Shamrock Painting & Wallpapering

I found Shamrock through Angie’s List. I knew nothing about them, they weren’t a recommendation from a friend….just hired them based on their reviews here. I am now a believer In Angie’s List…..cause I found a painter for life! THANK YOU ANGIE and all past reviewers who helped me make the right decision! Such a pleasure to meet a contractor that actually shows up and ALWAYS shows up on time! Has a fantastic work ethic, never a break, except lunch hour (was there from 8 or 9 -5 or later everyday) – doesn’t book 2-3 jobs at once, so doesn’t leave early to go finish other jobs, AND is even more detail oriented than I am (and I’m tough to beat!) Kevin and his partner painted and did wallpaper removal on a one bedroom apartment for us. Apartment hadn’t been painted in many many years…. and with apartment steam heat and windows closed all the time (elderly occupant), walls had major cracking and chipping of old paint. The amount of plastering to be done was huge. Due to the shape of walls, I didn’t hold out much hope of the walls looking decent even after paint and plastering, but Shamrock was able to get it done. In addition, there was old wallpaper upon wallpaper to remove and again they did it, and did it beautifully. The whole apartment has smooth walls / window sills and looks brand new! You would never have known it was as bad as it was! A few days after job was done, I did notice one area on a pipe that was off in color (probably painted once, instead of twice like rest of pipe (really minor and easily missed due to lighting). Although he had left us the left-over paint, I called Kevin to ask if he could come back to do that part of pipe again. He apologized and without hesitation said he’d gladly come back. Told him I’d get back to him with date he can return, but before I could make the appointment, illness struck and weeks turned into 2 months later…. And then… HE CALLED ME… to remind me that he wants to come back to do the pipe! I thought I was dreaming! He remembered that small non-issue item??? NOW, come on….what contractor does that.... and... 2 months later??!! This is your proof of attention to detail and how they want you to be happy with the job!!! To Kevin the job wasn't complete until the pipe was re-done. I’ve worked with many, many, many contractors and this has NEVER happened, nor can I imagine any one of them even thinking about a job 5 minutes after its done! All contractors should have Kevin's business sense and work ethic. Bottom line: They are hard working, no-nonsense, honest, nice guys, focused on your job, extremely detail oriented, will make sure you are happy with the results. Started & completed the job on time. I am a happy camper that highly recommends Shamrock!

Shamrock painted the exterior of my business and did a neat, crisp painting job. They paid special attention to the small details and kept the area organized while working and did not interfere with my business operations.

Kevin was hired to paint a 3 bedroom furnished rental apartment. I discussed my expectations with respect to now have issues I have had with previous painter including paint on the floors ect. He said he would cover the floors with paper and protects all my things.I explained that Prep work was the most important part of the paint job and we discussed that as well. I blocked off my calendar for 3 night to have the job done. The job was started on the scheduled day and was completed in the 3 days Kevin told me he needed. Kevin told me he needed 10 gallons of paint for the walls excluding the kitchen and bathrooms and ten gallons were provided for the walls and 3 gallons for the Kitchen and bathrooms. On day 3 which was two and a half days into the job Kevin called me at work at about 12pm, and told he would needed more paint. I explained that I was at work but the paint was purchased at Home Depot and he could easily get more. He immediately responded that he could not go get it. I became upset and stated that I was now at work, you said nothing about needing more when I saw your this morning and I got exactly the amount you asked me to get! I expect you to get the paint and finish the job as I have guests which have booked and paid for the apartment the following night. He then asked where the closest Home Depot was and I told him it was about 10 minutes away at Bronx Terminal. He replied that he did not know there was one that close and said ok he would go and get the paint. On the fourth day which was Saturday morning, I entered the apartment to see the completed job. I found the following issues in EVERY room which was painted. 1. large areas which hand not even been touched with ANY paint including 73 inches high by 3 inches deep around the perimeter of 5 windows. Paint on the blinds and the tracks. Holes left in which no attempt was made to fill them. The wand to of the blinds had be left to pressed agains wet paint and pulled the paint away from both sidewalls when I "unstuck " the wands from the walls. The problem was left on every single window as can be seen from the photos. The paint job left was partially cover with paint in many areas as caused by a roller which is not properly loaded with enough paint to give an even covering. Dried paint fleck where all over the bed in the downstairs bedroom. I did not request the ceiling painted yet, a ceiling light was removed from the ceiling and simply left on a counter and I have no idea why it was even removed in the first place? The ceiling were not taken nor where the floors properly covered and that left tan paint on a white ceiling that was high visible in at least three areas and the pain also edged up onto the ceiling as it was not taped off. The walls where not prepared and very small divits which should have been filled and smooth with a swipe of joint compound where left with no attempt to properly prepare the walls prior to painting. The bathrooms where white and I choose to paint which again, I found dripped paint on the floors, in the bathroom sink, in many areas on the tile walls and it appears two of the fours walls were not painted at all or they where painted very, badly I am not sure which is the case. The was paint on the hard wood flooring, very little but there should have been none as I specifically discussed this and that I did not expect to see any paint on the floors. I contacted Kevin via text and told him that I could not leave a good review on this job and I included some the pictures of what was left. He offered to return to "touch up" the job. All the problems left here cannot be fixed with the a touch up, The walls where not properly prepared prior to painted, large areas where to painted at all, and the areas which where painted where poorly done. The deal specifically included minor repair of crack in the wall ect, the basic things done on a wall prior to painting

The actual work couldn't have gone better. The walls and ceilings are perfect. However, I'm still pulling masking tape off wall plates. I was left with a light covering of sanding dust everywhere they worked. Also, the furniture they moved out of the spaces they worked in was not replaced. I don't know if this is the new standard, but the last time I had painters in everything was replaced and there wasn't a trace of dust remaining. On the bright side, with the furniture out of those spaces I could see how badly my floors need refinishing. Maybe the floor people will replace the furniture for me.

