FlatRate Moving

I had a confirmed appointment with FlatRate for a long distance move from NY to MI on June 29th. After confirming truck availability and agreeing for an in-house inspection they came back after couple of days to only say that we have no availability now! Asked them what is the next available date and they said they have on June 26th! I advanced my move out date and since they were ready for June 26th but only to my dismay they came back on June 15th and said we could not take this up as discussed earlier. Wasted my time and now I'm going to find a good mover who could stick by their word! If my pre-move experience is this stressful, I would definitely don't want to work with them for the actual move.

I really liked them. I though they were were reasonably priced. They did not break anything. They were professional.

Timing was tricky because I needed them in and out for both pick up and delivery. Two gentlemen came right on time, introduced themselves politely, wrapped everything up in a flash, then when my chair wouldn't fit through the door, took it apart, rewrapped it and got it done. No fuss, no muss. Bing, bang, boom. On the other end, they delivered exactly when asked and once again, no fuss, no muss. (Thank goodness, because it was my mother-in-law's house!) A simple, easy, very positive experience. I priced a cheaper competitor, but these guys came down on the price by piggy-backing the move and also gave me a TRULY flat rate. No wait time, no traffic time, no charges for wrapping. The tip was included, although I did give a cash tip as well, since the chair was a pain. The office follow-through was smart, as well -- they got the insurance information to the building without my involvement and they called to follow up.

I really appreciate the fact that they gave me an upfront price and stuck to it which a lot of moving companies don’t. The crew was very helpful and friendly. All of my stuff arrived undamaged. The guys were very professional. They were the right combination of listening and being accommodating but were not taking themselves seriously. We thought that of one guy that we had interviewed was moving antiques but really he was just going to be carrying boxes. These guys were doing an honest day’s work. They did well and efficiently. My overall experience with them has been good.

I would absolutely not recommend them; because their whole thing is that they say give flat rates and then they won't change it when we call them up. They ended up trying to change it and gave me a lot of problems, they scuffed up my floors and they were just not nice. They went and did another job either right before or in between mine. They got there and got all the work done, and said that they were going to go to take care of this other job for a friend while they were on my time. It was really annoying. My overall experience with them was really bad and probably the worst. Their price was good at first until they tried to change it. I would not use them again in the future.

They were great. I am satisfied with the services provided.

They did a great job. They were very friendly and respectful of my things.

They were horrible. We would not recommend them to anyone. It was a nightmare. We didn't have a lot of stuff to move over, it was a small move. The quality of their work was horrible. They damaged so many little things that I had. There was some damage to my brand new refrigerator and they spray painted it, tried to cover it up. They didn't want to give us money to cover the cost of the refrigerator. It was really bad. They didn't give us anything and it was a really bad experience. This is the first time we are hiring a professional local service. If we move things our self, we wouldn't do so bad.

They did an excellent job. The estimate was exactly what I paid. They acted like my stuff was their stuff so they were very careful with it. They were very thorough. They were very nice guys. I'd definitely use them again.

The movers were hard working, and did an A+++ job working, and wrapping things that we hadn't gotten to. They worked very fast. There were a couple of minor dings to the new house, but the furniture came through fine. We were pleased with their courtesy, and the speed of the move. On the down side, toward the end, some became impatient because we needed furniture re-assembled, which took time. The real problem was the salesman. When he came to our house to check the furniture being moved. he underestimated the amount of furniture. On moving day, we were told that the cost would be much more. I put up a fight, and they finally took the price back down. The worst part was that the salesman told us was that the movers would reassemble the shelves. We had a ton of them. I asked him several times about this. But on moving day, we were told that they movers would NOT reassemble!! The movers went on and tried to reassemble, and did an admirable job, but were not quite up to task. We were told that their ace professional assembler would swing by in a couple of days, and finish the job, but we never heard from him.

