A Stewart Roofing and Waterproofing

Alex and his son, Stewart, were great. Alex called me the same day to schedule an appointment for when I returned from vacation.. Called me on the scheduled day to say they were running 15 minutes late and showed up right on time. They inspected the entire roof and said it was in very good shape, except for the flat roof part where the leak was coming from They were able repair the roof and clean the gutters that very day. They did an excellent job and cleaned up after themselves when finished. I woud definitely use them again and highly recommend them. They were personable and friendly and it was a pleasure to meet them.

The head of the company and his son met with me first to check out the work that needed repair and he did explained clearly what had to be done to fix my water,snow,salt damage steps. His workers showed up and began work immediately with the help of my electric outlet and access to water and within two days my steps and the application of a weather sealant was applied to the steps. The finished product looks great.

Alex never showed up for his appointment. I called him and and he said he didn't know if it was going to rain or not. He said he would be there in 40 minutes and he never showed up. This was very unprofessional.

Very thorough! I was truly impressed. He initially went to the room where the leak from the roof caused damage. Gained access to the roof (via his ladder), assessed the situation, took pictures showing me the damage, explained what the damage was and why it occurred. He gave me an estimate and availability and we decided that we would do the job today. He and his assistant even went above and beyond. He expressed that if ever there were to be a problem, I should not hesitate to contact him. I would recommend him and his assistant anytime. Their professionalism was stellar.

O' Great! He was terrific. He did an excellent job infact he had to go to home depot because he didn't have something. I thought that was nice. It is not cheap. He got in touch with me right away. In fact he is coming back again, i have some cement work to do.

He was able to come fairly quickly after I purchased the deal. He came on the first day and completed the inspection. He gave me an estimate of the work that needed to be done. He had a worker take pictures so that I could see what he was talking about. When they came back to complete the work, he had two or three crew members. They stayed all day and completed the work. They cleaned up well after the job was complete. He was very pleasant to deal with. They did a fine job with work.

I would definitely recommend A. Stewart Roofers, because both men were very nice, professional and put me at ease since they appeared knowledgeable about their work. I did have a few issues however when I first contacted them to set up an appointment, it took a few calls to settle on a date. Since I was really just getting a check up on the roof, it wasn't too big of a problem. The price for all the services was definitely more than I expected to spend but they were able to work with on that as well. Otherwise I'm very happy to have called them and feel comfortable that my home is more secure now for future harsh weather.

Job well done. However, with an unusual combination of rain, sleet, and snow before Christmas 2013, there was an unusual buildup around the roof hatch which caused a severe leak around the hatch before i climbed to the roof at midnight and cleared a path for water to drain to rear of building where the drainpipe traps water. I noticed at that time the roofers did to place a screen over the drainpipe opening to catch leaves and other debris that could clog the main sewer pipe which runs through our basement before it empties into the street line.

Replace roof & shingles. Mr. Stewart did an excellent job. He was very knowledgeable & professional. He gave us a very fair price. When we had a question or problem he took care of it immediately & did it very well. He seemed to impress the neighbors as well because he was hired by a few of them to do similar jobs.

Mr. Stewart inspected the roof for the house and the portico's. He provided pictures of damages,a detailed explanation of the repair work and corresponding cost. His professionalism has truly been remarkable!

It went really well two of my neighbors also got there roof done and another pending although I paid for the Roof Maintenance Package of $99 dollars it was not applied not happy about that I was told that it was not from his company that had that special no more coupons for me.

Happily, he said whoever did my roof last did an excellent job (which I knew, because he is a long-time family friend and excellent roofer, now retired). But recommended an aluminum coating which would further protect and maintain the roof for many years (my next door neighbor has the same thing, and he keeps his home in tip-top shape). He also applied the aluminum to the chimney and all other areas that were still black (my roof is white to minimize heat in summer), took pics and showed me. Very nice man - his son did most of the work, and nice to know that his sons will continue business when he retires. I'm glad to have someone to call upon now, if I need any roofing work - and I see that he also does masonry and other types of home work.

YOU SENT ME 2 ROOFERS THE FIRST WAS PRICED WAY TO HI, AND THE SECOND KEEP ME WAITING ALL AFTERNOON AND NEVER SHOWED UP. I HAVE CANCELLED THE JOB UNTILL THE SPRING OF2014....

I have a Flat roof and gutter that had not been checked in a very long time. Alex and his son came over to check it. They took pictures of the roof, i felt that was very helpful. They showed me different issues on all sides of the roof. They offered me two options to repair the roof. One was to work on the Back half of the roof, where the bigger problem was. The second was to do the entire roof with rubber. I told them i would get back to them. The reason for my delay was because i new nothing about rubber roofing. I immediately checked the Internet and called other roofers. To my surprise everyone is using rubber on the flat roofs. I called Alex and had them do the entire roof. They came back in a few days to do the job. When they arrived Alex called me over to show me the type of rubber they were using ,it was made by Firestone. I asked them about how long would the job take. They said four hours. They were not wrong within four hours the job was complete along with the clean up. They took pics of the new roof and showed me the completed job. The white side of the rubber is facing up and the roof looked very neat and complete.

