Excellent, movers were on time, did what they were supposed to do. No hidden charges

They did a terrible job packing. Many lampshades were crushed and one antique secretary was broken. They were not flexible when asked to put furniture in a room different from what was on the original label.

One of Flat Rate's people did a walk through of our old apartment to estimate how much stuff we were moving & give us a price. It was quite a few weeks before the actual move so I had only started packing books. I had about 8-9 boxes. She sent us a quote & estimated I would have 33 boxes. I called the company & told them I thought I would have much more boxes than that, they told me no problem. The price would stay the same. The day of the move, the movers arrived on time (in fact they arrived early, but waited until I was ready). when the guy came in to see what they were moving, the first thing he said was, "this is way more than what they listed". I told him I had spoken to the company regarding the lady's estimate & they said no problem. I actually had close to 45 large boxes. As they got near the end of loading the truck, I heard the guy say that the truck was full, but there was quite a bit left to pack. Bottom line is they should have used a larger truck, they had a small one. They got us moved into our new apartment quickly & efficiently. However, when they went to hang some of our clothes into our personal mirror wardrobe closet, the piece that held the rod had been broken. The mover said he could fix it, after some tinkling around with it, he put the rod up, hung a few raincoats on it & said it's fine, just don't hang a lot of heavy clothes on it. As they were leaving, I noticed that my bathroom space saver wasn't there, I asked where it was, he said that he didn't know I was taking it with me, yet he had taken the glass shelves off of it & packed them, so why wouldn't I? plus it was on the list they made to be moved. I had just moved around the corner, so I asked could we go back & get it, he said no, so my husband (who is 70 yrs. old) & I went back & got it ourselves. When we returned I took my coat off & hung it in the wardrobe closet & the entire top part collapsed. The rod came down, the shelf came down, it was unusable & could not be fixed. Two days later I was unpacking & putting things away, I climbed on my step stool & saw that the top of the wardrobe closet had been crushed in on one side. While on the step stool, I noticed the top corner of my solid wood armoire had been badly chipped, and my queen size pillow top mattress looked like it had been folded in half (there was a lump going straight across the middle of it. Bottom line, I don't believe the truck they used was large enough, so they crushed things in to make everything fit. I know it was my responsibility to check my things before they left, so that was my mistake. I did contact them via an e-mail they sent me asking how my move went, to this day I have heard absolutely nothing from them. The movers very quickly & efficiently did a sloppy job. It was a big move job & I was exhausted, I should not have been to tired to checked my furniture, then we could have kept the nice tip we gave them. I would not use them again. An update on my review. I was contacted by Flat Rate via phone after posting this review & was informed that they never received my e-mail about the damage. I was told to send them photo's of the damage & fill out a claim form which was promptly sent to me. I filled it out the next day & by close of day I had a response apologizing for the damages & approving my claim. I received the check about 2 weeks later. The settlement was satisfactory and will help me replace my wardrobe closet. So I have changed their responsiveness from F to B.

Flat Rate Moving was great; super. They were really good. I think it was a pretty good deal. I would definitely use them again.

The actual pick up was OK, I guess. I did get charged more than the estimate as I had more boxes that originally stated. The problem arose after my items were delivered and I tried to contact my sales rep regarding storage charges and never received a call or an email. I originally gave them a "F" for lack of customer service once the job has been completed but have upgraded that to "C". Since the initial review was posted, a representative from their customer service department in New York contacted me and a resolution has been agreed upon.

Everything went extremely well, and the moving men were courteous and efficient.

Everything went relatively well for a move except there had been some miscommunication between the main office and the actual movers. (i.e. we had amended the original list of things we were moving more than a week before the move and that had not been communicated.) However, though they arrived a half-hour late (possibly also due to same miscommunication), they were efficient, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was well-wrapped and we were very happy with the move. I had used them once before and liked them then, too.

Movers were punctual and fast! Everything arrived at destination in good order. We also got a follow up email about 2-weeks post move to check everything went smooth.

The person who came to give me an estimate some weeks prior underestimated the amount of boxes I would need and also ordered a smaller truck than was required. The movers were understanding that this was not my fault. We moved everything we could the scheduled day of the move and then they came back another day convenient to me to finish up the job without charging me extra. The only extra charge I had (and I understood) was because they had to carry my large captain's bed down eight flights of stairs because it did not fit in the elevator. Great service, very nice, professional people. Would definitely recommend and will definitely use in the future.