It went great. At the initial contact, I was connected to a Moving Counselor (mine was Bernard Smith). He took all my information and was helpful in terms of coming up with an estimate. He scheduled the move with no problem at all. He, or someone from his office, followed up with confirmations, etc., to ensure that everything went smoothly. And it did!!! The crew was not only on time - they were early. They were completely professional - well-groomed, carrying the proper tools. They were courteous, careful with our possessions ? I could go on and on. There were no hidden costs or surprises. My daughter and son-in-law had used this company in April, and I was there for that move, and I was very impressed by that crew, so I decided to call FlatRate for this move. It was a completely smooth move and I plan to use them again when another daughter moves in a few weeks.

The experience packing my belongings in New York was very stressful. They were very presumptuous about requesting a tip from me before they even got on the road. It was very uncomfortable for me and I did feel pressured into giving them cash on the spot before the delivery was even complete. I called the office to complain about that and the office stated that was not ok for them to do. I have feeling they lost some of my boxes too but I can't prove that.

FLAT RATE MOVERS Flat Rate Movers, were amazing and when they say "Flat Rate" they really mean flat rate. They charge by distance. Their service was amazing. We were living in a 2 bedroom apartment, 1 floor with a walk up to it. 3 individuals showed up that day, and we had nothing packed. They packed for us, labeled the boxes, wrapped all the furniture very thoroughly,y so there wouldn't be any damage to the furniture. Loaded it all on the truck, they made adequate time to pack, wrap, load, and followed us (20 minute drive), then unloaded the truck and took everything to each room that the things belonged in, in the same day. Then they cut open the boxes, put things into the second floor bathroom for us. They unpacked the desk for my office, entertainment center for the living room, put our beds together. Anything they took apart to move, they put back together. We loved them.

You can book them online. They do moving by volume. You have a good estimate about what your moving cost would be. If you have any extra boxes, they don’t charge you for it unless you go overboard. I have used them twice and they were very great. They are all nice people. They were very professional and clean. They usually try and get the moving done within the time frame they give as they have other moving work to be done. I had a lot of boxes and they were very good in price. They are okay as long as you are close to what you got a quote for. They follow up with you. You can call them if you have any questions. They also have storage facility, but I don’t know how long they store things. They make sure that your stuff is not broken and if it does break, they will pay for it. I rate them high overall. I will definitely use them again for moving.

Arrived on time and started out well. Leaving our old apartment went relatively smooth and we thought that the foremen responded well to directions. The problem started when they arrived to our new apartment. - Two 7 foot sofas were both arrived dirty. They are cream colored and upholstered. - Tempur medic mattress also dirty on the edges and box spring needs total replacement. We were very disappointed as this was the second time we have used them and the year before we had issues with them too. Thinking that everybody deserves a second chance we gave it another shot but it was a mistake. Why would anybody touch a lint colored sofa or lamp or bed with dirty hand? Makes so sence. With insurance we will still be out of packet $300. So over all the $1100 became $1400+ all the headache to find cleaners and get a new box spring delivered. Ahh did I say I'm also pregnant? So we would go with Oz or anybody else. We should have listened to our friends not to use Flatrate.

. They tried to run an ancient mover scamp on me. Apparently even though I have a grey beard they thought I was born day before. They made a quote mistake on my contract that they were going to work out but they wanted to get all the stuff on to the truck first. They were there for four hours going back and forth. They could not get in touch with the manager or the kid that wrote up my contract. He could not be reached,nor was he answering his phone. It was a shell game, a management shell game of who you are talking to, who you could be put in touch with, who is available, who is aware of what is going on. They tried every scam that you could possibly imagine. All they wanted to was to get the stuff on the truck. They never came up with paper work. They send some other manager whom I have never heard of over to the site and he was promising to get everything worked out. They still never came up with paper work. They were waiting for the superintendent to come out. They offered the moon; they promised everything kept trying to get things out of the house. They kept walking around the house rewriting the inventory. It was just scam number one.

