It was very good. They gave us a pretty good price. They were very professional. When they came out to give us the estimate, they gave us the idea of what we’re going to do. They were extremely thorough. We looked at other companies and they were the most thorough and professional from all of them. Their price was reasonable. They were sort of flexible. We came do a good arrangement. It was a great experience. The only possible exception was when the movers showed up and the foreman of the moving crew told us that we had more boxes than their estimate. I informed it to him because it was an estimate before we packed anything. He said it was a bunch more than they expected and they let me know that we should give them tip like 20%. Before the move, I was certain that I’m going to argue with him but I just said sure, whatever they want. It was a $2,500 move and that is a lot of money. I was pretty determined to sort of slight them in the end because it was a lot of money but in the end, the move actually did take a lot more than I anticipated. We did have a lot of stuff but I wasn’t sure if they have given us a little ball estimate to get our business, I wasn’t sure if this guy does this stuff all the time. It was a hot day and they still filled the entire truck and they did a really good job. I was very impressed. So even though I didn’t quite give them as much as they asked for, I gave them a hell of a lot more than I intended to. I didn’t like the way that happened. I thought that was kind of unprofessional but the actual work and work ethic was great. I also called the office person that I dealt with because I was not happy with that guy had said and I never got a callback from them. I kind of get the impression that once the contract has been signed, I was only able to contact the representative. I was able to contact like an assistant but the representative was not as easy to get a hold of with. She didn’t respond my calls and e-mails. In the end, it was sort of like a no harm no foul situation. It all worked out fine in the end and they did a good job for a good price but there were a couple of rocky moments in the middle. I’m not really sure whether the guy asking for a huge tip at the beginning of the job. Maybe he was correct. Maybe he wasn’t doing it because he was kind of threatening me. I was a little nervous. When the guy first said that, I wasn’t sure if that was a give us more money or we won’t take your stuff really nice but in the end, I felt they worked really hard and did a good job. I was very happy to give away a lot of stuff. They accidentally overcharged me in the end but they were very good at correcting the error.

Flat Rate movers sent me an on-line questionnaire weeks before my move so they could provide me with an estimate of what it would cost. After pricing around, I decided to go with them and was happy that I did. I was able to make adjustments in the inventory up to the day before I moved. The representatives would follow-up to make sure everything was good-to-go for the move date. The movers ( I believe that there were three young men), arrived on time the morning of the move. The lead man reviewed my contract and went over inventory with me and had me sign and pay at that point. They proceeded to wrap everything that needed protection and load the truck. I was moving from an elevated building to a 2nd floor walk up and some of the items were difficult to maneuver up the stairs. However, they managed to complete the move within 4-5 hours (the distance was under 5 miles between locations) . They were courteous, professional and clean. Nothing was damaged in the move. They made a stressful undertaking seem routine!

Movers showed up on-time. Expertly packed our kitchenware in such a fashion that not a single piece of glassware/china broke during the move. Were courteous, professional, and helped take the stress out of our moving day. This is the second time I've used FlatRate. My experience with them on both occasions has exceeded other local moving companies.

OMG. I had a good visit with the representative and was very positive about working with them, however after telling me I would get a Quote the next day, it didnt come throgh for over 3 days and then their guaranteed price was over $20,000. The other reputable movers Ive talked to gave me qotes that were over 30% Less. Guess they really pile on the costs for that guaranteed rate.

This is the third time my family used flatrate. All the crews have a great attitude and get it done quickly. They are happy to go the extra inch to help out. They are more expensive but I've never been nickle and dime'd, and after 3 moves nothing broke.

Everything arrived in my new location except the one box I packed myself with all of my personal financial/medical/work related documents in it. After calling this company repeatedly they claimed they never had my blue box, which was on my manifest but somehow not on theirs. Either this box was stolen by someone in the company or they misplaced it. Either way, I am not happy at all with them and would never recommend this company again to anyone. They seemed rather bothered by the fact that they had made a mistake, and did nothing to offer me anything in return. This is EXTREMELY unprofessional in my opinion.

The service was good. Their flat rate model takes a lot of the pain out of moving. They are all very professional, came on time, and did what they said they would do. Nothing was broken during the service.

They were great. I was held up because of hurricane Sandy and I was able to reschedule. The staff was wonderful to work with. They were on time and everything they said would happen did happen. It was easy to get in touch with them. The service was perfect. The movers were polite and I could not have asked for better service.

