (and counting) tenant. The Abeco Organization is a super poorly operated entity. Having lived in multiple states - in properties that dwarf the size of the small building they call The Retreat (1288 E 19th Street, Brooklyn), I can attest to the fact that Abeco is DYSFUNCTIONAL. They do not communicate back, do not take any affirmative steps to resolve any maintenance issues, and have a super who has been superficially cleaning for the last two years to the point that my apartment and some common areas have become infested with ants and roaches. No matter at what price you can get an apartment that is managed by Abeco, I strongly recommend you stay away. You will spend much of your time (and nerves) dealing with individuals who either (1) do not care about your concerns or (2) are too ignorant and unintelligent to take recourse.

RENTER BEWARE. I guess a general, and uncreative, overarching description/theme of this management company would be "slum lords". Water damage that was never fixed. Elevator constantly breaking down and taking a week to be fixed. Front door to the building's lock was broken for about 4 months before I moved out. They were notified multiple times via phone, the super, emails with photos - nothing fixed, just the runaround that someone was coming to fix it that never did (multiple bikes were stolen out of the building during that time as well). It's now been 3 months and can't get anyone on the phone or to reply to my emails regarding my deposit check being returned.