. It was good as we knew what it was going to cost before we moved. It was not like they say one price and then turns out to be another. That was really good. It was good service. They were reliable and took good care of what they moved. Nothing was broken. I would use them in the future.

I spent about $4000 for the move and it was fine. They were good for the most part. At the end, they had one of my expensive chairs just kind of thrown in. I watched them put blankets around everything and everything was in boxes. It was all perfect. Then when I went outside to check the truck there was one chair that they had just thrown in there. About 99% of it was great and I am not sure why that happened. I would highly recommend them except for one problem, which was an unusual circumstance. Apparently, they mostly go to certain cities for long distance moves. So what they do is they will put your stuff on the truck with other people?s stuff and you will get this time window within which they will deliver it to you. It can be a one-week window or a two-week window. However, I was looking for someone to just move my stuff directly from New York to North Carolina and being able to get it right away. So, Flat Rate Movers were able to do that for me, which was great. It cost more to do that, but it was worth it. That was all fine and the only problem was that there was a mix up with the contract. What they did was that they used a local team and a local truck rather than their normal long distance team. So, they gave me the local contract. Ultimately, I wasn?t able to move on time and there was just a mix up. I don?t know if there was anyway to foresee that. However, they went out of their way to provide the service that I was requesting and so, I can?t say anything negative about them. The price was as good as you can expect. I think it was a fair price, but not a great price. It wasn?t overpriced either. They arrived late, but they called to let me know. It was totally understandable since there was traffic and it was a long distance move as well. I would definitely use their services in the future too.

They were late coming to do the job. When we got our stuff coming to Georgia, some of it was missing. Something else got destroyed; it was cracked. I know that they had gone through some of the stuff, because dishes were out of the box that they were put in.

It was a disaster - the movers told me they could not get the sofabed out. In their inept attempts to get it out, they put a big dent in one wall and scraped the paint on another wall and the front door. They then only offered me $50 off for not moving the sofabed (which was the only reason I hired movers - the other items I could have moved myself). I then hired another mover (for another $350) who got the sofabed out on the first try! Vickie from customer service told us they would be refunding the move cost plus an additional $350 for the damages (that their estimator himself said were bad and should never have happened - and right before a closing!). She then changed the deal and only refunded the move cost. I will never, ever recommend them again. They do not hire competent professionals (at least not this moving team). It is a shame as this was my 3rd move with Flatrate and I had recommended them highly in the past.

I chose to go with them, because I had used them in the past. They are fast with the work. I do not have a good comparison, but the price seemed to be good. I give them all A?s for their services. I would use them again in the future.

Called the week before to coordinate the move - was very easy. It would have cost less to move at a less busy time, but I didn't have a lot of flexibility. They quoted a price up front, I added a few items over the phone once I had packed up, and a small amount more was added to the price. On the day, they arrived perfectly on time. The lead guy, Karma, was very easy to deal with. They dis-assembled furniture and packed the truck. There was some trouble with one large piece of furniture, but they managed to get it out. There were a chips in the varnish of the large item (which was very hard to get out of my apartment, it was also hard to get in), and a large dent in a non-fragile box, but overall I thought they handled my furniture and other items very well. They took particular care with boxes marked fragile, and there was nothing broken. They were efficient with unloading and re-assembly of furniture. Overall, I was happy with them, and would use them again.

They did an excellent job with the packing and the move.

An interesting concept, the arrangement is made over the phone, no salesman comes to your home. Company charges a fixed rate by the item (desk, box, etc.) based on what you tell them. Charges extras based stairs, distances, parking, and other variables, also at a fixed rate. If there is more or less than described, adjustments are made at time of pickup. Though the drivers and movers are par for the industry, the people at the 800 number call the shots and are very responsive. Problems did arise, but were handled by the company's office very fairly and efficiently.

They were phenomenal! Nothing was broken or lost.
