Sanitary Plumbing is fantastic! Alex and Jerry fixed an old toilet that 4 previous plumbers could not! I had just about given up, as the previous plumbers all said there was no replacement part available and the bathroom would need to be ripped apart to install a new toilet. Someone who has used Sanitary Plumbing for the housing complexes he manages suggested I try them - so glad I did! Responsive and polite customer service, fast follow-up and then these pros had the problem fixed in one and a half hours. They are the BEST!

Work was performed satisfactorily, even though the technician was many hours late. The reason for the low grade is because of the ridiculously high price which I did not know in advance because they take your credit card information before they show up and charge it anyway they choose. Even with travel time at $170 hour, this job could not have taken 3.5 hours. Had I been on premises when the work was done, I am sure the price would have been different. When I emailed to ask for a breakdown of the labor charges, I received no response.

Serviceman was difficult. Charges were outrageous.

I could not get my hot water pilot light to stay on (A.O. Smith Hot water system). Manifacture recomended Calray Gas Heat Corp in Bronx so I called. After 15 minuets of rude costumer service they send me a PDF service call agreement to sign. They want to charge me $170 per hour for service!!! + tax, material and travel fee!!! if Saturday $255 per hour, Sunday $340!!! No way! So I checked on Angies List. Thanks to Angies list I found much better service and I dod not have to deal with Calray Gas Heat Corp.

First group caused flood. Second group told co-op the problem could not be solved without very esoteric expensive valves. My downstairs neighbor and I figured out how to solve the issue ourselves. Neither of us have any mechanical training or know anything about this field.

I made a call to the company during afternoon hours, in need of an emergency plumbing situation I needed checked and worked on, for same day or early next day. The man who assisted my call was very rude and unprofessional, and did not help at all to try and situate request. I would not recommend this kind of service or treatment to any customers.

Didn't properly diagnose the problem(smell of gas), so the troubleshooting and billing started to add up. When we insisted on going back to the original problem and the different mechanic used different "test" and fixed the problem.We called management to get bids and discuss what happened and "I'll get back to you" line and used time again.

First, they sent an incompetent young plumber who put some grout in the top of the flushometer -- even though I knew it needed changing. When that started leaking that night, they sent an "emergency visit" (it was a Saturday) plumber, even though they knew they wouldn't be able to shut the water down on a weekend AND without 3 days notification of other tenants. When they finally changed it almost a week later, I paid $297 for what they told me was the full bill. Three months later, they started billing me for an additional $400, claiming they'd credited me the $297, which they hadn't because I had a copy of the cleared check. To top it all off, the flushometer never worked very well, as it needs to be flushed twice.

I was unable to fix it myself, my friend the plumber canceled his promise to come at 3:30pm. I called 4 plumbers as local as I could get from Angies List. Sanitary was the only one staffed by sensitive human beings. Leo the dispatcher delt with my flip flopping on the paying time and an half. He sent me a a customer expecation sheet by email and made me respond that I got it. I have never seen such a document from the building "trades" in comparison to learned professions. Chris came on time fix the problem with no attitude all curtesey. We he went back to the truck he came back wearing booties after seeing the "no shoes" sign in my home entrance and I didn't even ask him to take off his shoes.

I immediately went to Angie's List, and found Sanitary. Called and got a polite, professional response. The plumber showed up at the agreed upon time, and dealt with the problem. The final bill was quite reasonable under the circumstances. I would definitely call them again, if needed.

From initial phone call to arrange an on site visit, to getting written quotes to scheduling it was a very straight forward and painless experience. No surprises, no complaints.

Plumber was promp, polite, worked well with super, allowed for choices and finished the repair within the day.

They were very good. They were very quick and clean. I rate them high overall.

They did effective work. It was easy to set up and my son was able to supervise. There were no hassles. It was first-rate workmanship. The handle didn't quite line up so a perfectionist could knit pick. I wasn't there to supervise and my son didn't notice.

To fix a flushometer Sanitary Plumbing first sent an inexperienced young plumber who took about 45 minutes to take apart the flushometer and put it back together. B y the end of the day the toilet was leaking pretty badly again. The next plumber came a couple of days later and seemed to fix the problem but wasn't certain. Sure enough, by the weekend the toilet was leaking a great deal but the repair had to wait until it was possible to shut the water off in the building. Sanitary now claims that it was not their general incompetence (lie #1) and that on the second visit the plumber said he'd have to wait to fix it when the water in the building was turned off (lie #2). The bill arrived today for $400.33 more than I had paid on 3/18/11. When I called Harris told me that they had credited me for the first visit for $191.92. (Lie #3). I asked for a new invoice for the amount of $400.33 but then looked up my records and saw I had actually paid the $192.61 they were claiming to credit me. I found the cancelled check on my bank statement and called back. Now there was a new story: Harris now told me that, despite being billed for 3 hours plus parts, that although there was no indication of this on the invoice, Sanitary had supposedly credited me for the first unsuccessful visit (lie #4).

I checked them on Angieslist and they had very good ratings. They were responsive and honest about their pricing, and explained my options clearly. The utility company had shut off all gas supply to my apartment building, so we were without heat, hot water or cooking gas for a week in January. To satisfy the utility to turn on the gas again, the plumbers had to replace the whole gas supply system to repair one small leak. So it was far more involved and expensive than it should have been. But I can’t really blame Sanitary Plumbing for that. They were professional in their customer relations and quality of work. They are not cheap, but they are a good company.

They never returned numerous calls, and I will never call them again, even in an emergency

They were persistent and they didn't stop until they found out the problem. They're good if you need someone in an emergency.

Have used Sanitary a few times. They're always smart and efficient; when someone doesn't know a particular area (we have complex showers), they call in someone with that expertise.

The people who came to assess the project and give quotes definitely didn't seem to know everything that the plumbers knew when they showed up, as in, people giving estimates aren't plumbers. That seemed a little odd to me, but they were all very professional and as the project kept growing (not only trap needed to be replaced, but now the whole sewer main), they allowed us to finance our bill and pay in installments. They helped me decide what was necessary and what I could do without, important as we were on a very tight budget.

This is plumber is retained very frequently by high-end Manhattan co-op buildings to service building needs, particularly difficult problems which are beyond the ability of building staff. I used them on a personal basis. Arrangements were made by the management company for my building. T hey are not cheap, but veru competent.

Well. They came one day after I called prepared to do the work. They arrived when they said they would, were professional, and cleaned up after themselves. I found these guys in the Yellow Pages after attempting to address these issues with about 5 plumbers with "A" grades on Angie's List. I don't think I'll be renewing my Angie's List membership, as participants seem to engage in extreme grade inflation.

They were extremely responsive. They were out on time and very polite and courteous. They got the work done very fast and they were very professional.

Perfectly. They returned a few times with parts and different folks with a variety of skills.
