College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving

To be fair, everyone I dealt with was courteous, professional, and responsive. However, when the guys got here and saw the number of emptymoving boxes I wanted them to take away, about which I was very up front when I scheduled, it was obvious they were not happy. The price they quoted me to move the boxes, plus the kitchen cart and 5'x8' area rug, was $900, based in part on my "zone." I knew nothing about "zones" and probably should have done more homework. Anyhow, it cost me less than $700 to move everything INTO my apartment with a professional mover, so how in the world could it be $900 to move a small fraction of those things out? Ridiculous. They offered to take the cart and the rug--the latter of which I easily carried up to my 3d story apartment myself--for $200. I told them "no thanks" and found a different provider who, after seeing photos of what I need removed, quoted me only $350, plus he could come by the same morning because someone canceled. The bottom line is that College Hunks' website presentation of their pricing is very deceptive, so make sure you ask a lot of questions if you want to hire them. And if you live in Great Neck, or anywhere that's not right near their HQ in Suffolk, hire a more local provider, who will not give you an inflated price based on your "zone."

It went very well. They were wonderful. I think they were excellent, but I think there could be improvement. I did not mind paying them because they were fine and did a good job. I think they could have been a little more experienced, their crew. I had four of them move me. The older ones or the ones in charge were A-plus. I do believe that the younger staff could have been trained a little bit more. I have a fair amount of scratches on my furniture that I can take care of, of course, I am not complaining about it because it was a move. It was not terrible. It was not to where I had to call them and complain. It is just, things like this happen. But nothing major. They moved my hutch, which was glass, and they did it perfectly. They did a fine job there. It was absolutely fine and perfect. I am not complaining at all. I guess their price is comparable. They were prompt. They were extremely respectful of me, my house and my pet. They were wonderful and they cared about everything. It was the few scratches that bothered the me the most.

I was more than pleased by the services performed by College Hunks. They arrived punctually and removed two truck loads of junk from my house in less than an hour. They were professional, clean and courteous. They made what could have been a stressful experience pleasant and painless. The crew: Tyler, Mario, Craig and Matty C. were absolutely fantastic and efficient. The best part is College Hunks brings all donatable items to Good Will and I am so happy that they can make use of the items. At the last minute I searched onlline to find someone who would remove the junk and furniture. The customer service representative I spoke with on the phone was pleasant and very accomodating. They were able to come the same day I called which was a great help because it was a holiday weekend. The two gentlemen, AJ and Jarred Tucker, came and were not only ontime, but courteous and extreemley professional. They took all that they could fit in their truck. I was happy to have them in my home because they made what was a real chore a very nice experience. They worked quickley and in no time, my garage was empty! I am going to use them again. I would not hesitate recommending them to my friends if they were in need of that kind of service. The nice thing is that I had used a service like this in Connecticut and everything they removed was taken to the land fill. This service took everything to a donation center and anything usable was then donated and anything that was unusable was then disposed of. If AJ and Jared Tucker were representative of the employees, this is a terrific company!

Four young men showed up at my door at the scheduled time, and they all introduced themselves and made a point to shake my hand. They were neat, clean, efficient, and friendly to my dogs. i was very happy with the service.

The two young men, Jake and Anthony were just great. Mine was a big, dirty job. I knew I'd probably need two loads. I'd read some not so good reviews of the service in other areas, particularly complaints about not really filling the truck, so I was initially skeptical. I couldn't have been happier with them. They were upfront about costs and what was included, or extra. They took everything I asked, and some of the things were very, very heavy. They worked quickly and efficiently. They filled the truck completely. And they were polite and respectful. I'll still need one more load, to get rid of stuff in the rafters, and I fully intend to use them again.

Tyler and Jesse arrived on time. They both were friendly and courteous. After agreeing on the cost they got started. The job took less than an hour. After which we were very pleased with the quality of their work. We will definitely use this company again, and would highly recommend them to anyone. Ed and Sheila Currivan

These two guys,Mike and Mark were terrific. Not only were the prompt courteous and professional they put me completely at ease with how carefully andgently they handled some expensive pieces of furniture first wrapping each individually with moving blankets then with plastic wrap. They then oh so carefully carried them to the truck and securely battened them down for the trip to where they were unloaded in the same careful fashion. No problems no calamities no heart in throat moments, truly a stressless move! These fellows are truly an asset to their company and I for one vote that they deserve a raise!

The whole move went smotthly. Matt c and Liam Doyle were efficeint in the moving and very pleasant young men. I would hire this organization again in a minute. I am very satisfied.

Both Mark and Mike were wonderful. Not only was there a flight of stairs leading to the apartment, but it was also a townhouse with its own set of stairs. They moved heavy appliances and many boxes of heavy books along with bedroom, kitchen etc furniture. They did it all within 31/2 hours with never a complaint. They are professionals and very pleasant guys. The entire company rates high in communication as we had to move the appointment dates around due to the recent snowy weather. We had also hired them again for a 2nd move from one house to the house next door in Rocky Point. It had been snowing and both Mike and Mark picked up the shovels and helped create a pathway for a safer move. All furniture was moved with care and with the best thought of plans on how to safely maneuver the large pieces of furniture. An A rating for this company and a triple A rating for both Mark and Mike. Thanks you for making both of the moves a smoother transition.

