FlatRate Moving

They showed up on time, charged us exactly what they said they would and kept our stuff secure in storage for what ended up being a year. Here's the important thing, that caused me to write this review. When our items came back, we noticed that there was damage to some of them. I contacted Flatrate and had a response from a senior executive, hours after writing an email.....on New Year's Eve, no less. Within a few weeks they took the steps to repair the damage that some of our things had sustained. These guys are the real deal, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for an honest, responsible moving company that will also store your goods and be responsive if you encounter any problems along the way.

Exteremely traumatic experience. Had over $10k in damages to art, a completely broken console table, a damaged chair arm, number of broken glasses and dishes, nicks and scratches to furniture. Movers missed the move date by 2 days and when it arrived 15 items were missing. They were scheduled to be delivered a month later. Flat Rate did only compensated me a couple thousand for the damages (even though I paid for the extra insurance) because i did not itemize properly all the valuable items. The customer service rep was combative and was not fazed at all when i threatened to take legal action. I strongly advise against using them.

I'm a repeat customer! I've used Flatrate for all 6 of my moves in the NYC area over the past 8 years. ILAN RON (Senior Relocation Specialist) did an exceptional job of accessing and organizing everything for both my moves. Because of his ability to plan and arrange everything quickly, my first move was booked and organized within minutes. The team he sent was the best EVER! Manny and his men were careful and efficient. They arrived early and had my entire move complete within 4 hours... nothing broken or missing. Everything handled with care. In addition, they were polite and helpful. Will definitely be requesting both Ilan and Manny again when I move next! Thanks guys for a stress-free, super easy moving experience!

I had a very good experience with them. We were very satisfied with them; they were very good. They were very careful, prompt and did a good job.

I had a high level of confidence in Flat Rate having used them years ago, but the moving staff exceeded that in spades. They were eager to send a rep to look at the apartment and evaluate the possessions in order to give me an accurate estimate. They did. They did not push for me to sign the agreement after the estimate. They provided an easy system I could use to review the estimate online and then approve later. Their estimate was incredibly accurate. I thought for sure they'd be wrong but no. I also worried that the movers would do what the sales rep said they would do, e.g. pack pictures and lamps. I have a lot of pictures. They packed them. Nothing broke. They have a system. It is impressive to observe. I have three crappy Ikea lamps. They packed them. I didn't have to worry about this nonsense. Their level of effort and professionalism of the day of move team was nothing short of outstanding. They demonstrated an admirable work ethic individually and as a team. They were polite, efficient, good-natured, pleasant to interact with. They cleaned up after themselves, they didn't complain, they were trying to take a bedframe apart with a pen until I noticed and offered a tool. They let me know my cat had managed to get out of the bathroom. :) I completely trusted them with all of my belongings, including an expensive computer.(I have worked with other moving companies where I felt like I had to lie about what was in boxes and use code words and/or watch them as they walked through the apartment.) The FlatRate movers made a terrible day that much better just by doing their job at the highest possible level. I also thought the price was more than fair for the amount of items they had to move. Throughout the entire process, all I could think was, "This is worth every penny." I am not a wealthy person.

Horribly. They broke items as well as sawed in half a Florence Knoll sofa ruining it and refused to compensate more than 200.00 which I never cashed. cut a sofa in half rather than try and fit it through a door

It went well - no major issues and the same crew packed up my stuff and delivered it from storage and unpacked it about a month later.

They took care of everything. They were careful and wrapped up everything and were easy to work with. They even organized and put away my items in the storage unit! They were eager to take care of everything--they wouldn't let me help! A very friendly service provider that gave me a great experience for a time I would otherwise dread.

They continued to bill me after service was completed. Difficult to deal with. Over priced and billed incorrectly.

They came with a truck that was too small. I couldn't get all my daughter's stuff in there. That was a bit of a problem. I called some gentleman over there by the name of Dwayne, spoke with him, and he asked me what the stuff was. I told him I was a member of Angie's List. He quoted me $850. They took a deposit of $50. They wanted a check for $850. It ended up being $900 so it wasn't exactly what they quoted and I don't know that I got a discount either. I took the guys because they took the best they could but they came with not a very large truck. They tried but they couldn't get everything in. I called the company and they made them put in some more stuff, but it ended up that I had to go back and forth with my car 2 different times. The moving guys themselves were nice but it seemed to me like there was a disconnect between how much room they gave us in the truck and they didn't adjust the price, they didn't do anything. I even called while they were there and spoke to someone and he said he would try to get them to make more room. There was still more room, but obviously it still wasn't enough. It was hard because my daughter is pregnant and I had to run back and forth and I'm disabled. It wasn't a great experience. I won't be using them again. They quoted me a great price but it was not the price they charged. They should have brought a bigger truck or they should have compensated me in some way for having to go back and forth, for them not completing the move.

