I was very pleased with how everything went.  Once I hired them to do the job, they were there in 2 days.  They were on time , friendly, and worked quickly to get the job done. They took time to make suggestions about how to hook up a new TV and other equipment to make it simpler for me.  At the end they cleaned up everything and disposed of all of the trash. I was very happy with the job.  There was a coupon available on Angies List that was accepted without any problem.

They were professional. They were very nice. But, first of all, I felt that their rate was really too high and the way they did it was, rather than carry the thing I needed on their truck, they went to the store and bought it and all of that was part of my labor rate, which just didn't seem fair to me. It says on the webpage that it's $65.00 an hour. It's on the webpage. When he told me, "Well, you need a timer." after he was there, took the old one out and checked it and said, "You need a new one. I have to go buy one." And so, he just went to the nearest store. I said, "That doesn't seem fair. Why don't you keep them on your truck?" and in the past, that's what other electricians had done. And he said, "Oh, no, we can't store every one that we would need, so we buy it." And so, he went to a local hardware store and bought whatever they had there, which wasn't necessarily what they might normally use. He put it in and it didn't work. I paid him and he set it up. The next day, it wasn't working right. And I had to go away for the holidays and I wanted it that reason, in the first place. So, on the one hand, I was really annoyed, because the labor was so high and I had to pay for a two hour service call. It was just a lot of money for a timer. So, then, I had to call back and I was expecting them to give me a hard time, so I will say, he didn't. He said, "I'm really sorry. I'll send the guy back this morning. We'll get the one we normally use and we'll use that one." And so he came back, and he put in the one they normally use and they set it up and they didn't charge me for that, which, of course, they shouldn't have. So, on the one hand, I feel they handled the problem well, so I can't complain about that. But on the other hand, I don't like the fact that they charge me for him to go to the store to buy the new timer. And because of that, he didn't buy the one they normally do, because he just bought whatever he could find in the local store. He was a little arrogant about "That's how we charge, that's how we do it." We can't carry everything on our truck. No one ever did it that way before and I just didn't think that was right. That half hour that he was gone to the store, I shouldn't have to pay for that. And they said, "Well, that's the technicians time. We have to pay him too." So I just didn't think that's the way he'd do business for a common thing that people will use. They came in and fixed it and I'm happy with the one I have, but I do think I payed too much for it. But I might be wrong. The price is maybe higher than I thought at first.
Response from Valentine Electric Inc.
"I was surprised by this response. We were told there was a problem with the outdoor lights and timer. There are hundreds of timers and it would be impossible to carry them all. After troubleshooting the system it was the timer that was defective. This was a switch timer and there are dozens of them. We went to the local electrical supply store which was also in Airmont and purchased the only timer they carry. It was a good named brand timer. The supply house was 10 minutes from her home and we picked up and returned as soon as possible. We installed the new timer and worked with her to program. The timer was working fine when we left. She called and said she was unhappy. With no questions asked I sent a man to a different supply house and purchased a different manufactures timer which cost us $30.00 more then the original one she was charged for and we returned and replaced the one she was unhappy with. We tested and checked the original timer and it works fine so we only replaced it because she was unhappy. I have now paid for the original timer which I cannot return because we opened it and it works fine and the new more expensive new timer. When she called we responded immediately and without question to make her happy. She was told of our rates and agreed to them prior to our going to her house and in the end she paid about half of the cost of the replacement timer. I'm not sure what else we could have done. Again, while we carry a lot of electrical supplied on our truck and we use large utility body trucks it is impossible for us to carry everything. It is also impossible for us to know what supplies are needed for every service call, but we are fair and honest and competitively priced and as she stated we stand behind everything we do."

Very good. problem with outdoor wiring was found and corrected. Chandelier installed as requested. The only issue was that i was quoted one hourly rate on the phone and the repairman invoiced a higher rate but it was quickly corrected by the owner once we called so no harm done. Overall i would definitely recommend

I called Valentine and they told me that someone would come that same day for an estimate. The electrician was at our house within 2-3 hours of my call, and after giving me an estimate started the repair job. He  finished promptly and did a good job.