Packing was not great. Ultimately nothing got damaged so I can't complain too much, but boxes were left poorly labeled or unlabeled and things were packaged in an illogical way. I can't find a lot of stuff I need because I can't tell what's in the boxes. For example, five winter coats were stuffed into a single, small unmarked book box, just crammed in, not folded or anything. Many kitchen good were not in the "kitchen" boxes, and I'm still unable to find a lot of them. The movers themselves were ok but slow. They were careful and respectful and didn't damage anything. However they took much longer than it should have taken, and they seemed to be standing around and chatting a lot. It took eight hours to move a one bedroom apartment to a new place three blocks away, both buildings having elevators. I would give them a higher rating but I feel that for the price they charge, better service should be provided. I will say, however, that FlatRate was extremely responsive -- I had to change my move date three times and they had no problem changing it immediately. I would still consider using them again, but I'd probably get other estimates.

These movers were absolutely OUTSTANDING. They were like energizer bunnies. They were fast, precise, careful, punctual, and very professional. I've moved many times and these were the best movers I've ever worked with.

The service was really great from the over the phone estimate to the move. The customer service rep was very calm and helpful even though I was panicking about how much stuff I had to move. The movers showed up on time and moved everything into the new place in under four hours. Without complaining. I was really impressed with how fast they were. Their prices might seem higher than other moving companies but it's worth it, in my opinion. Don't forget to tip your movers well! They earn it!

It went very well. Unfortunately a piece of furniture was damaged during the move, but FlatRate provided fair compensation.

This was the third move in three years and the third time I called upon Flatrate moving. Each moving experience has been better than the previous. This is the only company I would ever use again. The price is great, the online inventory updating is wonderful, the men are professional and very very accommodating on the day of the move. They always ask if there was anything initially forgotten that has to be included. They are also lightening fast and punctual. Dejon, the representative who has booked each move, is spot-on with his attentiveness and attention to customer service. They're just a great comnpany to work with, plain and simple.

The move went smoothly. When a set of drawers on the bed didn't close properly after the bed was placed in the new location, the movers did not leave until the drawers functioned properly, despite the excess time that was involved. The company stands by its policy of not charging anything more than the amount of its quote. I've used the company twice and would use them again.

The service was efficient courteous and responsive to our needs. A representative came to our apartment on short notice to give us an estimate and clearly knew what he was doing. We had specific date requirements that the company met and the estimate was substantially below the other estimates we obtained. We thought that that meant that there would be a lot of add ons but there were none. The movers came at the allotted time and worked over two days. The first day they worked until after 10pm (having started at 9am), in order to finish on time and to accommodate our new building's restrictions on the hours when the movers could work the following day. There was a minor bit of damage to a doorway in the new apartment which Flatrate came back and repaired. The service was completely to our satisfaction and when we move again from our house in CT next year we will use them again.

It turned out fine. We were happy. They have done work for us several times. They are very reliable. They always do a good job. They haven’t damaged any of our things, ever. No problems with them at all. I have probably used them a dozen times over the past 2 years. There is so much room for things to go wrong when you’re moving and I’ve never had a problem with this company. I’ve always thought their pricing was reasonable because they don’t just move us, they pack for us.

They are personable, on time, and pleasant. They were wonderful! Their price is fair. It was about 1,000 each move. I have recommended them.

I was very happy with them. They are very thorough and careful which I really appreciated it. They wrapped things very carefully and in a way that can be easily reassembled. I was very pleased. It’s very expensive to move, but at least they are willing to stand by their pricing. A lot of companies aren’t willing to do that. The crew was very pleasant, polite, and neat.

Incredibly easy, professional and they kept asking us if everything was going well. Got a call from the main office and a supervisor showed up just to check up on the move. Would definelty recommend and use again!!

I was most concerned about a very large 5 piece wall unit with glass shelves and doors. They wrapped each peice with moving quilts as if it were a present and then plastic wrapped it due to drizzling rain that morning. I was extremely satisfied at the careful and thorough method they used in moving each piece. Every piece of furniture was wrappped and protected extremely well and each box and every piece of furniture arrived in the same condition as it left. Very surprised and how easy and efficient the move was. We had a "medium" sized move and the guys wrapped and loaded the truck in about 2-3 hours and unpacked and placed everything as requested in 1-2 hours. Lots of worrying for nothing. The guys did a GREAT JOB!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I am very happy with them. They boxed all of my belonging and nothing was damaged. I would highly recommend them.
