+ 0 moreMr Valentine came in very quickly to see what needed to be done and produced a very specific and detailed estimate. He scheduled the work in a timely manner and two men promptly arrived at 7:30 AM on the date specified. They were courteous, professional, liked dogs and worked non stop for 4 hours. They cleaned up after themselves and were off to their next job. Now, what more could anyone ask for? They are not cheap, but neither are their results.
Description of Work: I had quite a few odds and ends that needed to be taken care of: Installation of a vanity light in the bathroom, an additional outlet, an overhead ceiling fixture, installation of outdoor lights, a timer and new outlets in the basement.

+ -1 morei like it that they send someone out to look at the things you want to do and give you and estimate (rather than most other firms i asked they give you an estimate on phone based on guessing how long the work will take and the hourly rate). price is probably not the lowest but the guys i had was professional, went through great deal to keep my floor clean and did neat work.

+ -1 moreI contacted Valentine Electric to install a baseboard heater in our basement. The basement would drop into the forties during the winter as it did not have a heating source. Paul appeared very knowledgeable regarding installing basement heating units and made a recommendation right away. We made adjustments to project to fit within our budget and Paul was very accommodating. After reading the reviews we requested to have Carlos and Evan perform the installation. They were punctual and neat. They cleaned up all debris.The unit works great and and satisfies our needs. I would use them again.

Description of Work: I used Valentine Electric for a lot of electrical work. We have had them do a couple of jobs. Our house needed to be rewired after an armature electrical owner prior to us made their own inventions. We've rewired our house and they have put in generator boxes, added circuit breakers.

+ -1 moreThey are good. We have used them before and we've never had a problem. They are responsive. We had to pay for permits and the plumber of course was extra. They took care of all the permits and they worked with our plumber outside of the generator as well as the insulation.

Description of Work: 1) ADDED SEPARATE CIRCUIT FOR NEW GARAGE DOOR OPENER We were asked to furnish and install a new 120 volt 20 amp separate circuit homerun from the main electrical panel located in the garagq across the garage to feed two new garage door opener outlets. Our price includes running a pip( along the outside of the wall to a location where we can then transition into the ceiling and we will run across the ceiling and put in two new GFI protected outlets. These two outlets will be on the new separate circuit homerun. COST: $420.00 2) We were asked to remove an existing track light on the lower level family room and then install a total of four neu recessed downlights in their place. Our price includes reusing the existing switch leg and rerouting it to refeed these new recessed downlights. Our price includes four new LighrO-Lier 1104 ICR housings with four new Light-O-Lier I 176 WH finished trims and each fixture will take an R-40 85 watt bulb. All four fixtures will be connected to the existing switch leg. tn order to run the wiring between these fixtures, we will need to cut some holes in the existing sheetrock ceiling. Where we remove the existing track light, there will also be some damage where this track light was removed from. Where we cut the sheetrock, we will reinstall the sheetrock, but any and all taping, patching, painting, or repairing, must be done by others and is not included in our price. COST: S820.00

He then scheduled an appointment for the very next morning. His technician showed up on time and was very polite and professional and did a quick and very neat job. We have already gotten an estimate for putting reassess lighting in our living room which was very reasonable and we will be doing soon.
Description of Work: Removed a 220 40amp outlet for a electric dryer and converted it to four 110 outlets in the laundry room.

+ 0 moreContacted Valentine electric to schedule estimate. Date & time established, Paul Valentine arrived on time. He was very knowledgeable of what I wanted done. He promised a written estimate within 48 hours and delivered on that promise. The Estimate was detailed and complete. Pricing was fair. After review of the estimate I contacted Valentine and asked for a date to do the work. His staff was very helpful with providing the needed documentation so that I could file for the appropriate permit. A date was scheduled for the work. The electrician arrived on the scheduled date, on time and was fully prepared to perform the job. The work was performed in a timely manner exactly as it stated in the contract ( no surprises). The electrician that was sent (Nick) was pleasant and knowledgeable of his trade. When he was finished with the installation he tested the system to make sure it worked properly; it did. Nick cleaned up the work area and was done earlier that I expected. The work was inspected a few weeks later by the electrical inspector and the installation was approved. I will be using Valentine again in the future.

Until I turned to Angie' s List for a referral, I couldn't even get anyone to inspect the job and offer an estimate. I contacted Mr. Valentine and his office was very prompt in setting-up an appointment. He arrived as scheduled and performed a thouough inspection of the work I needed. Within a few days after I received a written estimate that seemed very fair. We did not use his services because we found another contractor through Angie's List who performed the work at a lesser cost. Due to his professional conduct and his promptness, I will definately keep Mr. Valentine in mind for any future electrical work we mwy need.

+ 0 moreThe Valentine estimator as well as the installation team arrived on time and completed their work quickly and efficiently. The estimator's knowledge and experience were obvious and inspired confidence in the contractor generally. Unlike estimates from other contractors, the Valentine estimator took a number of pictures of the prospective gas line routing, electrical panel site and generator site. He also provided a follow-up detailed, multi-page description of what would be done and the costs involved. I negotiated a separate contract with the plumber (E. J. Behrens) for $1,750.) The installation team completed their work with minimal disturbance and cleaned up at the end of the project. Following testing, a brief explanation, demonstration and orientation in system operation was also provided.
Description of Work: Provided free, detailed home inspection and estimate, installed new emergency generator, upgraded my electric utility service to 200amps, arranged for excellent plumbing contractor to install a natural gas supply line, coordinated and assisted in obtaining all government permits and inspections. Installation team was very knowledgeable, capable and professional; office administrative coordinator was also very professional and provided excellent communication. Entire operation was very professional and I would not hesitate to use this contractor again. Highly recommended.

+ -1 moreTo begin with, I liked the professionalism and responsiveness of the Valentine Electric people with whom I spoke. The work done (see above) was completed in 2 visits as something was forgotten during the first. Not a problem - I contacted Paul Valentine, explained the problem and scheduled another visit. During both visits, the 2 electricians who came were polite, careful and efficient, and wore protective footwear so as not to damage the floors; protective covering was also placed across the bed so that no dust wound up in my bedsheets. In between the 2 visits, I received an email from Paul apologizing for the confusion regarding the electrical work and stating that Valentine Electric stood behind all work done for customers. I also received a personal phone call from him after the second visit to make sure I was perfectly satisfied with the work done. I was really pleased with the communications as (1) I don't think I've ever experienced that with a contractor and (2) it seemed the definition of "customer service" which seems to be a forgotten concept in business these days. Paul, I would absolutely recommend you to anyone searching for an electrician.

+ -1 moreit went so well that these guys are now officially my electricians. they were courteous, professional on the phone. they were punctual, nice demeanor, very clean!, and the visit was painless. they respected and easily handled my hearing impairment ( i read lips). i know it was just a phone jack but they were very knowledgeable. i would recommend these guys to a friend in need.
Description of Work: i had a phone jack high up on my kitchen wall for an old fashioned wall phone. they moved it down by the electrical outlet and capped the hole w/ a plastic cover ( color matching my outlet covers).

The identified the problem within five minutes and began work to correct it. The job was completed within 45 minutes. The cleaned up after themselves even after I told them I would do it. He provided me with an estimate of what it would cost to replace some parts. The actual cost was a little bit lower. Their workmanship was excellent and at the end of the job the place was clean and tidy and every thing worked as expected. With the 15% off coupon from Angie's list it money well spent.
