They wanted $3,400 ; never will i use this service again;

I called the company and they didn’t believe they would be able to get out to help us for two days. They quickly called back and were able to send a plumber out right away to take care of the problem.

Great job from Varsity tech Ed. Boiler had not been running as smoothly as in the past. Ed diagnosed several problems and got it fixed and now it runs like new. Quiet and efficient, ready for winter. Can't say the price was cheap, but definitely reasonable and well worth it. We've been with Varsity for many years and we're always happy with their services.

Called Varsity Plumbing and the receptionist was reassuring and provided timeframe to expect their team for an emergency situation involving our gas line in which plumbing was required. Connor and assistant showed up promptly, assessed the situation, even spoke directly to the utility supervisor, detailed what had to be done for us, explained the cost and completed the job. I felt confident in their ability to handle a gas line situation.

Talked to service rep about installing two wifi enabled thermostats. The phone was answered promptly and he was friendly. After series of questions I was prepared to move forward with the visit, estimate and install only to be informed that they charge $90 for the visit and it does not apply toward the work. I chose another company to service my home.

He was fantastic and the price was very reasonable.

He was a wealth of knowledge staying for three hours to explain the process of transitioning from oil to gas heat. It is because of Will Golembiowski we are going to use Varsity Home Service for our project.

Even the technician who responded to the house was embaressed by the price. After reading all the other reviews pertaining to this company, I can't believe they are still recommed by Angies List. Makes you wonder.

We pay an annual fee except the fact that we had a whole new system put in a couple of years ago and including in the price of the system was several years of the contract, so it was not a typical situation. They seemed okay. They are good about responding to calls. They give a good service.

After Superstorm Sandy, my home was undergoing renovations due to flooding. Since we were not in the house, we kept the heat either off or very low. I am new to home ownership and never even thought to raise the heat up when the temperatures we dropping into the single digits. So, I was in the house on a Saturday, picking out paint colors with my contractor when he notices there was no heat downstairs, when there was heat the day earlier. He goes into the boiler room and starts mesing with some things, saying there was air in the lines, yada yada......tells me it'll work itself out, and leaves. So naturally, 20 minutes later, I'm by myself, and boiling water and steam start shooting out of the discharge pipe, obviously I was terrified! I was trying to use buckets and pails and turning valves, etc, but it was just overwhelming. Like any woman, while water is shooting everywhere, I'm on my Kindle Googling things like "what do when water is coming out of your boiler's discharge pipe", etc :) The only thing I learned was that is was probably my Pressure Release Valve and there was nothing I personally could do about it! I called Varsity because their number was still on the boiler (the previous owners had used them). They arrived in the time frame they had promised, immediately announced his name and the company he was with, which I appreciated. He did whatever he had to do to get the boiling water to stop coming out, and after a bit of inspecting and a phone call for a second opinion, informed me my pipes had frozen somewhere under my home and my PRV was malfunctioning. He gave me two options, have them come back and thaw the pipes for an astronomical fee of $600 per hour - which he tells me it could take all day, there was no guarantee they would find the frozen section, AND the pipes still may burst. Option 2, wait it out, the next few days would be warmer and they would probably thaw on their own, but I'd still run the risk of a pipe bursting. So either I pay them $600/hr to burst my pipes, of I let mother nature do it for free? Not a tough decision :) He was very funny about it and totally understood why I would not want to pay that much money. He even stuck around after he was done so wait for my contractor to explain the situation to him as well. So in the end (of that visit), I knew what the problem was, paid the reasonable service call fee of $89 and expected to call them back when the pipes burst, or the PRV completely died. Two days later, the pipes miraculously thawed themselves, and cause no bursts, wonderful! However, the PRV broke that same day and we had water pouring from the discharge pipes for hours (we were told by our misinformed contractor that it should stop by itself in a little while, it never did). We called Varsity around midnight but he said if they come now, it'll be a $200+ emergency service call fee and they might not even be able to fix the problem right away, and we'd be better off just turning off the main water line, having no heat/hot water for the night, but sleeping easy, and having them come first thing in the morning. Angelo arrived first thing in the morning, pin-pointed the problem immediately as the PRV and the expansion tank. He had the parts on his truck, fixed them both on the spot, and our entire heating system has since been working perfectly. I will request Angelo for any future services we may need. As many people, I've heard horror stories of costs associated with boiler problems, so I'm not sure if $700 was a good price or not, but what I DO know, is it's less than a new boiler, and I'll take that!

they came. Busted a whole the size of a basketball downstairs to see if the leak was coming from the shower. Spent a good amount of time to make sure they found and fixed leak and that it was no longer leaking. Nice guys.

The work was satisfactory. They were prompt. The price was high.

I can't remember the price, but I thought that they were a little high. I wouldn’t use them again. One thing that they do is to tell you how much it is going to be over the phone. He did a good job. But really I just felt like I got ripped off. They did deliver what they said they would deliver. They came right away.