FlatRate was recommented by three people: two building supers and a real estate broker. My move occured over two days because there were three pick-up locations on the first day and then final delivery at one location the next day. Two men arrived on time the first day; they worked quickly and efficiently and completed the first move in Manhattan in the morning, and the second two in Connecticut in the afternoon. My items were stored overnight in the truck and delivered the next morning on schedule, back in Manhattan with the orginal two movers plus an additional helper. I was dreading the experience, having heard horror stories about other moves, but everything went smoothly.

My experienced was mixed. The estimator was extremely professional, responsive and knowledgeable. My move was a large one and the estimate was fair and competitive. The packers/movers themselves were not as good. They complained frequently about the size of the job (angling for a good tip no doubt), they did not finish packing one room - I had to call them back to the apartment to finish, and, when I unpacked everything at my new place, there was an unacceptable amount of damage. Flatrate were very prompt to settle the damage claim but the items should never have been broken in the first place.

Our experience with them was very good. Their price was reasonable. I liked that they explained everything and they were true to their word. Their responsiveness and punctuality were very good. We've had no difficulties. I would recommend them highly.

They did well and we were happy with their services. They were professional. Their prices were more above average and it was worth it. They were not expensive. It was worth giving the customer service and how they handled everything.

Moving crew packed up fragile items--mirrors, framed pictures, TV, computer, lamps--wrapped furniture, mattresses and garden equipment. They reinforced the wrapping on some of our boxes. They moved and stored items for about 2 months until we located our new home on the west coast. The window for delivery was about three weeks and they were unable to give us a precise delivery date until about 48 hours prior to delivery. This was our only frustration with the administrative staff. The delivery went smoothly and the crew was extremely courteous, helpful and efficient. Everything was delivered intact and without damage.Although I hope never to move again, I would use them again and recommend them highly to others.

The crew was very professional and courteous. They worked quickly and diligently. None of our belongings were damaged. After about an hour of work I made sure to give them a 10% tip. I gave them another 10% at the end of the job because they performed so well.

Good communication and fast reliable service.

Horrific is the only word that describes their service. We confirmed a reservation to move weeks in advance. They came out and did a detailed estimate. The day of the move, and our legal closing on the property, they FORGOT to notify the dispatcher about our job and there were no trucks available to perform our move that day!!!! We cried and then scrambled to find a last minute mover which our super luckily had in his back pocket. We are boycotting FLATRATE for life.

I originally worked with a representative over the phone to set up the move and get a price quote. Flat rate was very good with following up with me to accommodate any changes prior to the move. On my moving day, the lead mover reviewed my verbal contract and had me sign it to confirm. The crew worked quickly and efficiently and were very polite, conscientious young men. Through no fault of theirs, they had difficulty trying to get a wall unit up the stairs in the new apartment. I did not anticipate that the drop in the ceiling above the stairs was too low to fit the wall unit. They made several attempts to maneuver the piece but to no avail. Fortunately, I was able to make other arrangements to get the piece in but I must commend them for their efforts. Overall, my experience was very satisfactory from start to finish.

They worked very good that it’s very pleasant working with them. I do recommend them and I will use them again in the future.

I had heard good things about them but the particular representative that I had used was unresponsive. He did come to my house and he was late. I would not recommend them to others.

We had much of our stuff in storage in the basement following a cross-country move the previous year, and Flat Rate was the most competitive on price. Our only issue arose when they didn't bring large enough trucks, and we had to scramble to get all of our belongings out in time to complete the move.

I hired Flat Rate to pack and move half my belongings from Manhattan to Queens, and the other half into storage for a year. I just (7/30/12) had them move my storage items to Queens. The agent convinced me to pay $1200 extra for "Elite Service" which includes having a manager on site,a photo inventory of items in each box, special shoe boxes, an IT speciailist , as well as setting up TVs and electronics at the destination. They did not arrive on packing day at 9 am. After I called they apologized and sent a crew at one. No manager, no photos, no IT. Then at three, a different crew arrived and replaced them. They wanted to stop at 5 and I made them stay until they were done.Yet another crew arrived the following day and loaded one truck for storage and one to Queens. They put everything in the house and left. I had to call to get them to return to unpack the electronics and tvs. I challenged the final bill because I had not received the "Elite Services" and after many weeks of discussion, they gave me about $300 back. The storage items were delivered yesterday and I have about 120 boxes which are labeled with only the word "Storage". No room, no description. Just "storage." They also charged me $2750 to simply deliver the items from the truck to the house and stack them. But they required I pay the "Elite Services" price. Now they are billing me $750 for an extra month's storage because it went in on the 29th of a month and left on the 30th.
