Response from Valentine Electric Inc.
Valentine Electric Inc., Prides itself on being a quality electrical contractor at a fair and reasonable price. We always tell our customers that our minimum residential service call rate is $150.00 plus sales tax. That rate includes up to one hour of work at your house. That service call rate includes us sending a New York State Approved Journeyman Electrician who has completed a five year apprentice program which includes both classroom and on the job training. This Journeyman will take a fully loaded van from our office to the customers house, preform the service call (up-to one hour) and then has to go to the next job or return to the office. Our company has been in business since 1992 and we have a full office staff. We carry all of the proper insurances and licenses as well as being bonded. We stand behind our work and we will be here and available if something does happen to go wrong. You get all of this for $150.00. The fact that our men were able to identify the problem and make the repair within the first hour should be a good thing. I cannot be expected to discount our minimum service call rate because of the severity of the problem. I still have to pay the men, office staff, insurances companies, bond company, workers compensation, etc. I'm sorry if this customer does not feel it is right, but they were fully aware of our cost before we sent our men. I still believe that you get what you pay for, and quality has a price and in our case I think it is a small price. "Just because we are more efficient and knowledgeable does that mean we deserve less?"