Alex and his sons were very courteous and professional both on the phone and in person. They arrived 15 mins after the agreed time but a 15minute leeway is okay in my book. He introduced himself and his sons and explained that he would take a look at the roof and let us know what needed to be done. He took pictures of the roof as well as the neighbors roof to compare what was needed. He also focused on the trouble spots and explained why the leaks would occur in those areas. Our roof is a rubber roof but it had not been coated when completed. He explained what would eventually happen to the rubber as it was exposed to heat and cold and the benefits of the coating. He was willing and able to do the work specified and gave me a written estimate with the cost and the materials being used. His sons started the repair and caulking of the troubled spots while he went to purchase the liquid asphalt aluminium. The job was finished in a couple of hours. The work was done today so I have no way of telling if there are any leaks but he did guarantee (also written on the contract that any leaks will be fixed free within the next five years). The roof looks brand new!! Thank you Alex and sons for the great job!! See you in 5 years for the re coating :)

I am very happy with my experience with A. Stewart! I was looking for a roofer since the one that did the previous job, Old H.P. Waterproofing & Roofing never took care of the leak in the skylight, never returned any of my phone calls. When Alex, of A. Stewart came to look at my roof, he showed me pictures of the areas that needed to be repaired. He took his time in explaining what needed to be done and why - also, the areas of the roof that I did not have to worry about. He explained that my type of roof can last as long as 30 years with proper maintenance every five years. They were professional and friendly, knowledgeable of my flat roof and offered me advice and alternatives. They did not sell me on a service or product I did not need. I saw them on Friday evening and they came and completed the job the next day. I hired them to repair around my skylights, vent pipes, chimney flashing where needed, slate dormer peak with flashing cement and fiber membrane. They cleared my drain pipes of debris and removed debris from the roof. They coated the entire flat roof and flashings with a liquid asphalt aluminum. Best of all, they guaranteed all the work for 5 years, so if I have any leaks or issues with the roof, they will come and repair it at no cost to me. The pictures they showed to me after the job was completed was that of a clean, neat job, beautifully done. They will be the only company to touch my roof and I will definitely look to hire them for their other services - waterproofing, painting and masonry work!

I paid for a promotional roof inspection offered by A. Stewart through Angie's list e-mail notice. Although I didn't request an appointment date, Mr. Stewart arrived within 30 minutes and asked if he could do the inspection at that time (he was only several blocks away when I signed up for the inspection offer). Much to my surprise, he told me that my 15 year old roof was in good condition, and would probably be ok for another 10-15 years. Almost as an afterthought, he mentioned that a small exterior roof showed some signs of wear, and he would recover it with a rubberized material for $500. The roof did appear to have lost the top coat and I agreed to have the work done while he was there. Mr. Stewart and his employee were very professional and courteous. He was careful not to make a mess, and cleaned up whatever debris resulted from his work. I was very satisfied and would recommend him to my neighbors without hesitation.

Missed the first appointment, but came 2 days later. He actually went up to the roof and did an inspection, not from the street as previous contractors. He took photos with his camera phone and showed us his findings. He declined to do a much bigger job which the other contractors wanted to do. He told us that it was not necessary. Alex and his son showed up on the day of the job and set to work. He took pictures of the roof to show his work. He repaired a leak which had been problematic. Two previous contractors had tried unsuccessfully to fix it. It has been 2 months now. No signs of leaking after snow and wind driven rain storms. Everything is tight and dry. He waterproofed the front of the house, filled in cracks between the bricks, another long crack on the side of the house, caulked around the garage, windows, door. Everything is tight and dry. His price was very fair. He also gave us a 10% discount. Knows his stuff.

All went well, Alex Stewart arrived on time, provided materials, did the job with care.

I have owned this 108-year-old house for 13 years and dealt with many contractors. Alex Stewart is the best contractor I have come across. He was doing work on my block and came knocking at my door at a time when I had been waiting for weeks for another contractor to provide me with an estimate on the work. He examined my roof carefully, pointed out many areas that needed repair and gave me a price then and there. The next day he arrived as scheduled and did a beautiful job. I was sufficiently pleased that I extended the roofing job to include painting the back of the building, repaining the stucco, installing a new gutter and hooking it up to a water barrel. I didn't have the water barrel and asked him to return to finish that part of the job. The water barrel arrived but I did not get around to calling Alex. The other day he knocked on my door and finished the job despite the fact that I had never called him to let him know I had the barrel and had already paid in full for the job! I really could not be more pleased.

I got Alex's card off our neighbor who recommended A.Stewart roofing. We had a leak in my mothers roof and chimney. So I called him he came right out and looked at my mothers roof he took pictures. And he showed me that my mothers chimney was cracked along the base and had cracks all over it also her drain was plugged and her roof was black and had cracks in it. He gave me a quote to fix all the above for $750 so I called my brother to see what he thought and he told me for what he was going to do it was "dirt cheap" so we chopped and he did the work and it came out great, he took before and after pictures and my roof is now silver and after 3 rains no leak all and all it was a great experience

So I found Mr.Stewart's card In my door and decided to give him a call about a very bad leak that I've had for many years and have tried to fix but never had zero success at fixing 3 other roofers in the past have tried but failed. So Mr.Stewart and his son came out 30 min. After I called him and was very nice and clean cut (a plus with me) he answered all my questions and did not try and push me into a new roof as I told him I wasn't ready for that. So he had told me I had a low spot were water was pounding (he showed me pics of my roof which I like because I'm too scared to go up there) and that my roof was a older rubber roof that it needed the low spot built up with rubber roofing and the roof coated and that he would garuntee the job 5 years so it seemed logical to me and he gave me a good price so I took a chance and boy am I glad I did he fixed my leak,FINALLY my leak is gone haha. Over all I would definitely use Mr.Stewart again and recommend you do too he is a honest,clean,friendly roofer who is great at what he does for a good price what else could you ask for?
