Frankly, Jesse Shapiro & James Glass Corp was not at the top of our list when we sought estimates. But we were impressed by Rick, who came to our house to assess the job. His patience, knowledge, attention to detail, willingness to answer any question with explanations that any layman could understand and the fact that he, himself, would do the installation, gave us the confidence that he was the man to do the job. Our confidence in him was rewarded -- and then some. With a helper, he did the installation with same care and methodical attention to detail that impressed us so much when he did the estimate.

The job and service exceeded expectations. My teenage had accidentally broken a window glass while my wife and I were away on vacation. We remembered the name Jessie Shapiro and James because their vans have been a familiar presence on the upper west side for the past 30 years that we have lived here (probably longer). We suggested that our son call Shapiro himself. He was able to arrange everything with ease and the window was fixed before we even got back. Easy enough for s kid to do it! Now, we live I. An 1880s house, so not every square is perfectly square. About 4 months later, the balance failed. (I honestly can't attribute this to a problem of workmanship-just one of those things). I called and they promptly replaced the balance -at no charge. Two months later, again the balance needed replacement. I called and explained that I didn't think it was necessarily a warranty covered problem at this point- but that I would be happy to pay for it if we could just get it fixed asap. A VAN SHOWED UP IN MAYBE ONE HOUR! The technician again replaced the part at no charge! Now that's going above and beyond in service-which is what compels me to write this review today. Great service deserves recognition. Thank you Jessie And James. You are certainly not like the outlaw that shared your name!

.I needed a piece of 1/4" glass (roughly 3' x 3') to replace a broken one to cover a table top. I just wanted rounded corners and edges to avoid scratching, and I wanted it delivered. I contacted S&J (in the Bronx) by email, along with two other Angie providers, with an overview of my specs. I received a reply the same day from two of the three providers. Several emails went back and forth to clarify the order, and I chose S&J due to their concern for thoroughness and accuracy over the second one. Also, S&J (I spoke with Terry, who was completely courteous and professional) asked several good questions the other company did not - which had some impact on the final deliverable. The fact that their price was better than the other vendor simply made the choice that much easier. The rest is storybook. I called and spoke with Terry once I had their initial estimate via email based on my specs. We refined the order (rounded, not beveled, nickel-size corners vs dime-sized, etc.), and he gave me a final price (exactly the same as his original estimate, plus tax), and we scheduled the delivery for Tuesday, 12/30. (I had expected to have to wait until the following week due to the holidays but, surprisingly, that was not an issue.) S&J called me to confirm the delivery on Monday, and asked if they could change the delivery to the am instead of the afternoon. That worked even better for me, so we rescheduled for 9am Tuesday. My bell rang at 9am on Tuesday, and Angel brought the glass piece up to my apartment, unwrapped it, removed the old, broken (and very taped up) glass and placed the new one on the table. It was exactly right, and fit perfectly. Sadly, it's become somewhat remarkable these days when product and service are actually delivered as promised. In this case, Jesse, Shapiro and James Glass Corp. delivered both product and service - as promised - in the most proper, professional, courteous and confident manner that I never even questioned the possibility that they wouldn't: and I was not disappointed. I am totally satisfied with every aspect of this transaction. I very highly recommend Jesse, Shapiro and James Glass Corp. for glass requirements. While my requirement was simple and straightforward, their website indicates they provide many other glass products and services. I would not hesitate to use this company again, or recommend them to others - to you (other Angie's list subscribers) - for your needs. This company has proven to be reliable, competent, courteous and honest. That's all I ever want from a vendor, and S&J certainly delivered.

These guys were great. They were responsive, friendly, professional and fast. I would use these guys again and definitely consider them for bigger jobs.

Couldn't be better!

From the time I called to setup an estimate, the staff was very professional and obviously experienced because they were able to design exactly what I had envisioned in my head. I wasnt able to exactly explain what i wanted to do and it was great because they understood what i wanted and took the ball.

All I can say is that you call them, schedule an estimate, they always come within the window they tell me, and the installation is always completed on time as well. They stand by their work and that is very important to my business. I strongly recommend these guys to anyone who wants it done right.

It was a very nice experience. I got an estimate first and their estimate was the lowest of three. They came when they were supposed to come and did a detailed inspection of the work and gave me a detailed estimate on the spot. I was free to call them when I wished and I called them to schedule the work. They called back and scheduled the work. They gave me a window of four hours and the guys came within the four hours. They did the work and they were very pleasant. I was very happy with them. They were very responsive. I would definitely use them again.