Very well. They really know their business. You would never know that the walls had been damaged from wallpaper and age when they were finished.

I needed two rooms Wallpapered in my apartment and Kevin did an excellent job. Very professional and fairly priced - I have already called him again for another wallpapering service and highly recommend him

Kevin is an excellent painter. He was meticulous in details, and the final result was perfect. He is incredibly responsible and I felt totally confident in his judgement and suggestions. He showed up when he said he would and worked diligently and finished the work in a very timely manner. He is such a pleasant person to have around and is totally trustworthy. I highly recommend him!!

Kevin met with me and assessed the work in advance and it was clear that he had a real attention to detail. We were on a tight budget and he was willing to work with us to get big priorities done first and we communicated every day to see what was left to do. He and his team arrived on time, worked well with our super, and did a great job. We were very pleased with the result and the apartment looks great.

He was very rude and disrespectful to me over the phone, so I cancelled the job.

They were tremendously responsive and flexible, working h****** a short time frame to get the apartment completed in time for my pregnant daughter and son-in-law to move into their new home. I don't have anything negative to say, as Kevin was the consummate professional.

Kevin was very professional and did the best job possible given the walls were not entirely straight. What I most appreciated was the willingness to finish the job when the wallpaper we ordered was surprisingly less than expected to cover the nearly 200 square feet. He came back in a timely manner after the extra paper was ordered. I would recommend Kevin for his skills and attention to details.

Everything was done on time and in a very professional way.

After starting, he said that he didn't realize it was so much work, and he did not finish. He said that he ran out of paint and then told me that I would need to find someone else to finish painting.

Work was well done, neat, caulked corners and trim much improved, nicks and dings were filled in, Kevin was easy to work with , will use again

We had one-week to paint a one-bedroom apartment before a new tenant moved in. The apartment hadn't been painted in a while and needed priming and painting for the walls and ceiling. The important thing was the job had to be done on time (since the tenant was moving in in a week) and by someone who could do it independently (since we wouldn't be around to supervise.) The crew was trustworthy, showed up on time every morning, did all the job, didn't drip paint on the floor and cleaned up perfectly when they were done. Apart from the walls, we wanted to refresh the kitchen so they also painted the wooden cabinets a beautiful shade of Benjamin Moore grey. On our request, they refinished the countertop by sanding it and painting it too. They also painted all the closet doors from brown to white. The job was done very nicely, for a reasonable price and the clean-up was excellent - no paint on the floor and a mess everywhere. They bagged up all the trash and kept it outside for us to take out. Kevin and his team have painted three apartments for us so far and we highly recommend them.

Pleasant to speak with, obviously popular so I have no doubt he is good at what he does, just not customer-centric

As I mentioned above Kevin was very professional and left no doubt that he was extremely good at his work. He brought to our attention and fixed things that needed to be corrected that we were not even aware were a problem.

I cancelled through Angie's list and got my money back.

We have used Kevin twice before on the bathroom and to paint and skim the bedroom ceiling. We were so satisfied with those jobs, we brought him in for this bigger job. We needed the place looking good for an open house. He did such a good job that our broker wanted his contact info. He can sometimes be a little scattered, but once he gets on the job, he is all business. A fair and accurate quote. A very hard worker. Was very respectful and careful of the apartment. Good staff to assist him. And in the end, the apartment never looked better. I highly recommend without reservation.

First, I must apologize to the provider of the services, Mr.Kevin Granahan and his associate of Shamrock Painting and Decorating for my tardiness in submitting this review. The job was performed in early June, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the review was not done. The services provided by this company was exceptionally good, and I was satisfied that I got more than my money's worth. He had the appropriate equipment that allowed them to reach even up to the high ceiling and paint the corners that were hard to reach. They protected the floor areas with the necessary drop cloths, so there was no messiness left behind. After a day's work, they left the area clean, and were punctual the next day to pick up where they left off. I didn't have to even supervise the work being done, for right away, I knew I could trust their professionalism and honesty to do a good job. My walls are so clean and beautiful and I intend to keep them that way. I highly recommend this company to anyone who wants a job well done. Would I hire this company again? Absolutely! if they would be still willing to do me the honors. Hire Shamrock Painting for your painting needs, and you are guaranteed an A class professional finish to last you for a long time. When they have completed the job, the finish is so perfect that you will not see one speck of paint on your floor. The only tell-tale sign of a paint job will be your immaculately done beautiful walls. Hire this company if you are looking for a high class painting job. You won't regret it.

This is the second time I've used Kevin inside of one year. His work is neat, thorough and very very professional. He's actually very creative with ideas and how to make project even better and more efficient. I highly recommend him and would hire him again at any time

After a few back and forth communications, we were able to schedule the job. The provider arrived at the appointed time, and was able to finish the job in less than the time agreed upon in the initial purchase. Overall very cooperative and professional service.

the work went well it took a little longer as the exterior needed extra prep time

It went extremely well. Kevin and his team are true professionals. They showed up on time, ready to work, fully prepared. They not only just painted my walls but they showed me where many areas needed to be re-plastered or patched. The job was truly professional.

They rescheduled 3 times. The owner said he would be there to do the job but the person that showed up seemed inexperienced and did not have all the needed materials. He showed up with no ladder and ended up cleaning his paint brushes in my sink. He painted 3/4 of the wall because he could not reach to the top of the wall since he had no ladder. As time went on, I noticed the errors and the touch up needed.