It was okay. To get a better grade, they should have less damage to the stuff they are moving. The price was very good, it was like A+. Professionalism is a combination of things to me like, were they on time, polite, easy to work with and things like that.

It was a bit of a challenging move because the house we are moving into is an old house. The movers they sent out, didn't seem experienced with tight space moving and there were a couple of pieces of furniture that got damaged. The guy who came to do the estimate was great and super knowledgeable but the guys who came to do the move itself were good but not great.

They lost items on both legs of the move. I have filed a couple of missing items with this company and not received near their worth back. One item was a very expensive lamp of which only the shade arrived worth $5,000 which I have documented from the store I purchased it from. They acknowledged this information but explained they cover their losses by the pound and only paid me back $1,100 which included the cost of a printer they also lost. Another item they lost was a L?ger lithograph which is one of only 300 in the world. Of the items shipped to my daughter a box filled with linens, duvet covers, pillows, stuffed animals from when she was a baby, tablecloths etc. added up to a value of ~$500. They only reimbursed me for $150. I sent her a dining table which they took apart to ship, but when it got the destination I had to hire someone separately to put it back together. They said they couldn't do it. It was nothing complicated. I could never get someone on the phone to actually deal with these issues. I really wanted them to look for the items. This is one of those deals with a very slick estimator who comes to look at the work, but disappears after the job and can never be reached.

It was horrendous. They broke a piece of furniture and refused to fix it. They gave me the run around and never responded to me. They dragged it on and dragged it on. I just let it go. They should be ashamed of themselves. The customer service is horrible. They came, moved the furniture and had little regard for the value of the furniture. They broke the leg and did not even attempt to fix it. They did not attempt to respond to my call. They did not attempt to make it right or to reimburse me. They did nothing.

I had to move furniture and boxes from a three story house in Philadelphia to New York City - both to my apartment and to a storage area that I maintain. The initial move was painless. But, unfortunately, although I told them that a large dish cabinet, two boxes in front of the cabinet and another small cabinet that were to be moved they were left behind. I moved the two cartons from Philadelphia to New York and I contacted Flat Rate. They were remarkable. About a week later they picked up both cabinets and delivered them to the apartment. This was a painless move.

The moving and storage went well; everyone was very professional. My only grip is there were multiple issues with billing for the storage, as they overcharged us more than once, and then doubled our rates without telling us. When we called about this, they simply said it's because their costs were increasing.

The 3 movers were very professional and were extremely careful with our items. They securely wrapped all items and were very resourceful while helping us navigate the tight spaces in our apartment.

It turned out great and everything was just fine. The staff was friendly and helpful and they were prompt.

The elevator operator told us he wouldn?t wait for us and would be leaving at 5PM. The moving company said that was fine and came at 2PM. They finished at 2:35PM! When you register with the company, you are assigned a job number. I gave the operations director of my building the job number and telephone number. Later, she was billed for a longer use of the elevator, but the company couldn't help her because the information had been wiped from the records. So, the service was excellent but the post service was really poor this time. However, they always give me a good estimate, show up and are careful with my stuff. The people are able to communicate and verbalize the issues and the instructions, which is very important to a move. Everything has really been excellent and I always recommend them.

Everything went well. Their customer service was pretty good as far as having specialists come out and decide how many boxes you needed. The movers were pretty good as well. However, their pricing was a little high.

The experience has been very good. I would give them an A-plus if I could. They are really good.

It was all right. I liked that they prepared everything for the move. All I had to do was prepare the boxes; they did everything else. The interaction was fine. The only disappointment was that the move took all day long. They didn't take the time to re-assemble the furniture properly so everything was loose. They put everything back together but not the way they should have.

It was a bit of a mixed bag, actually. The people that scheduled the move did not do a particularly thorough job of getting us an estimate. It was way off. The actual crew that did the moving was very professional and hardworking. I have no complaints about them. They tried to increase the price by almost 100-percent on the day of the move which we argued against. We ended up getting the original estimate price. Their price quote was competitive, but they did not do a thorough job of estimating and then tried to increase on the day of the move when I had no choice. It was not very appropriate.

They were fantastic. They were really good.

We decided it was time to let professional movers handle the packing, the loading and the drive to Philsdelphia. We invited several companies to give us estimates and chose Flatrate not only because their bid was among the lowest, but also because of the professional approach. A week later, after a handful of helpful up calls, a crew of three men arrived promptly on the day scheduled for them to pack our things. Things progressed well, and they asked if they could also load the truck that day instead of the next day as originally planned. After clearing the logistics with our coop's staff, the way was clear to move ahead with loading the truck. And then, the crew went further ahead with the schedule by loading the furniture in our storage locker. The result is that the second day, originally scheduled for loading the truck at our apartment and our storage locker began ahead of schedule. When the crew arrived in Philadelphia, they continued in a very professional manner to unload the truck and deliver our things. Nothing was damaged, everything was done ahead of schedule, and the company was helpful every step of the way.