Excellent. Nick and Chris arrived the time we scheduled. We walked around and showed them what had to be moved and where. They moved everything in less than 2 hours which is the minimum you pay for. They were great, very professional and we would definitely get them back after the construction has been completed to move furniture back.

They stated an arrival time of 10 - 12. They arrived within that time. Removed both pieces with care. They were finished in thirty minutes. Both young men were very respectful. I would definitely use this service again.

They were very helpful. They also added moving furniture upstairs that I had recently purchased that was sitting down stairs. I was very pleased with them. The four boys were Vinni, Paul, Matt and John. I thank Angie's List for referring them. I've used other people in the past and they are much better.

Each person I was in contact with at this company was polite and helpful. The movers were cautious of protecting my home and furniture pieces and worked quickly throughout job. They made sure I was happy before they left.

Called the day before to confirm. Called on the day of service and provided an estimated time. Then called 1/2 hour before they were to arrive. Arrived on time. Reviewed all pricing before job started and there were no surprises. Did an efficient job. they were professional and courteous. Are going to use them again to do final haul away

The removal of the stuff went ok. They tried to come early but agreed to come at the time agreed upon on the phone. They guys were quick and professional and removed almost everything I asked them to. The one thing I want to mention is they charge by how much of the truck they fill up, and they considered my stuff a full truck. The truck is like a small dump truck. From the second floor looking down at the truck when they were done showed the truck only half full. Perhaps there was a reason for this, I don't know. I'm just warning those who have seen their junk hauling trucks that what they consider a full truck is only half the height of the box on the dump truck.

I made the mistake of trusting the ratings of the company, even though there were no local ratings. This was a mistake. First, I wasn't quite ready the morning they were to do the move and called to see if it could be rescheduled. The young man on the phone said "no problem" and someone would call me back. No one called me back. It ended up he was in Florida (I'm on Long Island, in New York) and the message was never relayed to the local office. After multiple calls, it ended up they couldn't reschedule, but the guys would help pack up. The guys did not do this, in fact; they tried to come 3 or 4 hours early and did not help with upacked items. They appeared overly annoyed with the amount of stuff I had. The items I was concerned about moving, and hadn't packed, were two stain-glass lamps. When scheduling the move the person on the phone assured me that there would be no problem, the movers would pack them properly and move them without mishap. I mentioned this again to the movers when they got there, they hesitated, but agreed to move them. They did remove the light bulbs from the lamps and handed them to me, and moved one metal base, but when they were done moving to the new apartment, I asked about them, he said he left them in the old apartment on the bedroom floor. No explanation why. I should mention before I explain the next part that this company charges by the hour, with one extra hour added on just to show up. I was in a second floor apartment above a laundromat. My neighbor watched the movers from downstairs. There were long pauses while they were downstairs. My neighbor let me know that the three guys couldn't seem to stay off their phones; every single time they went downstairs they were using their phones (texting mostly). Since they charged by the hour this added to the fee. They went over estimate. There were long pauses at the apartment I moved to, but I didn't have anyone to watch them on that side. My neighbor mentioned to me that she would never use them to help with her next move. My grandmother's china was in a box printed with "fragile" on all four sides with arrows indicating "this end up". It was delivered on its side with boxes piled on top of it. Another box marked fragile was at the bottom of a pile with at least one box of books (heavy) on top of it. They didn't put the bed back together properly; they didn't tighten the screws again for the headboard. As soon as I sat on it, the headboard banged the wall leaving a dent and chipped paint. I had to hire another company to complete the job they didn't. They were adults, worked quickly and without mishap. Two of the three were young, but older than the typical college age, probably mid-20's, they and the third man acted like adults with respect for my time and money and property. They did not go over quote. They were courteous and professional and they didn't make me feel like they were annoyed by the move like the "College Hunks" staff did. I will not use this company again.

The consultation was very professional. One person came out and looked at all the items that needed to be moved and listed everything. They sat right in our dining room and did an estimate immediately. This was all done within an hour. On Move Day: They were excellent. Four young, professional, and strong guys that CAN move furniture came to do the job. They were efficient, and attentive to our requests, if we had any. Very reasonable and highly recommended. Both my husband and I were very pleased. Lastly, we paid at the end of the move, when the job was done. No deposits required, and no hidden fees or add-ons were made on the day of the move. This is all how it should be done! Great work by the College Hunks!!

they called several times to confirm and were even able to give me an earlier time. this worked out better for me. they arrived at the time promised and went right to work. nick and steve were professional, very polite and neat. everything was wrapped, packed, loaded and delivered very efficiently. the final bill was even less than quoted because of their speedy service. i would use them again and will recommend this company without hesitation.

There was a slight delay to start because of an accident en route. The movers kept me informed by phoning updates several times. When they arrived everything went smoothly from there on. We had to deal with a number of urban challenges, traffic, parking etc. but the crew was enthusiastically willing and able to step up. I could not be more pleased and highly recommend their services.

Went extremely well.....they moved both pieces with out any issues.
