My name is Kevin Granahan. I'm a painting and wallpapering contractor for residential and commercial projects in Manhattan, The Bronx, Queens & Brooklyn. This was a three day job and he bought a deal for $ 989. Originally he was not going to do the kitchen ceiling but I offered to do it because he looked bad. It was no extra money for me and that's put me under pressure to finish up within the three days. Had the client looked around before I left I could easily have touched up those couple of spots. I don't think that qualifies my professionalism as B.

Description of Work: He did a very good job and is very precise. I hesitate to say this because I thought he did great and I would consider having him back my major complaint was his use of items in my kitchen without my permission which is the reason for the lower professionalism score.

I bring my own lunch with me and I used a plate to heat up my lunch and I helped myself to making tea. No one has ever complained about that to me that before. The client was not around and it certainly did not occur to me to call her up to see if that was okay. Some people just have to find a reason to knock you down.

I had to get this done in one day. As the plastering couldn't dry in time for me to paint over I could only sponge sand the plaster which isn't as fine as the dry sanding and is why I probably didn't get an A which I usually do.

Description of Work: Kevin sounded really nice on the phone however I spoke to him three times to stop by and see my space before purchasing a painting deal and he didn't show twice. I don't want to hire someone that doesn't follow through on appointments.

This job was unusual in that all contact was done over the phone as the client was out of the country. As she was planning to sell the apartment I told her a surface paint job would not be sufficient. So I told her I would do a lot of prep work to insure her getting her price should she sell. The difference from the original price had to do with all the additional prep work that went into the job. I charged her for the no. of days work that went into the job. It worked out to be about $220/day/man which was a considerable discount. The apartment was in very bad shape.

The whole apt. needed to be prepped and painted and I gave her a price for that but as the client was renting to someone she only wanted to do the walls which would have been a grossly underdone job and I like to do a job properly.

Description of Work: Two men painted a bedroom. (12X11 size) Repairs were time consuming so the whole project went overtime and I was asked to pay extra $140 to finish it. Original deal was $270 They did a very good job. Left the room clean and tidy.

The original deal was $270 for eight hours of work. As the job had quite a bit of prep and clean up and moving of heavy furniture it took us an extra six hours for which I only charged the client an extra four hours. Our professionalism was A but the client expected the whole job to be done for $270, hence the B rating.

Description of Work: My experience with this work was that it was "bait and switch." The price for one room was $269. I asked for an additional quote to add the trim, sent photos, etc. and agreed to $200 additional. When I tried to schedule the work he complained that it was in Brooklyn, that it would cost him additional to do even the room, so consequently I cancelled the deal. I would not recommend him for the "Big Deal." His work has excellent references from customers where he actually did the work.

Some people just have a spiteful streak and just want to mess up a contractor's good rating. I rounded off the price to $500 which was an increase of a mere $31 and that's all it took for her to cancel and justify giving a d grade.