Response from Valentine Electric Inc.
"Wow, I was surprised to see a bad rating from the Member. We were called because a multi-family apartment building (six apartments)she owns in Piermont, New York had a safety issue and her insurance company was going to drop her coverage unless repairs were made. These repairs had to be done immediately. We had a New York State certified electrical inspector provide us with a list of these repairs, ran to several supply house to get the materials some over an hour from our office, returned and installed same all so her insurance would not drop her. My men worked over 10 hours that day and we did not charge her for overtime. We also did not charge her for the time, manpower or gas to run to three different supply house to get the materials to complete her job. We had provided her with a price before starting any work and complete the job on time and at the price quoted. There was wasted time becuase she showed up late and we could not get into each apartment right away. She stood behind my men and day and was extremly happy until we gave her the invoice. While it was at the agreed price she refused to pay. She claimed she could get the materials on line for cheaper then we charged her. We could have also got the materials at a cheaper price but NOT in one day. She demanded a discount even though I gave her the invoices from the supply house showing what I paid. We ended up discounting our price to below our cost to try and keep her happy! In closing we did the work on April 01, 2012 and she was able to keep her insurance. We did it below our cost and below the price she had agreed to and now on December 07, 2012 some six (6) months later she gives us a bad review. The only one who should be disappointed is Valentine Electric."

Valentine Electric was prompt and courteous and finished the job.  In addition, they electrician alerted my mom to the fact that she would receive a discount since she found the company on Angie's List, which was appreciated since otherwise we did not know about the discount.

They did the job and everything was as I said. They gave me a written documentation on everything and it was fine. I wasn't impressed by the owner, but he sent some of his people and they were very good. We had hurricane in the summer and we decided that we needed a generator. We wanted to have that where it is connected to the circuit breaker box. They call it a manual transfer panel, so they had to go from the outside and put an outlet outside the house and then connect it into the circuit breaker in the house, so efficiently they had to run extension floors, to our windows and our doors. During the hurricane, we had lot of houses lost their power and they got the mold because they had water in the house; however we didn't get to that point to our house, but we just realized that we never know if the power going to go up in the snow storm or hurricane, so we thought we will get a portable generator. We got the one that runs on the gas that is used for barbecues, propane gas, rather than the gasoline because the propane doesn't degrade like the gasoline does with the ethanol in it. They got us that and they put the transfer panel. Even the building inspector in the village said that they did an excellent job. The village inspector had to check it afterwards and then I had to get an UL inspector to certify and everything was perfect. I would rate them highly. I would use them again.

They came on time, did excellent work and after completion-cleaned up everything and then explained to me how the generator worked, etc. Today 1/11/2012, the Town Electrical Inspector came and after the inspection told me that the job was done in an excellent manner. He also said that this Company was the best in the Town (Clarkstown, N.Y.). Another company Delpo Plumbing came at the same time and hooked up the generator to my natural gas line. Valentine Electric Inc. usually recommends this company if you do not have a Plumber that you regular use.

We started with a sizable laundry list of things I wanted done in the house in addition to the needs for the new kitchen. They came when they said they would and provided a complete and detailed quotation less than a week later. I decided to start with the kitchen requirements first. They came on time and took care of everything in a completely professional manner. When they left, they removed any trace of their presence besides the work they had done. There was not a speck of dirt or material left anywhere. It was spotless. I'm bringing them back to keep knocking down the items on my list. They are absolute professionals and definitely worth it.

I used Valentine Electric a few years ago and was extremely pleased with their service.  I flipped on my bathroom light this morning at 5:45 am  and the lights on the ceiling and mirror over the sink suddenly went out.  I suspected a burned out lightbulb, but when I tried to turn the light back on, the wall switch did not work.  The circuit breaker was fine.  Given this was a Friday morning and I needed to go to work, I called Valentine Electric to make an appointment for Monday.  I called at 7:00 am expecting an answering service to take a message.  I was surprised when someone from the office answered the phone!  I explained the situation and he told me to check the outlet reset buttons and if that didn't work to call him back.  The reset didn't work, I called back, explained that I had to go to work and could an appointment be scheduled for Monday.  He replied that he could send someone over right now - at 7:15 in the morning! The electrician arrived about 8:00, diagnosed and fixed the problem.  He was very courteous.  I can absolutely, positively recommend Valentine Electric!

On that morning I discovered I had lost power to half of the kitchen.  The breaker was fine so it had to be something in the wall.  I called my usual electrician who said they would call me back.  Half the day went by without a phone call so I found Valentine on Angie's List.  I explained the situation and requested someone come that day given the severity.  Within a few hours a knowledgeable electrician had shown up, assessed the problem in a matter of minutes and completed the job in less than half an hour.  He was courteous and professional.

I called Valentine Electric for an estimate of repairs. Paul Valentine arrived the next day and pointed out that the electric meter was ripped off the wall also and the panel box was damaged. He quoted me what I considered was a fair price and scheduled the work for the next day. The men who performed the work were professional and courteous. The repairs were completed within the time specified time and the electrical system is now working properly. I am very satisfied with the work done and would reccomend Valentine Electric to anyone needing electrical work.
